If you want a family sedan with AWD, 2019 brings 50% more choice than 2018 with the addition of the Altima AWD. All kidding aside, there aren't many options for a roomy, affordable AWD sedan. Rather than adding AWD as a performance enhancement (arguably why Ford added it to the Fusion), Nissan is instead targeting Subaru by offering the option on all trim levels of the 2019 Altima.
Although legroom and headroom have seemingly dropped, as they have in other mid-size sedans, the Altima still boasts a more comfortable back seat than the Fusion or Legacy, higher fuel economy than either (for the moment) and an attractive exterior design.

I love Nissan Altimas, highly underrated cars, I get them for company rentals all the time and the seats are so comfortable. I had a black one with a black cloth interior and the AC handled 100+ degree weather in Vegas and Arizona like a champ. The remote start using just a button on the key fob is a godsend also. AWD now just makes it even better. The SV is my preferred model, I even liked the Altima over the Infiniti Q50 when I had that. My Rogue rentals were also very nice.

Appreciate you braving the -26F weather to bring us the video. On the Altima, still don't understand why they wouldn't do the 2.0T with the AWD as an option and also on the Maxima which it very much needs. If you're OK with the CVT I think the 2020 legacy with the 2.4 Turbo will be the best option in the class if you want AWD.

I've owned a Subaru Outback, Nissan Altima and Nissan Maxima and I would get this Altima if I were looking for an AWD sedan. I'm 43 and seat comfort is huge to me and I think Nissan makes the best/most comfortable seats of all the regular brands.
@nodak81
@nodak81 5 лет назад
Not me, I wouldn't own any of those. I need my cars to last at least 200-300k miles and a CVT isn't going to. I do agree about the comfy seats though, I rented an Altima and it was the most comfortable car I've ever been in.

I get the CVT issue. Nissan had to replace my transmission on my 2016 Nissan Altima with only about 12k miles on it. I've owned a lot of cars and I've had great cars that had some issues in the beginning and they were fine. I currently have a 2017 Maxima platinum with about 40k and it's transmission has been great. I actually enjoy how smooth a cvt is. Again, I'm 43 and I still want a sports look but I'm looking for comfort. The maxima has delivered exactly what I was looking for. But I'm also looking at an Avalon due to my work and they're not bad...the new ones. Maybe I'm just getting older faster than I want to admit.
@occckid123
@occckid123 5 лет назад

@@occckid123 It was a 2.5 SL. I'd be driving and all of a sudden it would rev high but no really move much. I'd turn it off for an hour or longerish and it would be fine until it did it again. I took it in several times but they couldn't reproduce it as I had to drive it for a bit. I finally just drove it straight into my dealer when it started doing it AGAIN (while it was still on) and they immediately knew what was wrong. Thry even filmed it revving but not going anywhere from inside the car. It didn't stop me from getting a maxima as the technicians there were honest and admitted to the Altima having that problem at times but the maximas were solid. And the maxima has been solid.

Nissan have a huge, HUGE problem with reliabilty, especially in third year and on. I know a few people who keep swearing and cursing the day they bought Nissan. Which was not the case before the merger. About eight years ago, after demobilizing from the army, I urgently needed reliable used car and I couldn't afford newer entries - had kinda tight budget. And for 1900 I bought 1999 Maxima with V6. Second owner, complete maintenance history, 110000 miles on it. I gotta say right now - altough it was only my second car (since selling it about three years ago I had another two - currently Sedona, two kids, wife and her ma:) - it was the best ever. Exceptionally reliable, I added some 70k miles to it - had no fails whatsoever. Nothing ever got broke. It was a dream. Unfortunately, when a family is growing you kinda have to buy something bigger. And as much as I wanted to keep it, I had to let it go. We just could not afford two vehicles back then. Now, I am about to buy second car, and it won't be Nissan. It will be either Camry or Rav4.

Hi Alex, I would like to make a business case to folks @ Nissan. Why don't they do SR version like they did in 2016-2018 Maxima. Hear me out. A sport tuned suspension, paddle sifters, cloth bucket seats, 19" rims, Premium sound system, Sunroof and VC Turbo with AWD. There is no need for 360 camera, leather seats and other extra. If they can do this and keep the price comparable to SL model I personally believe this car will sell like a hot cake. I currently own 2018 Nissan Maxima SR. And I wish it had AWD. I test drive this new Altima and compared to Maxima Altima CVT felt slow slugish. What are your thoughts? Also please let me know if you think that what I am proposing is a good idea?

Too bad they don't offer the AWD in the 2-liter turbo.

Yeah, and how many customers are going to buy it if they offer on the 2.0L? Am sure Nissan has done their research and opt not too. Look at the old Rav4 V6, not many got sold so Toyota X the baby. They are in for making money not making few hundred people happy.

The problem with Nissan though is their CVT crap transmissions that is what really hurts Nissan or those cvts they have so many problems with their CVTs so much so I just avoid Nissan cars like the plague. I do own a Nissan vehicle but it's a Titan pickup truck and it's been good but the car's I know so many people with him and they have around 90,000 miles on their cars and the transmissions go out those are ones with cvts. So unfortunately no matter how good this car is it's the transmission that's keeping me from looking further.

Nissan found a good front facial design. If they can keep up reliability race, they would beat Toyota.

Nissan dropped the ball with AWD crap. For starters just put a REAL transmission and natural aspirated engine in the dam car.

Nissan spends more money on concepts and gimmicks than any of there real vehicles and it shows. What a sad company has become. CVT everything and add cheapness is there new motto. Interior reminds me of my Malibu re talk I had last week with that awful wood thing. Personally I'd just wait for the Mazda 3 AWD if AWD was a requirement

@@cedricm5153 So does the KIA Forte, better than the RAV4, for example. And it, at least, is a sedan. There are any number of vehicles that get equal or better fuel efficiency numbers in other product segments. And of course almost any hybrid gets better mileage than a conventional internal combustion engine. The Accord and Camry, for example. And again, they're actually in the same product category.
