Today we're playing and talking about the recent updates in Planetside 2, and the future to come, now that Toadman Interactive has been leading the development for a couple of months. Can it boost the game?

I think that if they can add some AI interaction with enemies in the VR area for lower battle ranks to get used to shooting at moving targets it could help with getting newer players into the game. Shooting at static targets doesn't really help you learn recoil of the weapons very much in my opinion.

Playing since 2015, on and off, but playing regularly since 2020. I play mostly in the vehicle side of the game, and despite the very flaws the game has I play for the fun and massive scale of battles. No other game can still replicate or accomplish what planetside do in that aspect.

They could pay for some adverts make some cinematics and pay streamers to play the game also some new stuff would be good

I believe that could be a good thing to do, even though the game is "old". Especially if they have an ambition to get more players into the game.

This is probably the longest period I've gone without going back to Planetside 2. Despite my optimism that the game would retain a healthy player population, I fear that optimism is misplaced. Even watching your gameplay footage the game seemed very empty (although it's tough to judge without knowing what day and time you were playing). I haven't played the since before Daybreak disbanded the Planetside 2 dev team. I also agree with you on the new player onboarding experience. The game can be very daunting and has a relatively steep learning curve compared to it's counterparts, and that should be where Toadman first concentrate their efforts as developers in my opinion.

Thanks for your comment and feedback! You aren't wrong when you say that it looked a bit empty..Sure, I was able to get into some nice battles, but there was quite a difference playing early afternoon compared to evening (local time). On the other hand, it's been like that for a while. But yeah, I hope Toadman think about ways to "welcome" new players even more. Should be one of their priorities. Like you, I'm trying to stay positive, meaning hoping that there's still a chance that the game can gain some numbers once more when it comes to player count.

I think they need to focus on working on bugs and stuff that is annoying the community like Cloak. They should also make a better tutorial for the game since its very hard to understand the game at first. Working on making the game more polished in the gameplay will make the game a diamond. Polishing vehicule driving mechanics will help like reducing the crazy physics of flipping tank after hitting a small rock

Good thoughts and suggestions! Cloak is indeed a controversy subject in Planetside 2. Even though I've played a lot as a CQC sniper in Planetside 2 (and in other fps games as well), I wouldn't mind the cloak ability to "change" in some way, being less powerful, or actually removed(!) from the game. I would be ok with that also when playing as a sniper, but I guess the other "playstyles" when it comes to being an infiltrator won't appreciate that (melee/pistol/smg). Maybe it's needed to a certain extend when it comes to counter other classes in the game...A better tutorial for newcomers would be nice, I've seen other players suggesting the same. And polishing certain gameplay mechanics, as you're mentioning, would be great for the overall experience.

I think there is nothing they can do to make players comeback or gather new players. The game is one of a kind but for a new player, they only see a dated game, sadly .... They should focus on a Planetside 3 or a remaster of the game, better graphics and a revamped monetization. The cash also need to be localized by countries. Dollar is currently 5x the value of my money, even if I want and I have the money to buy cash, I feel left out because I need to expend a lot more money for little more cash

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, it is hard indeed to get new players into an older game. And as you say, a remake or even a new game (something I've talked about before), could be a better investment in the long run, if we're talking about growing the Planetside community once more. haven't thought about cash not being localized by countries. I can understand the issue.

Just keep playing it no matter what. Thats what i do. My support for ps2 is till the very end. In hopes of averting the end.. and seeing a rebirth and advancement of the whole idea

After two months of playing the game, I've seen a decline in the number of players. Additionally, a small number of cheaters drive away new players who already feel the pain of being slain by more experienced players. Even still, there have been moments when it has affected me, particularly because it difficult to tell whether a player in this game is skilled or cheating.

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, it can be hard to determine whether someone is cheating or just being good at the game, if the player isn't a "blatant cheater". That is true :)

Sees a guy shooting my ally while i point my rifle at his back... Ally dies, and not even the time to register the ally died, the guy has already shot me twice in the head, his player model hasn't even turned around yet 180° and I'm already getting shot with pinpoint accuracy... "All skills mate". All skills till you never see that character name ever again, just a repeat with gibberish affixed after it and it's the same player...

I feel like..maybe there needs to be sky bases and underground base networks to the maps. But all of the ideas are for nothing if people dont continue to play..so just dont stop

I am trying so hard to enjoy PS2... but I am not having fun. It feels like a chore or even a punishment. I been playing since day 1 on and off... and I don't remember it being THIS sweaty. Idk if my NC is as guilty as this, but the amount of infils is insane. They are so damn good as anti infantry and there isn't any hard counters to them or downsides to their kits. I try to enjoy vehicles but it is also just so chaotic and feels like it never ends. Maybe they could nerf how fast vehicle points regenerate. I feel like I can pull vehicles nearly constantly without penalty. Vehicle gameplay IS terrific, but it never feels like I am punished enough for getting my tank killed. I cant imagine how invisible snipers make any sense. The moments I play infantry for 10 minutes straight without infils, it is so fun and I kick ass. But when half their team is infils, it feels like I have to be a free kill over and over. As soon as I kill a non-infil, I get lit up by a cowardly infil taking advantage of me while I am engaged with someone else. Then they slither away, unless my teammates kill them in revenge quick enough. I love the games graphics tho, it looks nice to me, I can get 200 FPS and the battles can be massive. While COD warzone cripples me to like 60 fps. Halo feels outdated and lame. Rainbow is fun if you can dedicate a lot of time to it but I find PS2 more relaxing... or at least I used to. ARMA 3 is so clunky... Maybe I will have fun in BF games? but they are shutting down the servers I think... and the new one has such stupid map designs I cant stand it.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, but also criticism when it comes to Planetside 2. I believe you're right about a lot of things. Not sure how much cjange we'll see down the line now, when there's new devs around. Hopefully they'll be able to implement some better balance here and there. Maybe I talk about infils in this video, but I've played a lot as a cqc sniper, since I have been mainly playing as a sniper in most fps games through the years. I wouldn't mind not being able to cloak, I'm used to that from playing other shooters. But when I play as a medic or engineer as an example in PS2, it's not that often snipers are the ones that are bothering me the most, it's more the fact that you can use a pistol, or a smg, or a knife, playing as an infil, instead of being an ability or class for "snipers only". And as you say, sometimes there's so many of these players in the enemy team that you start to wonder if there are any other classes at all in the game, lol. Well, I don't think they'll consider to change this though (the devs). When it comes to some of the older Battlefield games, I recently played both BF1 and BF5, and there's quite a lot of people still playing online. There's videos up on my channel. So BF1 and bf5, alongside with BF4, are still great games to play in my opinion, when it comes to a larger scale battlefield game. EA will take down the official servers when it comes to BF1, BF2 and Bad Company 2, but the others will still be up there. And guys playing on PC, will still be able to play for example Bad Company 2, since there will most likely be some community servers running. For consoles though, that's not an option.

@40splishsplash Thank you for replying, I enjoyed reading it. When you say the devs won't change infills, do you mean current devs or future devs too? And yes, the infils getting SMG is the worst. Feels so bad to scan a area for threats and push up only to get killed by someone inches away from you -_- Maybe instead of invisible, they could have that hologram clone like in Halo? Them hacking terminals and having radar sensors is already decent perks. If they don't already have it, infils should be able to sabotage bases MUCH faster too tho. I also wouldn't mind it if ALL infil by default didn't show up on radar to make up for removing invisible. Infils should be harder to track but not full on invisible. Medics give heals. Support gives ammo. Infil gives information. The infils having the best snipers by it's self is a amazing perk. Idc if they still have SMG if they aren't invisible.

@@azurumishinji1697 I was mainly thinking about the new devs. Looks to me as if the classes and their abilities/gadgets are almost "set in stone". I mean, if it works don't touch it. But when it comes to infil, I believe they should consider to do some changes. I believe some of the feedback and suggestions your mentioning here are good ones :)
