One guy I would pursue this summer for our 3C is Teddy Blueger. He has a cup ring with Vegas. Solid defensively, not the biggest guy but still finishes his checks, and chips in offensively. Decent in the faceoff circle. Perfect bottom six guy in for us I think. Also speaks French and Russian, and almost no accent in English.

There is a move that would help,but you would still have to make one more after that.Chychrun,Kastellic,Korpisalo and Hamonic to Anaheim for Gustav Lindstrom,a right shot d man that is very defensive,Isaac Lundestrom an up and coming center that has some speed,plus Gibson a starting goalie. Then Norris for Jason Dickinson in Chicago plus a pick.

In terms of going from a non-playoff team to a playoff team, I didn’t think in a million years the Canucks would do that in one off-season, but they have. Yes they haven’t clinched a playoff spot yet but I see it likely they will finish first in the Pacific Division. If the Canucks can go from a nowhere-near-playoff team last season to a high playoff spot this season, why can’t the Sens do the same? There are quite a few issues, including, but by no means limited to a lack of: - a mix of vets and youth as the Canucks have - quality goaltending, which the Canucks have, for much of this season, had with Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith (although with Demko out, due to a knee injury, for much of the rest of this month, TBD will be the goalie called up from the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL)

They better… I canceled two trips to Ottawa this year just because they sucked so bad. My hopes for this core is dwindling quickly

Can they "fix" the team in the off-season, no...but they can make the Team better. Get a good Coach and sign a decent goaltender. Even if a netminder had a .895 Sv% the Team would be much better. Come on Staios, show us you are worthy of the Titles you have and the responsibilities that come with them.

Funny. They have been looking for a right shot defense ever since they traded DeMelo. Never understood that one. He plays top four minutes on a playoff team but was not good enough for the last place Senators.

Its not going to be an easy fix at all. Its going to take about 2-3 years before you find the right combination for your core to work. The fourth line definitely needs a Garnet Hathaway. No if and or buts. The team needs a Scott Laughton aswell for the third line. Id like to have another look at Roby Jarvantie this season and see where his progression is. I would get these guys at a 1 or 2 year deal TOPS, and see if they fit, preferably a 1 year deal. Depending where we sit in the draft, ya I would love to see a Dylan Demelo, but he's gonna get a nice raise this off-season, along the lines of maybe 3.5-4M per, to play with Chabot. Now for a RHD to play with Tyler Kleven, so a cheap-o RHD that is also a wall with experience will help there. As far as the left side, to replace Kubalik, I would really look into a guy like Chandler Stevenson. He's put up decent numbers for the pretty good cap hit that might fetch another 3.5M per. I would definitely be trying to trade Chychrun by the deadline as he has more value right now than Chabot, and this team needs as much draft capital as possible, and hopefully get another first rounder for him to help rebuild the prospect pool. Brannstrom might get you a third rounder, dump Hamonic, dump Kubalik, dump Kastelic (hopefully Ostapchuk will be ready next season) and run with it. Now as far as the PP, Stutzle really need to fire that puck a LOT more. Hes not going to open up the ice for his mates if he is no threat aside from pass only. He needs to be a lot more unpredictable and draw players to him to open up the ice on the PP, which he did last season. Hes got such a good shot, but doesnt use it at all on the power-play and thats why his numbers have been down a lot compared to last season, and the power-play has been terrible. If he doesnt want to shoot, he shouldnt be quarterbacking the power-play. Has goaltending been a problem, absolutely, but it doesnt help if you cant win on special teams. Staios needs to put the support for this core in a blender, and get real help that are not all the same play style where no one knows their true role.

They need a good coach. There is talent there but they need a top notch coach to install discipline structure and get them all pulling in the same direction. Joel Quenneville might be an option

I don’t think we fix quickly unless a bunch of players have bounce back I hope the new goaltending coaches can help these goaltenders. season. If not a rebuild is needed.

I will be honest I don’t have faith in Staios after I have seen what has happened this year. It seems the same thing as the old ownership and don’t want to spend money. He wanted to get the team help. Then he gets someone on waivers. That’s what you consider help. He is full of excuses. Not very transparent like they said they would be.
