Jon interviews Redeemed Zoomer who has a large RU-vid following focused on taking back mainline Christian denominations for orthodoxy. Zoomer contends that the tradition many young men hunger for can be found in Protestantism. Many of the more traditional and beautiful churches have fallen to heresy though.

It took the Moors 10 years to overrun Spain/Portugal. Then after Charles Martel at the Battle of Tours, it took 771 years to expel the Moors. It has happened before. Play the long game.

We need a million more like this young man. It's so interesting how he observed that as a previous leftist, it is a religion and the moment he told his similarly thinking peer group he became a Christian he was ostracized and "cancelled" by them. May God bless him and bring Biblical repentance to so many in the professing church that ignore orthodox, Biblical Truth to appease the world.

This conversation is so interesting. I've commented on your channel once before. I watch your show everyday like it's television and feel so inspired by this episode to share my conversion experience somehow. As a biracial/black female raised Unitarian Universalist who was saved 9/2018 at Camp of the Woods, my mind was also blown when I experienced the faith in true beauty and authenticity but soon saw how rare it is for many professing Christians to be able to explain the goodness of biblical sexual ethics. It became obvious why the rise in LGBT identity is so rampant. As a Unitarian we were already embracing gender neutral beliefs back in the 90s and I had to learn what was what the hard way but I believe I can also help the church from the inside and I'm doing what I can. Many professing Christians can't even explain why it's important to wait until after marriage for sex... There's so much discernment lacking from the inside but meanwhile having converted from the far left I can also detect progressivism/ false teachings pretty fast.

I moved to the USA in 1999 and since then participated in PCUSA until 2014. First in a Hispanic church, then shifted to an America (half the time on each). I started my faith in a Presbyterian church in my origin country so thought it was the same. However, shortly after joining I had the impression that the Christianity vision was ‘light’ compared where I came from, but I met many nice people and fell into a confort zone. As years went by I started to note more and more the spiritual decline of PCUSA until finally decided to leave and joined an Evangelical, where immediately noted the difference. I hope the Lords bless this young guy, his idea is revolutionary, never thought of it, will keep his work in my prayers. I would love to see PCUSA going back to sound doctrine and practice.

As a young believer I began working with a woman who claimed Christ and helped lead worship at her church. I expected kinship. It wasn't long before she had displayed her complete lack of biblical fidelity by wearing rainbow pins, posting LGB messages all over her public work spaces, and had become an outspoken mouthpiece for them Democrats. It was only later that I, s naive young Christian, realized that some churches, like the PCUSA, had lost their first love. Ironically, I knew another woman from that same church who appeared to be a true believer. She served in children's ministry at BSF and clung to Scripture. This particular church went through a period without a permanent pastor and now has one with a young family. I am hopeful that this church can be revived, but they will need to confront, then discipline, those whose God is culture.

The PCUSA requires that each church pay what is called a per capita for every member. This is most often paid by the member. In addition, insurance and pension for pastors is offered through the denomination. And as he said, properties are held by the denomination. The seminaries that are associated with the PCUSA are EXTREMELY liberal so the newer generations of pastors toe the PCUSA line. I fled the PCUSA about 3 years ago. I was very active in the church and loved my church family but I found that I could not allow people to believe that I supported the positions of the PCUSA. I couldn't be responsible for leading others astray.

Awesome podcast. I get it. Christians cannot just keep retreating. Men need to make a stand or Christianity will never stand for anything. However, as a father with 4 young sons, it would be difficult to be a member of a mainline Church. My wife and I would constantly have to be extra careful to watch out for our children and teach them what they might have been taught at Church was wrong. Raising them in fear and admonition of the Lord is my responsibility, and if a Church is not a trustworthy means than it’s a problem.

I was raised in the old Presbyterian Church in the United States (also known as the Southern Presbyterian Church), which ceased to exist in 1983 when it was absorbed into what is now the PCUSA. Roughly nine years later, to no one's surprise more than my own, I sensed a call to ministry. I was on the Evangelical side of thing and shared many of his aspirations to turn things around but quickly came to the conclusion that that wasn't likely. I decamped for the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (similar in many ways to the PCA) and, of course, eventually became an Anglican. I wish him well, but don't think that the reform that for which he hopes is likely within the PCUSA. New ministers must run the gamut of theological examinations on the floor of presbytery; in many cases those will be designed to root out conservatives. Nearly fifty years ago the case of Walter W. Kenyon established that those who cannot accept the ordination of women need not apply. Candidates can also expect to be questioned about whether or not they affirm homosexuals in ministry and marriage. Regarding tithes, while they go to the local congregation per capita payments are expected to be made to presbytery and the higher courts of the church so, yes, support for progressive programs at the denominational level is a fact of life. The Book of Confessions of the PCUSA contains many historic confessions, including the Westminister Standards, the Scots Confession, and the Heidelberg Catechism. It also includes the Confession of 1967, which is very problematic. First Presbyterian, Hollywood, is more conservative than the denomination at large, largely because they have had a number of sound ministers of long tenure (including Lloyd Ogilvie, who later served as Chaplain of the U.S. Senate). Again, I wish him well but for me roughly thirty years ago remaining in the PCUSA would've been very problematic and history has vindicated the wisdom of my departure.
@ExNihiloComesNothing
@ExNihiloComesNothing Год назад
Yeah he is very naive to think this will work with top down leadership style designed now to detect and root out biblical ministers. Anglicans have similar issues. I served on vestry and was the only one opposed to nominating a woman to go to seminary. I am happy at a Baptist church now.
@Psalm144.1
@Psalm144.1 Год назад
I noticed you mentioned becoming an Anglican. I was baptized in an Episcopal Church (My Mother’s parish), but was raised in my Dad’s PCUSA church being that it was closer to where we lived after they moved across town. Now a maturing Christian and taking some classes at RES, I’m skeptical about the ACNA and REC also for other reasons. Since 2018, several dioceses now have WO. The Pittsburgh diocese didn’t permit WO until recently for instance. If anyone speaks against it with the vigor that Paul would have, they are told they’re not nice and understanding. The “nice police” silence them. Many of the women seeking ordination are often also into groups like Revoice. On the flip side, REC has drawn a line against WO, but I’m worried that over time it becomes an Anglo-Catholic haven which has other gospel problems in a boiling the frog kind of way. Across North American Anglicanism in general, even the evangelical Protestants look and act like they’re into “Catholicism,” not Catholicity (like the authority of Holy Scriptures / apostolic doctrines of the New Testament, and or Articles 1 - 5, and the Creeds).

A reconquista is not unprecedented: Commenting on a creed drafted at the Council of Sirmium (359), St Jerome wrote: "The whole groaned and was astonished to find itself Arian." Arianism has been dead since soon thereafter. On the other hand, based on the arguments I have heard here, I could be persuaded to launch a reconquista of that so-called church styling itself the Roman Catholic Church, which is also scrambling for pastors and whose current Pope has engendered a revolt not seen since 1517.

@@bjblazkowicz120 @bjblazkowicz120 If people are TRULY forced to choose between beautiful buildings and the gospel, (which they aren't - PCUSA still has gospel-preaching churches and EPC/PCA have some beautiful churches) then of course, preserve the gospel, but then building new beautiful churches should be a top priority. However, despite being around longer than any other major Presbyterian denomination, the OPC has yet to do so. They'll claim that there was no way it could have gone otherwise, but somehow, other conservative offshoots, like the EPC, ECO, and even the PCA to a lesser extent were able to have some beautiful historic buildings. @@redeemedzoomer6053 No. That is an unfair assessment. I am an OPC member. I have also been a member of the PCA and RCUS. If a church that was once a great church is now apostate, that is a judgment. We are commanded as believers to not forsake assembling. I think what the writer of Hebrewsis talking about Biblical fellowship that nourishes the soul. Not getting together with progressives and having yourself tested. I think that warning to the Corinthians is also very relevant. It is not our job to sink with the ship. To my recollection, the concern for some was that at the merger they adopted all the various confessions of the UPC. Some members of the PCUS felt that by not choosing one confession, specifically the Westminster Confession, it would be difficult to hold clergy accountable. It's unclear if the results of the merger bore out these concerns, but it was part of the reason many churches fled to the PCA. I will say that whenever a mainline denomination adopts its confessions as "historical documents" they no longer seem to have the power to hold clergy accountable. It is Cod who does the saving and God doing the baptism. As I grew, so did my faith. To think that you have an infantile faith at 8 or 10 is silly. When you’re catechized in God’s Word, your faith grows. It doesn’t necessarily correlate with your age. I had a strong faith at a young age. Why is the Church floundering and the evil in culture gaining hold over the family? Because babies are no longer being baptized and catechized in the faith like in all of history. Because parents are more interested in other things and don’t fight to keep the family together. I like how the interviewee describes salvation/being born again is not a one size fits all.

To the redeemed zoomer, my question and concern is what do we do if we want to get out of the PCUSA ? It seems to be absolutely no benefit to us but causes much frustration to us. We are conservative so that’s not the problem. We are a very small church as are many country churches (45 to 50 members). We can’t afford a full time minister but we had the same minister for over 20 years. He retired and we have now found a young lay speaker willing to pastor our church. We have hired him on contract for 6 months at a time. However the Presbytery is constantly questioning us on how we are doing this and that. We aren’t doing anything different than the last pastor did for 20 plus years. They tell us they have to hire the ordained person to do communion, to be moderator at our monthly meetings, and all this costs additional money when we can do this ourselves. You comment that the liberal churches are falling away and while they should be, that is not what I am seeing. It’s our little conservative churches that are dying off due to lack of people coming to church and the ones trying to hold it together have to follow these rigid guide lines. We just want to stay a conservative little church following the Bible & break away from the Presbytery ( our boss who we pay annually & yet we answer to and adhere to their rules). Advice?
