Pretty neat tool! It's like the best of both world between a tremelno and an arming adjuster. I use arming adjusters a lot for situations with an D tuna, but you lose all fluttering with them. Tremolno is pretty nice too, but I've had issues with the thumb screws getting lose over time and even falling out unexpectedly.

Trevor Wilkinson solved the "scary trem" problem back in the 80's when he invented the VS 100-C convertible trem system. When you're not using it, it's a stoptail bridge; the moment you swing the arm forward, it converts to a floating trem, and switches back once you let it go again. Unfortunately, Gibson sued Wilkinson claiming that the VS 100-C violated the Steinberger JamTrem patent (which it didn't; they work in completely different ways) and somehow won. After that, the Wilkinson convertible became scarcer than hens teeth! It's too bad, too, because it really works, and will even let you finish a song if you break a string.

Yeah, the ZPS2 thingy on the Ibanez is basically the same thing, though. Notice the metal bar at the bottom of the system. You could adjust your Edge Zero2 in a way that the trem block will rest on this metal bar and this functions as the backstop from then on. Pretty neat system. ;)

Nice to see company's comming up with more reliable, robust and quality trem stabilization systems. In my defence, I'm a lefty and most of budget range lefty guitars are either equipped with cheap floyd ross licenced 2 point floaters or wilkinson vintage knockoffs with plethora of intonation and stability issues. My very first guitar was a jackson js32 dinky with a chewed up floyd pivot point. It was the only guitar I could find at the moment and was kinda brand new. Anyways, interacting with that guitar's floyd ross bridge scarred me for life. Even now, whenever I see a premium quality guitar equipped with a decent or high end floating bridge system, I can't help having qualms and intimidation, thanks to my past experiences.

Good demo, Darrell. I have a couple guitars with trems, and a couple with stop tails that don't move. Truthfully, regardless of type, I don't use a trem when playing, so don't have a lot of interest in this. I do like the simple, straightforward analog tech involved - despite being called a "switch," there's no electronics / batteries / electrical switches, so it's pretty simple, once you get the adjustments spot-on.

I've been playing almost 40 years and I've only ever broken the high E (and less than five times) so I've got to wonder what kind of abuse people are inflicting on their guitars? Should we report these people to Instrument Control? ;-) All kidding aside, I've always hated those very issues with floating trems, and having over 20 guitars, I might actually have to give this a try on one of them and see if it helps out. Another great post, Darrell. Cheers.

I had a Laguna with a lever on the bridge that was for doing the same thing, but it wasn't perfect. It dropped the string but still required some tuning adjustment after, despite being advertised as drop tuning on the fly. I really liked that guitar, but the Laguna version of the Floyd Rose was kinda crap. The handle was always really loose cus it just snapped in rather than screwing down.

The version of the stab i'm installing on my guitars has a reverse spring instead of a switch. The bridge lies on the stab permanently and the spring sustain the tune. With the wammie bar you can pull the bridge and band up pushing the stab backward. The only cons is that the system becomes a little bit harder to play. Try it out, you will be surprised. Just few euros on aliexpress. Let me know. Ps the section of the cavity for the back screw is too thiny to hold the tension. Normally needs a little reinforce on the wood at the pickups side.

Hey thanks for the video dude. I guess you have to put holes in your guitar you have to drill to put new screws in I think for most people if they have you know guitars they really like that they don't want to you know do something like that that's non-reversible in the sense that you'll have holes in your guitar I guess that's not an option. And I guess it's not an option for bixby's? I'm not sure on that point. But my Bixby stays in tune I have a hollow body scratch and it works fine it's a trapeze type I think it's the seven and the Bixby seven seems to do what it's supposed to do. Still getting used to it even though I have it for months now I'm not or have never been a trim user. I had a trim on my first guitar which was a 69 Gibson SG standard it had a Bixby on it but you couldn't use it. Brought it back to the place where I bought it in Manhattan in the music district. They used to be a music district for my mistaken it was 47 and 48th street. Every music store that you can imagine and can imagine was at that two blocks in manhattan. There was one great guitar store that's not there anymore. This guitar store was called we buy and sell used guitars. A perfect name for exactly what they did. Their store was literally Walter wall from floor to ceiling used guitars. All different ranges. At the time I paid $325 for that 69 Gibson SG standard with a case. If you take that money and fiddle it to a with inflation to today it was an expensive guitar. Although at that time which was about 1981 I would estimate there wasn't much there wasn't much call for gibson's. When I needed to sell it I was offered a gig in California San Francisco to play drums for a band. That was my main instrument and I guess still is. I play professionally for years whereas the guitar I just taught myself so I can write my own music. But I couldn't sell it for anything this was already 83 nobody wanted to buy it. I ended up trading it in at Berkeley music store in Berkeley California for $240 worth of credit. Of which I bought symbols got a really good deal on the symbols though they were all zildjian brand new high hats and use the ride and crash. But like I said it wasn't much demand for that guitar. Boy I wish I had it now lol. It'd be worth a little bit more money I think than the 325 even with inflation but it is what it is. My first guitar after 35 years or 32 years whatever of not touching the guitar. I had gone blind in the interim and really stop playing guitar at that point. And my first guitar I bought again was a used SG special gibson. I called it my special special cuz it was a special order wine red high gloss. 2005. In 2005 the SG special came with what they call the one finish which was really a faded satin finish. Two humbuckers 490 t and 490r. Didn't really like them at first but I want to love them. Anyway I love that guitar it got me started again I now have six and this week will be purchasing number 7. I'm going for the tribute 59 less Fall by epiphone. Seems like a really good deal for that price. Anyway this became more of a short anyway sincerely yours, Bob the blind bedroom guitarist sincerely yours, Bob the blind bedroom guitarist

My strat has a Floyd Rose and keeps tune very well but the body isn’t routed for it. I like my action low but because of no route I can’t pull up but only push down like a normal strat trem.

EVH had his Floyd set so it was sitting flush with the body of his guitar. He said it gave better tone and resonance with the body, plus when he broke strings, the guitar stayed in tune.

My first guitar at 12 years old was a Kramer w/ a Floyd Rose II tremolo. It looked really cool, but keeping the intonation/action/etc. right was a nightmare.

Shouldn't it lock from both sides for it to maintain pitch even after tuning?

I'm wonder about investing in one of those add-on tremolos that Guitarfetish sells. Putting one on a Telecaster, for instance. (Yay, Blue Jays!)

it'll be fair to mention that there are a couple of alternative systems on the market. I've been using the Rockinger Black Box Tremolo Stabilizer for years, because it is very cheap. All-pats offer a more complex version for 3 times the price. Never-the-less, the fzg solutions appears to be very stable and consistent. And the real value-add to the exististing systems is a consistent quick change option, which is not as elegant with the existing solutions. Well done and very promising. Definitely worth a glance

Zps-3 on Ibanez did a good job keeping the string break tune loss problem. Wish they still used it

They still use it in the very high end J.Custom line, for example the RG8570Z. They also use the Edge Zero II with ZPS3FE in the Premium line

@@jhmusic1 I figured they might in the high end. That with the zr2 trem was so unique and fun
