Dude after driving 150,000 miles on 2 sets of those Michelin's I'll tell ya they are WAY better than they look. They're quiet smooth fuel efficient and VERY decent in the winter.

Furthermore....I'll have to say that even though I'm looking for a larger tire for my 2020 Tundra TRD PRO that the stock Michelin LTX at2's did very well in the snow storm in ohio last week. It almost felt like I was on dry ground so I didn't even need 4 wheel drive. I put my truck back in 2 wheel and had no problems at all. I hate to get new tires just for the look of it so may try to let these wear out some but I wish Toyota would have put at least a 33 inch tire on these PRO's from factory.

I have put many, MANY, miles on Michelin LTX AT's and they are terrific in every way! They may not have the looks you like, but I *never* got stuck with them in nearly 200,000 miles. That includes 18" snowstorms with 3' drifts.
@dalephillips8250
@dalephillips8250 3 года назад
@@waltergoggle5597 that's awesome and it makes me feel confident with mine. What type of vehicles did you have them on? People tell me they are not near as good as duratracs but man I was really surprised and happy at how well they gripped in this last snowstorm while driving in about 4 to 6inches of snow. What size were yours...maybe I'll just get them 1 inch taller and forget the duratracs. I have 4 more of them with only 6k on them but they are only 32inches tall also 275/65/18

Tacoma’s are so great. My favorite childhood memory of the our ‘98 Taco is when our neighbors suburban diesel broke down in front of our house and my dad towed him home. Here in South Africa those Toyota trucks were rated at 1 ton (2200lb). I don't understand why everything which is available in both market has such different ratings. 1500 lb is nothing. On the family farm they are often loaded to double that.
@8__D
@8__D 3 года назад
Different nations have different safety standards that need to be met ( braking distance, suspension not bottoming out, etc)
@gregculverwell
@gregculverwell 3 года назад
@@8__D I assumed that was the case, but in reality 1 ton was just fine. No braking problems and the suspension only bottomed out if you didn't slow down on bad dirt roads. Not that bottoming out was a problem - nothing ever broke, they weren't driven with any sympathy and did around 600 000m. They died of rust, not wear.
@8__D
@8__D 3 года назад
@@gregculverwell ya I agree, American truck ratings are defiantly way underrated for guaranteed safety. I’ve load my 2000 Silverado with 2700 lbs when it’s payload is 1700 lbs and towed 12,000 lbs when it’s rated for 7,000 lbs. The trucks can certainly handle this without catastrophic failures, but if you take an overloaded truck onto roads with a lot of traffic you’ll certainly notice how much your stopping distance increases and overall handling diminishes, so you must adjust your driving accordingly to stay somewhat safe.

I have the same Michelin LTX2 tires on my 2000 Toyota TRD Tacoma. No issues on rocky roads, 2 foot deep snow, ice, water fording, not so deep mud, etc. In deep Mud, with the underpowered 3.4, it wouldn't matter what tire you had. You still get stuck. I've had swampers on it, and they were noisy on the road, and wobbled the truck like crazy. Two different shops couldn't get them balanced correctly even with a ton of weights. Traded to BFG Mud T/A, better, but still some balance / wobble issues. Switched to the LTX's, and all those problems went away. Considering they look like a street tire, they do amazingly well. Anything the truck itself is capable of, they're good for.

My Mom has a Toyota Tacoma same tan from 2015 the one with the back seat for passengers and that thing is a nice compromise in the way its gas milage is for a pickup, the amount it can haul and the fact it can get passengers in the back. Its flaws are if you are over 5 foot 5 inch the person has to look odd out the windshield, the fact it can't haul what most eras of F--150 or Chevy Silverado/GMC 1500 can, the odd need for the step on and duck to get in due to how tall the suspension is on the newer Tacoma's are after the first few years of production.

Used my Tacoma to pull my father in law's F-350 back onto a drive way sideways after he went off plowing snow.

The payload capacity on a 1st gen Tacoma is 1625 lbs so I think you would have been fine putting a 1500 pound bail of hay in it.

I don’t know whatever Toyota did when it comes to the Tacoma’s they did it right because like you said they are a beast of a little truck even the 2WD models they can do it much before I drive but some of those 2WD models came with the rear locker i’m not mistaking and they were bad to the bone for 2 wheel drive

Hey guys why don't you put as low a set of rear end gears and a lincoln locker in the F150. Something around 5:13. Treat it like a tractor.
