We have decided on a name for our new fainting billy goat. Also Gracie, our Nigerian dwarf goat has been with Dexter our Nigerian dwarf billy goat for over 2 months now, so we hope she is bred. We are planning on taking Gracie back to the barn with the other female goats. And we are going to move all the boy goats in the same pen together. Hopefully our two billy goats will get along living together in the same pen.

Nice looking herd you assembled. I think goats are a great addition for a farm family and they can pull on the old heart strings for sure.

You 11+might find it easier to move your goats around if u put colors on all of them. Then I can use a leash to manipulate them.they may need some training to get them happy about the leash. But you are bigger, u will win if you don't get to feeling sorry when they bleat. Love you two and your farm. Mrsjob

Good job getting the boys sorted out. I actually thought it would be a tougher fight than it was! Dexter upending Chewie right away probably gave the new guy a hint that he wasn't going to be top Billy!

the scratcher reminds me a bit of what the mongolians use to brush the cashmere hair off the goats... 4 goats per sweater.

I separated my two boys and two girls about 2 weeks ago... They share a fence so they were still able to see each other and I realized that was perpetuating fights between the boys still as my dominant boy was taking ownership over every little thing from the shelter to the hay feeder to the gate to the whole fence that the female shared. He basically wouldn't let the other boy go anywhere near the common areas and shared spaces. Pretty terrible right!? So I had to put sheet metal up between the fences so there was no visual of the girls, and that absolutely helped to relax things. Now here's my question for you, one of my female dose is Young and she's a bigger goat and she needs to run and stretch her legs a lot, and I used to let them all out together in a common area that has a lot of room to run and it's where the humans hang out. The boys being in rut means they aren't coming out of their yard until the season is over, but is it turns out even when the girls are out they tend to taunt and tempt and tease the boys still and it's a nightmare how crazy it makes the boys. The girls can't resist going over to say hi, and the boys get tense and fight and get crazed and crazy. I mean how close do you recommend I should keep boys and girls?? I don't know that it's possible to completely block their views of each other in every yard that I put them in unless I completely make a new yard that doesn't touch any of these fences and basically completely separate my boys to a different area all together. Which I would hate to do because then they would be isolated. Any suggestions?? What has everyone here done? How far apart do you guys keep the boys and girls yards from each other? Thank you for any assistance! And this was a great video thank you guys!

Btw Evan, I saw that you are pretty handy with a welder. And you have a log splitter. If I might make a suggestion, make yourself a 3 or 4 way blade. If you look up, Andrew Camarata he has video upload on how he made one. Sure saved him a lot of time. Take care, Sir😎

I do not have goats, but I always thought from the videos I have watched, how the male goats may not be getting the human interaction they might need because they stink and people may not want to touch them. I know I wouldn't want to touch them, but I felt bad for them. I have not watched every video out there, but I have not seen anyone else do that with a back scratcher or anything else for the connection. How clever of you and how thoughtful you are!

That is so cool. I would love to have a half dozen goats or so that I could move around our property to help with clearing. The problem is us not being able to be there every day to take care of them. Soon though...

On a video on U-Tube a site called Lumnah Acres built hay feeders for his goats so they don't waste so much hay. He says what they pull out and it falls on the ground they will not eat so it goes to waste. Watching his videos I see he is saving a lot of hay.
@mrdio4625

Gotta be careful wit Lumnah though. Most of the time he is reliable, but he also tends to go off the deep end at times. No telling how long he tried to trap predators when he left a chicken out over night and it froze to death. Clearly HIS negligence but he couldn't or wouldn't accept that and move on. Great folks but he can be sketchy.
