This was the question my sweet 6 year old had. She said we shouldn’t hate anyone and should pray for all. We had to have a talk about humans and angles. It was so touching tho that she wanted his salvation and for him to end up loving God.

Also the story of St. Anthony interested me so I looked it up and I saw the demon‘s response “if I wanted to call myself the ancient evil, and the abomination of desolation, and the one darkened by delusion, I would have done it earlier, in the beginning” I thought that response was interesting cause it shows the devils understand salvation requires a complete renunciation of their past and they don‘t have the same progressive sense humans do so the reaction kinda hints to me it would be harder for them to repent if not impossible, but only God knows.

I would say, no. The demons hate mankind with an unimaginable malice. Im sure they get a kick out of a human praying for their souls.

I used to after encountering God and satan but long before I was Christian until I felt compelled not to so I'll be very interested in an Orthodox answer to a question I haven't asked since entering the Church. I think demons and angels are too aware of their choices to be capable of repentence like us.

Like we cannot allow ourselves to be abused we still pray for the heart of our abusers to be changed, while we wish for the devil to repent we cannot allow ourselves to succumb to him. If you say that the devil's heart is unchangeable, and let's say that you're telling me the truth - can God not still change his heart? Can the lord not do the impossible? If we are condemned eternally, can God not forgive us beyond eternity? Let's hope and pray like the father of the latin church that hell is empty, for hope is our gift while the power is God's.

Wasn't Mark Twain a Christian? I haven't actually read all of his works so maybe this was in character from an atheist or something, Dosoevsky style. Like, he didn't actually take the objection seriously, but said it in chactacter from the perspectifve of someone who who is an atheist and does. Does anyone have a guess as to what allows for the inherent suffering in nature of all animals eating one another? I have heard this has to do with Adam sinning but I don't know why the poor little animals should be punished for such a thing. Parasites ticks and tapeworms slowly killing an animal from the inside out😢 Komodo dragons biting their prey and following them for weeks while they slowly die of infection.,... Know the way that cats like to play with the animals they kill whom are obviously in great pain and terror...... What kind of benevolent God would set things up in this way? Because apparently all of this is quite necessary for life itself to continue, so if suffering is evil then life must be evil? there's a Buddhist sect of monks called Jains, their ambition is not to kill anything, of course they're vegetarians, But they wear masks to keep from breathing in microscopic organisms, and wear pads on their feet when walking through grass so it's not to kill in a little creatures in the grass. It always makes me think how futile it is to try to be moral in this way because life is something that devours itself to continue.

It is useless and also possibly sinful, because you go against God's decision to punish someone. We pray for people, because they can change at time. Same way we don't pray for unbaptised and those who died in mortal sin, only if we are uncertain and pray that God will reveal it to us. Satan made his choice in eternity and therefore there will be no point in time for his salvation. We don't pray for angels because we assured they chose God in eternity. Why we should not follow the same logic for Satan?

I know praying for Satan is useless in this life, but I pray that in eternity he might be blessed with even a single tear of repentance as he suffers in hell. Is it useless? Probably. But I still pray out of charity.

The "face" of Christianity and the internal reality don't really line up. This is rather frustrating.

If anything, we should pray for "Yahweh"/"Jehovah" because Jesus says that "Yahweh" is more evil than the most evil of the Jews who were plotting the crucifixion in Matthew 7:7-12, due to "Yahweh's" demonic behavior in Exodus, specifically "Yahweh's" cursing his own children the Israelites with vipers because they dared to ask for bread in the wilderness. Although it probably wouldn't work for the reasons you describe.
