According to the new rules we can no longer stay in Turkey. Good behavior... 20 years of living here in Turkey? I all does not matter. Rules are rules. Is there a way... Maybe...
Join us while we fight to be able to stay in the country we love so much but is ruined by bad management.
New rules are rolling out every few months. And the latest make that we no longer meet the requirements. Here they are:
1- Only homeowners will receive a 2-year residence permit.
Spouses whose names are not on the title deed will receive a 6-month residence permit and will make an income commitment and enter money into their accounts in Turkish lira, one and a half times the monthly minimum wage. (26000 Liras for now)
2- Foreigners who rent a house will also have to extend their residence permit for 6 months and make an income commitment and receive money into their Turkish lira accounts at one and a half times the monthly minimum wage. New applications have been closed for foreigners renting.
3- Retired foreigners will also receive a 6-month residence permit and will make an income commitment and enter money into their Turkish lira accounts at one and a half times the monthly minimum wage.
4- This application does not affect those who are married to a Turkish citizen; there is no change in the application for family residences.
5-This application does not affect homeowners, there is no change for them in the application. They will receive a 2-year residence permit. They are not responsible for depositing money into the bank account.
6- If your name is listed on the title deed jointly with a friend or sibling, you cannot obtain home ownership residence. You will receive a tourist residence permit for 6 months and you will need to make an income commitment and enter money into Turkish lira accounts one and a half times the monthly minimum wage.
7- If there is more than one name on the title deed, only the husband, wife, parents and their children can obtain homeowner's residence (This application is only carried out by the Fethiye Immigration Administration).
8-Your title deed purchase date and its value on the date of purchase are very important. Application will be made according to the limits of the period you purchased. Having a title deed does not directly give you the right to obtain a residence permit.
9- New application is still closed for tourism purposes, except for retirees. Retirees must bring their income from their country with apostille, and this income must be one and a half times the minimum wage.

It saddens me that after spending 20 years there and supporting the economy in your way - living peacefully and sharing the wonderful areas with others - decisions now have to be made. Hoping you can find a happy solution that suits you and is safe for years to come. Your positivity shines through. All the very best.

Hello. I'm sure you have thought about this before I tell you but I'm going to suggest it anyway. If you have to leave Turkey why don't you just take your car and go to Cyprus for the 90 days you have to stay out of the country and then you can return to Turkey for 3 months. This way you will spend 6 months a year in Turkey and 6 months in Cyprus which is similar to Turkey in weather and lifestyle. Wishing you all the best. Danny from Ireland 😊😊

You need 28000 liras a month coming in in a Turkish bank account even if you had millions in a euro or dollar account. So that problem will not go away. A funding page... maybe... if we are forced to leave. I have very mixed emotions on that. Giving is easier than receiving haha

If you'll allow me, I'd like to give you the following advice: If you're lying in bed at night again and can't fall asleep because of all the worries, please ask yourself what you're changing by thinking about these things all night long. You don't change anything for the better and you don't change anything for the worse. The only thing you're doing is keeping yourself from sleeping, and that can't be good or beneficial for you. Just try to block out everything that is bothering you and, if possible, keep everything away from you that creates unrest inside you. If you take the time to read it, I would like to tell you about my own experience. I once went for a walk on the beach and had the feeling that the water was calling me. At first I dismissed it as a nonsensical imagination, but after a while the calling became stronger and I was sure that the water was calling me to it. At some point I couldn't resist this call and went into the water. I played with the waves, jumped over them, swam under them and constantly against them. Until at some point it suddenly became very quiet. I turned around and wanted to go back to shore, but realized that I was in the middle of the sea. I could only just see the tops of the trees from about 2km away. So I was already this far into the open sea. At first I was amazed because just a moment ago I was able to jump over the waves and now I couldn't believe how I could suddenly find myself so far in the sea. Then I tried to swim slowly and effortlessly back to the shore, but by this point I had already exhausted myself so much that I barely had the strength to swim back. And then the miracle happened. I'm not a particularly brave person, so it wasn't like I had any composure and wanted to fearlessly swim to shore. But for some reason I felt like I wouldn't be able to make it back, but still I wasn't afraid in the slightest. I let myself fall and was ready to die. This may sound unbelievable, but it really was true. I wasn't afraid one bit. And suddenly I actually had ground under my feet and could stand. I remained in place for a minute as if petrified and gathered all my strength and as soon as I took a step forward I fell into the water and as I was swimming up I saw that I was standing on a piece of earth that looked like a mountain with a peak led above. I was amazed and still swam back slowly and with little effort. But after just a few minutes I ran out of breath again. Since I had already had three heart attacks, my condition wasn't the best either. And when I was in danger of drowning again, the sea kept washing me up and forward towards the shore. It took an eternity until we finally had solid ground under our feet again. But I couldn't move away from the water for easily half an hour. From that moment on, I not only have a very special bond with water, but I also learned that you simply shouldn't fear anything. Don't be afraid, trust in your inner strength and your divinity and nothing can happen to you! I hope my story can make you think a little differently about one thing or another. Imagine life is a river. We are nothing more than little pieces of wood floating on this river. If we resist, we will be beaten from rock to rock. But if we trust the water, if we don't feel fear, the river of life will take us past all the rocks and cliffs, unscathed and well protected.

Wow great story. Thank you for taking the trouble to post it. I had cancer two times (not related) and had to face it head on. Both times I refused medication like chemo. Same effect. No fear. My problem is that I have an adrenalin problem. If that tap opens a few times I does not close. And if it's strong enough one does not sleep anymore. @tengri70 13 часов назад
@@AtHomeInTurkey Many thanks for your response. I can recommend the following to you, but first I have to say that I have no medical background or any medical training, so just a recommendation from me. I do it like this: about 50g. Mugwort, 50gr. real natural honey and 50 gr. Pour real olive oil into a small container, stir well and store in the refrigerator overnight. Then take a tiny little spoonful every day before breakfast and on an empty stomach, i.e. before you drink water, coffee, tea, etc. and have not eaten anything. If you like, you can also add 50g. Add dandelions. I don't think you'll ever have to worry about cancer again after this, nor will you need any medication for it. But I can also recommend the following really incredibly nice things, especially when it comes to your fears: 1. Every day you stand with bare feet on damp, or even better, really wet and muddy ground. You just have to make sure that the floor is really pure earth. So no meadow, no sand, no gravel, asphalt, etc. but really wet earth. 2. It is best to start this exercise every day in the first hour of sunrise or in the last hour of sunset. This is so important because the sun emits little or only very weak UV rays during these times and therefore you are not at risk of blindness or damage to your eyesight. And during these two times you just look directly at the sun for about 5-10 seconds. You increase these times by another 5-10 seconds each time. Of course, you can do this exercise several times a day. While you look at the sun, you must try, like in meditation, to let the sun consciously and directly into your third eye, i.e. into your pineal gland. Everything we eat as food needs 4 specific elements in order to be able to become what we later eat as food. And by doing the exercise described above daily or regularly, you connect directly and unfiltered with the energy of our Mother Earth. The consequences of these regular exercises are: You gradually lose the “ability” to feel fear! This is not a specific fear such as fear of illness, fear of social or financial losses, fear of death... but really all types and forms of fears. Over time you simply become absolutely unresponsive to fears of any kind. After about 2-3 weeks you will notice that you need up to 30% less food, but you feel neither hungry, tired or drained, but rather healthy and alert. You feel fitter, healthier, more energetic and simply cheerful. After 3-6 months, however, the fantastic begins. After this time, depending on how consciously you can do this exercise, you will begin to be able to actually see the auras of those around you! That's no joke! You look at complete strangers that you have never seen or spoken to before and you immediately know what kind of nature and character they have. This exercise doesn't cost you anything, you don't have to buy anything, acquire anything, and you don't have to do any seminars or anything like that. And, if you have trouble standing on your feet for long periods of time, you can even do this exercise while sitting. For example, I cleared a piece of meadow in my garden, weighed down the earth about 10cm deep with a small spade so that my feet were completely covered with wet earth and sat down in front of it on a small chair and spent about 20-30 minutes . The earth not only supplies us with the energy we desperately need, but also literally sucks everything negative out of us. You just have to be able to consciously engage with it. Like meditation. If you can't open up to it, it's no use. As I said, I must expressly say that I have no medical background and that these recommendations from me are purely personal recommendations. I would be happy to hear from you again. Best wishes and all the best to you and your husband, health and a beautiful life!

Small cats have one of the fastest reflexes in the whole animal kingdom. I believe there are not many poisonous snakes left in Turkiye. We do have many cats protecting us :) We really get along well with cats. Dogs are okey but they form gangs when their numbers increase. They become dangerous for human kids and elderly.

Entry visa wise, entering TR should only be as difficult for you as it is for a Turk to enter your country. Is it the case? Residence permit wise, staying in TR should only be as difficult for you as it is for a Turk to live in your country. Is it the case? Can Turks enter YOUR country and reside there without visa and permit obstacles?

@@AtHomeInTurkey Yes, you have Right for this. They should have done it 20 years ago, this only shows the weakness of the Turkish country, forgetting that there are Turkish people living in Germany and Europe. Feeling foreign in other countries is normal, but we are all brothers and sisters in this world, we come from the same Father and Mother, this world does not belong to people and nations, this world together with the entire universe belongs only to God and no one else ... Why would someone say to me: get out of my country, this is not your country? ... Haaa ???

Madam, I can comprehend your emotions given the current circumstances you are facing. However, what baffles me is that after all these years of residence in the country, much of your communication, as you've mentioned, remains non-verbal. I believe that demonstrating a higher level of societal integration might have elicited a more favorable response from the authorities. Anyways I wish you luck.

I can see your point. But communicating over the phone remains to be difficult. Plus the technical communication about a car is not my best subject. For the rest I do fine with my Turkish. But without a Turkish partner of job (We are not allowed to work) I simply do not encounter enough Turkish. I keep myself to myself live remote and have little social life. This is how I want it to be, but it won't bring me a better understanding of the Turkish language.

If you do not work or have a Turkish partner you simply do not talk enough Turkish to become fluent. I know only a few that do. And if you keep yourself to yourself like me you never will. I can get around without a problem but not on all subjects.

A quick Look at the rules you described, looks like you’ll be ok but Ken need to do some work based on points 1, 5, & 8. I’m sure there’ll be a way out and it all comes down to $. It’s understandable that the gov releases those new rules considering the economic & finance issues they’re facing but it’s the same gov that causes these issues imo, ie bad management. I’ve been puzzled by how the Turkish people managed the inflation pressure over the years. It’s still a mystery to me. Luckily Turkiye is situated on a great land rich in resources with hardworking & resilient people. Anyway may God and Allah bless you, Ken & Timo and the Turkish people.❤

@@AtHomeInTurkeythere’re several factors contributing to the inflation in the last decades, including monetary, currency & economy (both local & global), I guess migrants/ refugees are the easy targets to blame. 😢 Hopefully Ken will get to stay on the medical grounds. Fingers crossed 🤞
