This was the most frustrating and entertaining series to watch on stream lol

Deathtrap would be so much more viable if 1: He did more than his lightning beam on bosses/large enemies and 2: if his HP and defense scaled better.

Even to this day, as a main Gaige player, I'm still wondering if modders could alter Deathtrap's A.I. to be more competent.

With how terrible the robot is, this run is truly a DeathTrap

OK, this brings out two important points 1. Joltz is the most patient person in the world 2. This game being awesome does need balancing for deathtrap

For One Two Boom, Gaige would have to use the starter pistol to detonate Deathtrap's electric orb for about the equivalent damage of roughly 8 seconds of melee attacks over a large AoE. I don't think enemy guns or barrel explosions can detonate the orb. It has to be activated by friendly projectile fire.

Loved that Deathtrap’s laser was timed perfectly with Bloodwing’s death

Deathtrap was much more useful earlier around launch. After scaling and things were rebalanced for UVHM release, Deathtrap is completely useless halfway through TVHM outside a few builds. But he becomes completely useless in UVHM with basically any build.

I personally like gaige, I just wish her damage was better, I like her voice lines, and just her personality in general, her skins are cool too and her default head and skin is by far my favourite for any character even tho it's the default skin

Challenge idea, you can't drop or sell any weapons you pick up until you complete the takedowns (or OP LVLs for bl2). so you'll have to drag low level weapons to their fullest, with only 50 weapon slots for the whole game can you do it?

I noticed that you didn't go for anything in the health upgrade area if I remember correctly one of them allows you to not just upgrade your own health but prolong how long death trap can stay out

I genuinely never remember that the Gulag even exist as a mechanic. I have never had it happen and I think only these challenge runs are where I have ever seen it happen

My favorite things about these challenge are finding the obscure strats to get through some parts like the cars in the dust. And that feeling of “it’s possible” after every big challenge. Loved this video homie!

This is definitely an interesting format to put your content in! I can’t wait for more, although I do wonder how you plan on handling longer runs that go into OP levels and such

I always thought DT was really strong and would make a good character to speedrun because he could clear enemies behind you as you just run, but I guess that only works if you are super overlevelled. I caught about half of this series on stream, random parts here and there. After all the insanity, Joltz did an amazing job pulling it all together. As always, he is able to turn his pain into humor and entertainment lol great video, Joltz! Thanks for suffering for the community lol Also, the part about control core angel, you would've beaten it if the game didn't bug out. A game this old can't be perfect and I disagree with a game glitch ruining a run. Job well done, Joltz!

I love deathtrap so much. I loved BL2 for years and when I figured out deathtrap that was my main forever. I love that robot!

It really is frustrating to see. Deathtrap could be so powerful if his A.I. was better and he cycled between attacks for the situation or even better if you were able to target enemies and get DT to use specific abilities.

fun fact: you can skip the first constructor before bnk3r by going left of the door hes required to kill before opening there is a ledge you can jump on and just go past the door altogether or slowly kill the constructor from the way

As much as I love playing as Gaige, I was never a big fan of DeathTrap - I mostly used him as utility and a res-bot. To watch you go through the pain - scratch that, agony - of a full run of just DeathTrap damage just to see if it was possible, damn! 🤯 Kudos my friend, that's commitment... 👏👏👏

Man. This just shows how awful DT is at almost everything. Low damage per hit, bad easily confused AI, slow attacks with long wind up times which allow many enemies to to move out of the way. It also has the longest action cool down and doesn’t have enough HP to be a worthwhile tanky distraction.

Would you consider doing this in BL3 but with flak and only using his pets for damage? I feel like it would be the opposite of this, where it would be hard and tedious to begin with, but get easier as you progress

Of course this counts, not only is it insane both the areas where you didn't use death trap were impossible to pass. You could either argue is not possible because death trap can't hit certain targets or it is possible in exactly the way you played it.

tip on the captain flint fight, when you jump down to activate the fight. you can actually rejump back up where you jumped down. there's a metal hump that sticks up, stand on that and run an jump

It would be fair to call this a full DT run, since both of the places you got stuck were due to a bug or glitch, and not really avoidable without you stepping in. But damn what a run, gg!

I would love a mini-series like this. Where you go through the Borderlands games that have AI controlled skills. So Deathtrap, Sabre Turret, Wolf & Saint, and Iron Cub. But see if you can beat the games with just that.

I wonder if this run would be possible without save editing if you farmed more to keep on level with where angels fear to tread? Being a higher level means you could've killed the enemies faster and maybe not bug the eridium injectors?

I love the timing of Deathtrap’s laser to look like he blew up Bloodwing’s head.

Definitely one of those challenges I could see making use of both the BFF & little big trouble trees being good for this, boosted duration durability and cooldown from the former but varied elemental splash damage from the latter. While the ordered chaos is meta normally, all it offers for deathtrap is the spin attack and movement speed, yet still requires burning over 10 points to do so. Shame you didn't realize it till halfway through, but at least you didn't fall into the trap of buck-up lol.

8:50 Wait Wait Wait Hold Up. You actually can kill Warden in the first fight?! I have never killed him in that first fight I didn't think it was possible!!!!! I started a new build as Giage with Anarchy w/ a rocket Launcher and managed it for the first time!!! It was awesomse!!!!

Control core bugging out I feel doesn’t count towards the run being a fail, as you did everything and proved you could do everything, the game just bugged out which isn’t your fault. I say you beat the game and the run is valid, congratulations on completing this painful run, interested in seeing what kinds of challenge runs you do in the future

I like the little stops you're doing to explain things. I would love if you'd continue doing it, it adds more character then just text on the screen. Love it! (Even though it may take more effort to get to your liking).

I know this kind of goes against the idea of the speedrun aspect of the challenge but wouldn't it have made sense to get a shocking immunity or Transformer Shield for the control core angel?

If borderlands 2 ever gets remastered, gaige would benefit the most from a rework. Many of her skills are useless or broken and death trap is underwhelming. Even just making his AI the same as FL4K’s pets would be so much better

Joltz, why didn't you get that skill that makes deathtrap duration longer by five seconds and gives him melee damage bonus each time you/he kills enemy?

the green skill tree is pretty good, you get extra hp for deathtrap, extra damage reduction, and a killskill that stacks duration and damage infinitely. also the clap attack is awesome

I used to farm Exp using Deathtrap and Rakks in the warrior arena that are infinitely spawning. Just have the "gain duration after a kill" node on the skill tree and leave the game on... Other than that, only use I've found for Deathtrap is as a shield booster (and glitching pretty much infinite shield recharge) with one of the capstones. I salute you for going through this endeavor, seemed like such a slog!

For those thinking of doing this themselves I highly recommend the Borderlands Commander mod by Mopiod. It'll allow you to speed up the game and cooldown Deathtrap quickly. Just make sure to find a safe spot in combat first. At 4x speed even a Skag Pup will kill you

I mean, you did the best you could with what you had available. It's not your fault the run is not possible. I will say that even though Angel bugs out when the fight lasts too long, you still made it to destroying one of the injectors, and if you did that it proves that you can get them all...this was a failure in the game's programming. The fight doesn't change, other than getting easier because Lilith starts helping.
