Last time, I beat The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom without Ultrahand. But is it possible to beat the game without using Ultrahand OR Fuse? That's what you'll find out in this video.

Also I think manipulating enemies into fusing stuff for you is fine, it's way more difficult than using the fuse ability yourself and has a ton of limitations.

It’s also just an incredibly creative solution to the problem and also has some limitations, like you can only fuse zonaite swords through that method

@@sinteleon oh I thought that was only regular constructs, captain constructs seem to have the swords as part of their arms so I didn’t think it was possible with them. It never happened for me at least but idk maybe it’s possible, even so it would still take quite a bit of effort to get them a different weapon

I think it's fine, and I think it's especially fine for the no runes challenge. A no runes challenge is almost what would happen if Link never had his arm destroyed, so how would link, without the special arm, manage? Personally, I would love a challenge where Link is still using the Shika slate. Boo to lack of continuity!

I think the idea is that most of the pre-fused items you find in the world were put together with mundane crafting techniques like glue or twine, with the obvious exception of certain zonai enemies.

I prefer using opal for the muktorok boss because the explosion is so big it clears almost all of the sludge, just don’t stay close because it does a ton of damage to you

@@NoahHalfSquid the explosion only occur when throwing it or fusing the opal to an arrow, thats kind of its downsides because you don’t throw that far so you have to run away from the explosion most of the time

Now don’t use ascend or recall. 1:23 An interesting idea I had is to use the captain constructs to see if they can fuse objects to your shield for you, although I haven’t tested it.

Yeah, "No Runes" is going to be super hard. No idea whether the constructs can fuse to shields. I considered testing it more thoroughly, but once I decided not to use the mechanic it would have just been a waste of time.

@@Drengodr I’m going to start testing soon and I’ve just beat ultrahand without speed up food or bomb arrows. Instead of the chest you can use the hook thing, and using a spear moves it much faster.

For shields, because objects in shrines respawn, you can just use that to stock up on spring shields I believe.

@@sinteleon You can’t. The shield spring comes from a chest which won’t respawn the shield unfortunately. Besides, that doesn’t help tackle the main problem which is getting of the GSI, which is very difficult and perhaps even impossible in some versions of the game.

@@Aperson-kq7pt You can. Just.. not in that way. You can duplicate the shield via Save Load Duping. If you’re going to say glitches are barred… then don’t. It is impossible without glitches + glitchless runs are not entertaining to watch.

Great run! I am currently in the middle of a pausless run (no + - d-pad, and rune selection. Basically I get to use the rune once on the GSI and am stuck on recall for the whole game. After 1 mandatory pause, the game is entirely doable. Hope you try it out!

The D-Pad is allowed. The pause functions are not. Tell me, does whistling pause the game? Edit: Is the 1 mandatory pause actually 1? I believe it is 2. There are 2 I know of: Selecting the Camera to take a picture of that statue in the Depths (unless it is autoselected but i don’t think so) Selecting the Camera to take a picture of the stone tablet at the beginning of the Secret of the Ring Ruins quest.

@@paulrance5445 The camera isn’t necessary to beat the game. Secondly, the majority of the d-pad pauses the game; whistling is the only exception, and is useless anyway, so the d-pad doesn’t need to be used.

About the upstream of wind, you now need to throw a hylian pinecone (the ones in the orni region) to a fire, hope it helps

@@Drengodr I remember in BOTW creating wind with fire was disabled in shrines. I'm pretty sure it's the same in TOTK, which is pretty funny considering the twenty other methods the game has for cheesing shrines.

If you allow glitches for your no rune run, you can use the jump-attack shield-switch bullet-time glitch to get infinite height. I feel like it would be required just to do some of the first shrines but I'm not sure

The infinite height glitch you mean. While possible, it is extremely time consuming and difficult to pull off, especially in the ascend shrine. Also, it requires pressing the L button, which I would take as an L in a no-abilities run.

Tips on optimizing your run. Natak shrine, Rotate the sphere so that the hole is right in front of you, change the angle of the spring and shoot it forward onto the island. Then jump out the hole and back in, under the floor to enjoy a sages will. For the armies, use puffshroons and sneak strike them for 8x damage and save you a bunch of durability. Hindi Queen, use dazzle fruits, they hurt her and Gibson like… ALOT lol Demon king, when he throws those balls at you, hit them back at him, if they surround you, do a spin attack to launch them all back at him

A challenge I'm doing right now that I'd love to see someone else attempt is beating the game without ever touching the ground (meaning without ever unlocking the surface level map). It's fun trying to navigate the sky islands and depths without a paraglider, and you can't fast travel between them until you unlock the surface layer which creates some interesting challenges

The portable updrafts are now wood, set wood on fire, toss in hylian pinecone/oil jar. They make massive updrafts that are while annoying because of the cost, rather good.

Runeless is impossible in BotW. In TotK.. it is also impossible. The camera rune is required for 2 main quests. Camerawork in the Depths, and Secret of the Ring Ruins.

⁠@@paulrance5445 Runeless is not possible in botw. I beat the plateau runeless in 2020, and Limcube published a youtube video on beating all shrines runeless around a year ago. In totk it is possible, if you aren’t on the current patch. The camera isn’t necessary to beat the game.

I feel like getting the master sword would make a lot of sense for this. Would make the final boss rush way easier. You would need to get 20 shrines for the stamina requirement, but you already do that and more for this one. Once you’ve got the sword just switch the stamina back to hearts. But the upgraded master sword is a decent weapon in the boss rush. Idk just makes sense to me.

Just a note: you can still do a pseudo bomb-shield jump if you place a bomb on the ground, then shield jump onto it. The height might differ, but I'm not sure

if you drop (not throw) a bomb flower on the floor, and shield-surf directly on it i believe you still get the jump effect.

I think the reason u couldn’t make the updrafts is that they changed it so that the fire has to be there first, either in a campfire or just burning grass, and then throwing on the pepper, pine cone or oil

No, the reason why you can’t start an updraft is that you can’t start an updraft in shrines. This was the same in Botw.

I think that you can make a captain construct make the fused weapon you want by giving it the weapon you want as a base after removing its original weapon, removing everything around it except for the item you want to fuse to the base, let the construct use fuse, then defeat it. Boom. Fused item acquired.

Try using shock fruit or slapping them enough. Usually enemies drop weapons when shock fruit happens, so try that. Or, you can just defeat them

I got one for ya' Legend of Zelda, But you can only use "Magic" Aka, you can only use the special effects that come from infusions to deal damage. Ruleset: - You can only do damage with the effects from infusions, not any weapons - You can use infusions on weapons, but only for the differing effects from the materials fused on them, not the weapon's actual stats - You are only required to beat the final boss and the final attack does not count against the run - Additional Optional Goal: Find the most wizard looking drip for Link that you can.

you want to attempt a no-rune-run? i see no way to get past the ascend shrine... well maybe if you can get springs from the dispenser, though i don't know if the ones in the tutorial do that. and the rewind shrine... yeah that will probably also become a challenge. but good luck!

This is the closest I could find to a question I was pondering: Whether it is possible to complete ToTK without building nor joining anything. That is to say I'd personally allow Ultra-Hand for picking things up to move them (like Magnesis in BotW) but NOT for sticking them together. I WOULD allow Amiibos and glitches, as long as they don't involve sticking anything together. I would NOT allow pre-fused items... or at least not without breaking them apart first. It completely defeats the purpose otherwise. ... But I couldn't find anything about that. This was the closest, and since it uses fused items while also banning moving things with ultrahand AND bans glitches, it is pretty far off what I was hunting for...

.....I don't know WHY it never occurred to me to use arrows on Colgera. I guess when I accidentally'd my way into flying up into one of its weak spots, that became the only way to hurt it, in my brain (I may also have been totally out of arrows).

If you kill wizrobes Or throw chuchu jelly or other items, you can be the gerudo temple Same with the rito… fires with wood fling and wands from wizrobes and you can beat it. I’m not sure about the zora one… from what I remember, you should be able to just use Siddons ability

The issue isn't the temples themselves, but the quests that unlock them. The Zora quest needs Ultrahand to move a chunk of the wall to solve a riddle and Fuse a scale to an arrow. The Gerudo quest needs Ultrahand to move a tower, and the Wind Temple needs Ultrahand to open doors which are needed to complete it

Thanks for clearing it up I wonder if you can just throw the scale through the tear drop, like if you landed on the floating debris that forms it and threw it. If it needs to be attached to something, maybe get the constructs to attach one it a spear with long throw and then use that? Not using it as a weapon or attaching it yourself.
