I think the reason I have road rage is that sometimes people make moves that almost cause you to plow into them and it puts your life in danger, while when you are just walking if you bump into someone you can just say sorry and nothing to worry about. Recently I saw a program that had ex-convicts speaking to people in an anger management course and the ex-convicts kept saying someone cutting you off is not worth going to prison. They said we may not be thinking and act in the heat of the moment and escalation can end up putting you in prison if assault is involved in the confrontation. So I started to say this to myself each time someone cuts me off, "it's not worth going to prison over this idiot."

The difference is, if someone suddenly stops whilst walking, worst case you ‘bump’ into them. Very slim chance of being injured. If you are doing 30,40 or 70mph, and someone cuts you up, the damage will be severe

I had a friend who was able to keep his cool to inhumane levels while driving. When someone on the road does stupid things that warrant a shout to their face, he'd usually just let out a deep sigh or gestures "unbelievable!" with his hands. For around 5 years I've been with him he never even once go raging. Worst thing he did was when someone cut him so bad that caused him to brake real hard, engaging the ABS with tire screeching. He only whispered "did he buy his license?", which was an insane display of composure as I was the passenger, not even driving the car, and I was ready to pull out the tire iron and bash that driver right there. I don't know how he managed to di that, looks like a blessing to me to have such patience

I went to jail for beating the shit out of a guy who came to my car and started to yell at me, just because I overtook him. He was very mad at me, but I said to him ok, sorry you are rigth, but he began to kick my car, and then he broke one of my head ligths. I got out of my car and beat the shit out of him, 2 guys came to stop me and then someone called the police.

I mainly get angry at the overly slow drivers when I'm commuting. So many times I'm stuck in a queue behind an ancient person doing 35, or a mum in an SUV doing 45...

As someone who has bad road rage caused an accident because of it and would have been banned if I was an NT it’s just not worth it but it’s easier said than done, I can only drive supervised dispite having a full licence until I can control it being on the spectrum plus being raised up with my dads ex alcoholic road rage hasn’t helped don’t even know if this guy would help in my case when I go trough psycho anger which is the reason I can’t drive alone but due to the career I desire I’m determined to fix it.

Firstly, the *_physical appearance_* of the vehicle(s) being perceived to be at fault for erroneous decision making on the road, can play a significant role in triggering certain primal physiological instincts. Take for instance the rear lamp cluster of certain cars: Ford Escort mark V hatchback (1990-1993) Fiat Uno (1983-1990) Austin Montego saloon (1984-1992(?)) BMW 3 series (1992-1998/9(?)) Each of these 4 vehicles have rear lamp clusters which resemble facial expressions of "mockery". When sat behind the wheel of a car, unexpectedly shocked by an incident committed by (say, one of these cars), the then stressed victim, is first presented with the image of these rear lamp clusters resembling the appearance of a mocking face. Now, combine that mocking face image, along with the primal instinct of an individual who has just been physiologically distressed, and you then have a situation where the consequence is very understandable. Now, take a vehicle whereby the rear lamp cluster resembles a plain, subdued, calming face (say, Vauxhall Astra mk III hatchback (1991-1998)), and said incidents, do not trigger the same primal physiological reaction, that the other vehicles did. The same principle, could of course apply to the _front_ of vehicles as well in relevant circumstances. In addition to this, aspects such as the coarseness and proximity of the running engine to the vehicle operator, further exacerbate the likelihood of the ability of the driver, to sustain a composed (even subconscious) demeanour. In this respect, motorcyclists (particularly those on bikes such as Harley Davidsons), have the biggest obstacle to overcome in regards to remaining calm, and pedal cyclists, tend to have the best attitude on the roads, because of the absence of an engine altogether. One last aspect (which, again, Channel 5/psychologist didn't/wouldn't cover), is that of audible placating. Playing classical music on dedicated formats (MP3,CD,audio cassette etc.), maintain the calming of the nerves, as well as provide the driver the ability to mentally consider, other motorists' "side of the story", inhibiting the likelihood of provoking a negative reaction should an unpleasant scenario occur. It is *thinking* music, as opposed to the other extreme - heavy metal/rap music, which inhibits the ability of the brain to be able to cope, with distressing situations. There are also earlier, now "antiquated" vehicle technologies and mechanisms, which helped to ensure that drivers, weren't as likely to become insidiously comfortable inside a luxuriously opulent, soul consuming interior (and exterior). Often times, the older the vehicle, the less inconsiderate to the soul/spirit of the person operating it.
