I fell like loneliness is killing me

I’m 22 and I’m college. I tried a social experiment where I wanted to see how long it would take for someone to say hello to me rather than me to them. I didn’t speak for 5 days

The kind of lonely I'm talking about is when you feel you've got nothing left. Nothing and no one. Like you're drowning and no one will throw you a line.

I have few loyal friends. They are chip, penny, and napkin.

I'm lonely because I find most people shallow, superficial and fake....and I fear for myself when I'm around them rather than when I'm alone

The worse feeling when being lonely is being lonely in a crowd.

The problem is that you just cannot be with random people. They have to be the "right" people. Being with people that don't share your same vibes is worse than being alone!

I'm one of those people who've isolated for years and can brake down into tears thinking about my isolation.

27 years old and i have never had a friend that wasnt online or a relationship of any kind

I haven't had the best of luck in my social life when it came to making friends. My love life, on the other hand, is actually worse. The rejections I get every time made me develop mental health issues and suicidal thoughts. In this pandemic, things have taken a turn for the worst. And trends like social media and internet dating made me feel like I should've died years ago.

Nothing like knowing you have a 30-60% of dying early to cheer you up.

I no longer feel the pain of loneliness, for I am already dead on the inside.

I have isolated myself at 13 and now at 17 i only noticed it now. I have 1 friend but used to have many as a child. I used to be social af but now i can’t even go outside alone because i’m overstruck with fear. I find myself breaking down in my room but only at night because i can’t talk about my feelings. I suffer from anxiety, depression, drug addiction and i can’t remember the time where i used to have a normal sleeping pattern or where i actually ate more then just a cookie a day. I feel like life is falling from underneath my feet and like it is endless. I had 8 years of therapy and all different kinds but it only teached me that psychologists are frauds. I don’t think about suicide but I’m desperate for a way out of this. I guess the reason why i’m sharing this, is because i don’t have anyone else to talk to.

I love being alone, but I hate feeling lonely.

I have friends, family, and an incredible, lucky life, but I don’t even want to talk to anyone. I just feel like a numb blob, with no personality. I just feel panging anxiety and as if I’m going to mindlessly live life until one day I just die. It’s not bad some days if distracted. I just don’t remember what happiness feels like.

I feel alone, I feel down, and it ain't easy, and the fact that I have nobody to express my feelings to makes me feel even worse.

Being alone =/= Being lonely, it's important not to conflate the two. Being alone is just being by yourself, which as stated can be helpful to some people, especially introverts who 'recharge', as it were, by being alone. Being lonely is having a longing for company. You can feel lonely even around people if they aren't satisfying your needs, or as stated in the video, hindering them.

I’ve been dealing with loneliness for almost 9 years now. The Pandemic made it EVEN WORSE. Depression, and anxiety has gotten a good hold of me. And I feel like it’s not getting any better. I’m currently in therapy, and taking medication to manage my depression symptoms. It’s really a battle to stay right. I know I got this though!

With my generation's jokes about "loneliness" and "depression" You can never tell who really has a problem... It's funny for some people but for the ones who are actually depressed or lonely it is practically a death sentence. I dunno, I thought I'd point out why you shouldn't joke about stuff like that.

I feel like I'm going to die alone, always been alone since I was born

I'm at the point where I'm so lonely, depressed and sad, that I can't even get the tears out of my eyes. Not even when I'm alone😭 My daily routine is the same everyday. Wake up - go to work - get home from work - be in my room playing games or watching movies, until I go to bed - repeat. For everyday that goes by, I'm loosing the will to be alive😭

I'm lonely, but I don't know what to do about it because people are fake. They use you and then disappear when they no longer need you or when something or someone better comes along.

I am an introvert. I love to be alone in my home. I hate being around strangers and people for too long. But I need that one person..who will be there with me. Who will care. I am too loyal. And that loyality left me broken. But for that one person who I will propably never meet I'll do everything. But that will never happen. I'll remain alone and lonely. It hurts, but I accepted it. I'll survive.

I’ve been alone almost all my life, i have few family members around me but thats it. I sometimes like my time alone but at times it breaks my heart because i just want a connection with someone. Im not so lucky with people they always seem to leave right after they enter my life. So basically yeah.. guess i don’t have much time. I’ll probably die in my 40s at this point.

"Humans need above and beyond everything else, other humans to survive." You are not alone. Go out, you'll find someone there for you. This phase of loneliness will pass and you will come out stronger. Stay strong. I know it's the hardest thing to do, but be strong. Do not break down. - A lonely man.

I'm technically not alone, I work five days a week and see about my mom. Got an old friend that I keep in touch with every so often lol

I often do feel isolated. I over feed myself just to kill my emotions temporarily.

Is this why I cry ( not sobbing, just a couple tears ) whenever my friends act like I’m not there even if I’m standing behind them

I met a guy once, he was a bit of a wanderer type, you know, just sort of roams around to places by himself, has no real home, no family, he was alone. He barely spoke, but he was an incredibly smart and oddly sort of funny person. My uncle told me he comes around every few months, and he said his wife and kid were killed in a car accident and he shut himself off from the world. He just drives around the desert, alone. Forever. I dunno, it’s a true story and has a bit to do with this video so i thought i’d share it with the interweb. Coolio.

Don't know about others. But you gotta appreciate solitude. Think about the privacy and freedom you'll have. On the side note, there's the kind of solitude that you've gain and given. Whether you should thank them or yourself, it's your choice.

What’s worse is surrounding yourself with other people isn’t enough to slay loneliness. You must make a meaningful, 2 sided connection with other people. If your attempts fail then the outcome to your mental well-being get worse.

In high school, I developed a love for solitude. I've made a life out of not having a life. Now I realize I've let my love for being alone make a prisoner out of me.

Never had a girlfriend, never had any close friends and being so alone and having such a small world and dull life has been killing me for years. I'm in college but can never strike up a friendship with anyone. Nobody had ever told me I was cute or handsome, any friends I made at my last college never really wanted to hang out with me and I've always felt like any opportunity to expand my world with someone has been halted by some unseen force. I don't believe in God's will, I'm extremely jealous and spiteful of people my own age, I feel an uncontrollable rage to hurt people at times, I've felt like turning to a life of crime for financial support and thrill, and I don't think there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel anymore.

I love spending time in my bible and I feel more at home than going outside or anything outside of reading. Yet there are moments I’m very disconnected from here on earth a sometimes waves of loneliness.

I always try to find things to do at work (on the weekends) because I just don't want to go home, I'm just bored and lonely there.

I am lonely and sorta depressed but i will NEVER consider of thinking suicide, alcohol or smoke. Those issue won't solve at all. The only way i can do is to try keep positive and do what you do during your free time. I draw during free time and sometimes go to the park and think about my future, myself and what to improve.

I've been alone since 13 years old. I'm 29 now. It is hard when I got some problems, I got no one to talk to sometimes apart from my family who lives thousand miles away. I have depression, getting very fat & male pattern baldness (at very young age 23). Getting companionships are far from it now. I am losing myself slowly & I think I am getting crazy.

With social media being everything now I feel it’s easier and quicker to feel lonely, even in a room full of people it can feel like everyone around you is hollow. That’s what gets me down 😮

Loneliness has been killing me for sometime now. All my friends started drifting away during my last relationship of 7 years to the point all I had was her. Then we split up back in May and I have literally no one except my parents. To make things better, I was diagnosed with severe social anxiety so whenever I do muster up the courage to talk to someone new they just end up ghosting me because I have the charisma of a rock. I'm 25 and my body has began the process of shutting down. My brain is beyond self preservation mode
