Am 80 years of age.16/16.Found these so easy to remember with no hesitating at all.Perhaps in a roundabout way they so remind me of the wise proverbs from the bible🙏

Perfect score. It wasn't that difficult because most of the proverbs exist in Italian as well. Anyway, in Italian they are not simple sentences, they do sound much more musical, like singing a little song 🎵🎶

15/16 Oh I loved this quiz I have heard my mother speak out these proverbs so many times in out native language that always had me wondered Where'd she learns all this from and induced my curiousity to know more. 'Every cloud has a silver lining' is my favorite btw 😍

I am turning 46 on 14th June and I got 15 /16. Gift... Horse... Mouth.. after moving on to the next one I realized I read it log ago.. 😠😠😠 I am not happy with myself although English is not my first language but I thought I have enough knowledge being a presenter. 16/16 I've been hearing all of these old sayings all of my life. I grew up in the late 60's through early 70's. So this quiz was super easy! It was fun to take and a no brainer. I luv these quizzes.

I was born in Indianapolis and I was raised in Milwaukee. I used to hear my foster great grandmother and mother say these old adages. So I was taught these old sayings, in a household, from an early age that still hold true today. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

I run programs for homebound seniors and came across your quiz. Used it today and loved how well you have timed it between proverbs. Some quizzes I find are timed in only a few seconds and since I must read the question because some folks have vision problems, there just isn't enough time for a senior to think and then answer. Very frustrating!

Too many cooks spoil the broth. This was one of the first proverbs I learnt and I was 12 years old . I am going to turn 70 next July 2nd. I can clearly remember, holding back all these years. I love teaching and learning English

All 16, at the youthful age of 65. However, unlike others, I can't credit my parents/grandparents, as English is my third language. The adages in the quiz, though, are standard enough to have repeatedly encountered through the years of listening and reading.

Got all 16 correct but now wondering what the heck is the meaning of looking at a gift horse ? In the mouth?. Never thought of it before. I know the lesson behind all the others but what does looking at a horse’s mouth mean? Maybe farm people would explain to this city girl. Thanks

If this is meant to be a test on English proverbs, you should try to write them correctly. It's "All that glisters is not gold" - not "glitters". Go back to the original, rather than rely on common (incorrect) usage.

I scored 15 out of 16. Got the SLEEPING DOG proverb wrong. I have read another version of the proverb: BARKING DOG SELDOM BITES, where SELDOM is substituted with NEVER. Such online tests are very useful for refreshing one's memory and sharpening the language skills. Thank you very much for arranging this.

15. I missed the one on charity starts at home. I am very generous so I must have learned that and never knew the fact. My parents were very generous. Time, patience and money and a whole lot more. I was lucky to be their kid!

I’ve been taking a lot of these quizzes after my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and now in a memory care center 🥺 I’m 59 and trying to keep my mind sharp😉 Thanks for these☺️
