In the United States - Yes, you're LEGALLY allowed to fly your drone at night both as a Recreational and Commercial Drone Pilot, and you WILL need Anti-Collision Lights on your drone!

Before April 2021, you would have had to obtain an FAA Daylight Operations Waiver, which despite its name would let you fly at night. The process for getting one of these waivers was super time-consuming since you needed to request one through the FAA’s DroneZone Portal.
Well, I’m happy to say that things have changed, and flying at night is now easier than ever IF you follow the steps laid out in this video...
Let’s talk about what you NEED to know before flying your drone at night, and the rules you’ll have to follow to ensure a safe and successful flight.
As you know, to fly drones commercially (meaning to make money flying drones), you WILL need what's called a Remote Pilot Certificate. To operate a vehicle you need a DRIVER'S licensee, and to operate a drone you need a DRONE license - it's the same concept.
Once you're certified, you'll be able to request authorization to fly in controlled airspace. You know how sometimes when you go out to fly, and the DJI App shows you that pop-up notification that says you're in "controlled airspace"? Well, you'll now be able to get immediate airspace authorization (in some areas) that will allow you to fly for a client and actually get PAID for your drone work. Pretty cool, right?!
