suggestion- title would be more accurate to say this is one-hit wonders of this century or recent one-hit wonders. To say that you didn't really find older one-hit wonders means you didn't really look or just completely ignored the 80's 😄
The Proclaimers would walk 500 miles and Vanessa Carlton would go 1,000 miles. Maybe they should meet somewhere in the middle and they wouldn’t have to go so far.
They literally don't say what it was until someone guesses it. So you're also racing against an opponent. All of the participants. You gotta guess it before they do. In the first round they actually edited izzy's answer much later because she had been so fast and they didn't want to give it away immediately
I have been having a really bad day thinking about my cat Coco who just passed. Nick somehow always manages to put a smile on my face and his laugh makes me laugh. so thanks
There's a video with cats that he's in. Don't know if that would make you sadder or not. He pays so much attention to the shyest kitten because he feels bad for it. It's so cute and sweet.
😱 The Veronicas are not one hit wonders ..... in Australia. 🤭 They are still making albums/radio singles. I've been cheering on those girls now for 19 years. 💖
They are, in fact. Untouched made the Top 20, but the only other single to chart was Take Me On The Floor, which peaked at #81. Generally, you need at least two songs to chart in the Top 10, or in the Top 40 on their own merit (i.e., a song riding off the coattails of a previous hit to chart in the Top 40) to avoid getting this label.
@@empass2996 And this is a US-based channel. If we had to ensure that these acts were one hit wonders on every single chart around the world, there would be no video to make. The Veronicas were a one-hit wonder in the US. Heck, one of the biggest boy bands in the UK - Take That - is a one-hit wonder in the US!
The fact that Untouched by the Veronicas is in here is disrespectful imo. They have quite a few hits and Untouched just happens to be one of their bigger ones. 😂
I'm convinced they do things like that to drive engagement. It's such as easy way to get people talking in the comments. Or they just pulled it from a bad list of one-hit wonders. There are definitely some lists that include Untouched as one.
As an Australian I really must protest the idea of The Veronicas being one hit wonders when their debut album hit #2 here with three top 10 singles 2 years before Untouched was released. 😉🇦🇺
Kiwi here and I agree. As soon as I knew it was the veronicas I said no way are they one hit wonders. At least 3 of their songs maybe more were everywhere in my latter years of high school and even last year I had the radio on which I never do and one of their songs came on (and it wasnt untouched).
The Veronicas being on this list as one hit wonders is crazyyyy bro. They also had 4ever and On Your Side and multiple others like come on now lol Like literally their entire The Secret Life Of album is a banger.
It's not crazy, though. They're not well-known in the US and Canada. I only know one song and I haven't heard it in ages. I don't remember ever really hearing it on the radio, actually.
The lead singer from Wheatus is such a real one. I saw him perform live way after the hype, at a bar in Ramsgate UK. His sister was the support act and we were both just chilling with a beer watching her perform. You never would’ve guessed he was worldwide famous for a minute there.
Been seeing a lot of comments saying D4L wasn't a One Hit Wonder. They had 2 singles Laffy Taffy and Betcha Can't do it like me. Laffy Taffy hit number 1 Betcha peaked at 72. That is the definition of a One Hit Wonder. There are One Hit Wonders who had multiple singles hit the top 10 and are still considered One Hit Wonders.
I think we need to remember what “one hit wonder” means in a non-literal sense. It doesn’t mean the artist only had “one song”. It means they only had one (or even two or three) songs that charted top 40 and were played on the radio, typically in the country of context which is the U.S. I absolutely BOPPED to the metro station album and to the Veronicas first couple albums (and their most recent ones) but they are still one hit wonders bc only one of their songs really went mainstream
A lot of these one hit wonders though are either foreign to the U.S. and have had more success in their own countries (such as Daniel Powter and Magic! being Canadian and the Veronicas being Australian) or voluntarily stopped doing as much music and didn't try to go big again (such as Gotye).
@@jennifergreen6510 Not really the correct way to define one hit wonders but then again... America world series and all that. Other countries don't exist. ;p
@@TconlThe World Series was named that after a newspaper. BTW, Canada has a team in the MLB so it's not just the US that participates. If an artist has only one song that is known to most people in a country, they are a one-hit wonder. It's not hard to understand.
This was the BEST duos to watch. you all meshed so well! especially nick and payton. nick is such an antagonizer and payton played into jt well! bravo 👏👏
Two Aussie artists in this list are One hit wonders for you guys huh. Gotye (also a one hit wonder in Aus, He was an Indi artist). The Veronicas are somewhat more common in Australian Entertainment though.
Fun fact about Kevin Rudolf is that he has commented on almost every post of someone singing let it rock on tik tok (including my cover post on my tik tok)
Here are some one-hit wonders from the 1950s: Rocket 88: By Jackie Brenston & His Delta Cats, released in 1951 Sh-Boom: By The Chords, released in 1954 Let Me Go, Lover!: By Joan Weber Earth Angel: By The Penguins, released in 1955, this song was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 from November 1954 to 1955 (My Baby Don't Love Me) No More: By DeJohn Sisters, released in 1955 Pledging My Love: By Johnny Ace, released in 1955 The Man in The Raincoat: By Priscilla Wright, released in 1955 I Want You to Be My Baby: By Lillian Briggs, released in 1955 At My Front Door (Crazy Little Mamma): By The El Dorados, released in 1955 Daddy-O: By Bonnie Lou, released in 1955
I think they're going by the US charts, in which case the Veronicas were one-hit wonders (their only other song to make it to the Hot 100 was "Take Me to the Floor," and it only charted at #81). Corinne's a weird inclusion, though. "Like a Star" actually charted higher on the Hot 100 than "Put Your Records On," but neither song cracked the top 40. So by some definitions, she didn't have any hits in the US. Still, PYRO is easily her most recognizable song.
@@andresgc770 okay, I thought Leave Me Alone was on the charts too but corinne Bailey Rae's Like A Star charted in top 10 before Put Your Records On. I don't know if Breathless did, but I LOVED that song!
Could be great songs, but they weren't chart toppers. Look at Aerosmith for God's sake, technically a one hit wonder, their only #1 single "I don't want to miss a thing" from Armageddon & think we can all agree they've had a hell of a career
The other Izzy and I agree. Lol. Not that I don't like this Izzy, I just like that pairing better. Honestly, I like When Nick and Jayse are paired, but I know they wouldn't be for this type of video.
I was going to say that buut ii remembered that most of the reactor's dont even know Kylie Minogue so I would be surprised if they knew who the veronicas were
Wait is Vanessa Carlton really a one hit wonder? I listened to her White Houses and Ordinary Day for days I still have her songs on my phone to this day.
After the producer asked Nick for a one hit wonder from the 50's, I looked some up, and found Earth Angel by The Penguins. This song probably became more well known in the 80's from the movie Back to the Future. I'm curious if the reactors would recognize this song, especially if the original was being played for them.
OMG When Bita called Pat MFin' Benatar, 8 time platinum, 4 time grammy winner, rock and roll hall of fame inductee, yes THAT Pat Benatar, a One Hit Wonder?!
I got every single song but you guys make me feel old because I graduated high school in 2001 and they're talking about how they were little kids running around or they were in Middle School LOL
