I totally agree with what everything you mentioned in your video. Every applicant who places their name into the process to become a Police Officer. From the youngest applicate to the oldest who applies needs to really be asked those hard questions. I believe It’s really a mindset with this occupation with any type of high stress job. Going into this job I believe that the officer must have an extreme strong support system going in and maintaining their craft. Going from high stress call to another will place a strain on the officer. The switch is real with turning it on and off. How do you wind down from a high stressful day.

Great question! Jack Daniels.... lol JK (kinda), but I typically just like coming home to family and playing with my daughter helps me put all the BS aside. I used to crank the music and go on runs a lot after work before we had our daughter. It's also helpful to talk to someone about the things you dealt with, and I usually do this with my wife, leaving out gritty details. Oh and a punching bag helps too.

He brings up many topics that are true and pertinent to police work. Forget all of the television shows and movies that show police officers as super heroes and super villains. We are just men and women who are trying to make life in our communities safer and more responsible to our citizens. The points that he brings up are the same things that we, as police officers, have had to deal with over the years. Even when I was an active officer in the 1970-1980's. These are the same issues today as they were back then. We just didn't have "social media" to spread falsehoods and untruths about the situations that we have to deal with on a daily basis. And, Yes, it can be very stressful and dangerous. However, it is also a very rewarding and satisfying career. But, unfortunately, the people that vilify us and accuse us of police brutality are the vary same ones who have no idea what "The Job" entails. They never go on a "ride along" with patrol officers. They never see the depths of human depravity that we witness on a daily basis. They would never consider pinning on the badge and taking the oath that we all did. But, they are the ones who are the first to raise their voices in anger and outrage. Often without even looking at ALL of the EVIDENCE, before they make their accusations and and judgements.

@sinequanon5586
@sinequanon5586 7 месяцев назад
In my opinion nobody, and I do mean NOBODY, has "what it takes" to be a police officer. The toll on the human mind is not just stressful but stressful to the point of PTSD in EVERY case. Cops are required to roll around in the mud with society's dregs, both literally and figuratively, and I don't believe ANYONE is capable of dealing with that amount of stress for more than a few years before they start to crack. It is a recipe for disaster to even ask them to do so. There is no amount of training, camaraderie, macho denial, drugs or alcohol that can stave off the deleterious effects that this kind of work imposes on the human psyche. The policing system in use today is bad not only for police officers themselves, but for the rest of society as well. A cop who has seen enough, done enough and had enough is a truly dangerous specimen; every bit as dangerous as the people they're supposed to be protecting us from. We've seen it happen over and over and over. It's a real thing. Police officers routinely commit suicide in numbers that exceed on-duty fatalities from ALL causes, not just being killed by a perp, but traffic accidents and heart attacks, etc. "Officer safety" apparently does not include safety from their #1 killer - themselves. This is NOT the desired effect. It is a known fact that people with psychopathic tendencies are represented in police work more than the general population. Psychopaths have certain attributes that can make them "good" cops, but those same attributes can also make them "bad" cops. As new recruits dwindle, the only candidates left are increasingly psychopathic. This psychopathy is present not only in the so-called "beat cops", but also in the command structure. It is dangerous and unhealthy system that simply cannot be sustained in a "free society". It's seriously broken and it needs to be seriously fixed. Making a few changes here and there is not going to do it. America's policing system must be torn down entirely and reinvented from the bottom up.
