I can tell you, as a thrifter, there is a lot of Talbots in thrift stores. That says that the clothes from Talbots last a long time and are durable. I have sweaters and nice shorts too.❤❤❤

I have recently picked up a few Talbot pieces at 2nd hand stores. So happy when I see their label there and can find it at an affordable price for my budget. Definitely will be getting more of their clothing.

Absolutely. Until I got too big for a few skirts and pants I had a d will never get that thin again. I had the items and wore frequently for 10 + years, dry clean only and they looked new when I donated them.

Ducked out of Talbott years ago when their real life stores would be themed in all one color, last I recall it was camel, camel plaids, camel plains, jackets sweaters etc. So I just never went back. Then they got pulled from our malls. Knew they were pricey and quality. But I'm not a constant mall walker to wait for theme stores to change.

I’ve a silk twill shirt that I bought at Talbots 20 years ago. It still looks great! Unfortunately, they are inconsistent with their sizing and don’t use much of the high end fabrics anymore. But I did like your picks.

Beautiful pieces and you looked stunning in them. Love how the dresses go below the knee. If I was still working, I would definitely check out Talbots again. Don’t forget to remove the cross-stitch on the back of the blazer. I think a lot of people complained last winter about stores not having corduroy pants, so they had no choice but to step up the request for them (lol).

My absolute favorite clothing store. It has been since the early 80s. They went thru a period several years ago when it looked like they changed to be more with the times and I was so disappointed but then they went back to their classics. Bc of the cost I usually buy during sales which are often. You looked beautiful in all the clothes!!

Back in my working days, I shopped a lot at Talbots. I appreciated their quality fabrics and construction. And I really appreciated they even had a separate shop exclusively for petites!

I like Talbots because they do not dumb down their plus sizes - they offer the same items in plus as they do in misses. I mostly buy blazers and sweaters - loving all of their Chanel-esque looks this fall. I've witnessed sold out items in my size sometimes reappear on their website - I don't think it is restocking - I think it is if someone has returned that item and it is back in inventory. And I have had a store associate give me a list of stores with a 'sold out' online item when shopping in person - it was up to me if I wanted to call and have it shipped (short story - I didn't follow through but good to know).

They are amazing with finding items at other stores. I needed one particular blouse in a 3x and the associate found the last two unsold. She put me on the phone with a nice young man at a Texas store who sent it to me right away.

I’m so glad you liked Talbot’s Oralia! I was afraid I would have disagree if you didn’t 🤣. To me Talbot’s is synonymous with quiet luxury. I am out of plus sizes now but appreciate that you also try on sizes in XXL so I still find things fitting me in a little smaller size. Have you hauled Banana Republic factory? I bought a beautiful tweed blazer there more reasonable but great quality. Maroon looks great on you And that dress was chef’s kiss🤗

Clothing from Talbot’s has been one of my favorites since college. However as the years have gone by there seems to be almost no women’s clothing made in the USA. (Remember the ILGWU advertising jingle, “Look For the Union Label”…..?) I have a few pieces left from the 80’s that my daughter now wears and that were IMPECCABLY sewn.

A friend of my sister's just gifted me 20 pairs of pants she was about to donate. Five pairs of jeans, about 10 pairs of corduroys, and the rest chinos. Some of them were from Talbots. I feel like I hit the lottery, because not only did they fit, but the length was correct. I usually have to cut 2 inches off the pants I buy.

@@Oralia_Martinez here in Canada the stores like Costco sell “ merino wool” but it’s RECYCLED Merino wool, so it’s just as scratchy and shapeless as other recycled woollens. Real virgin merino wool is expensive but soft. The fibres are some of the longest of wool fibres, which is why it is so soft and durable.

I love Talbots ,and I am petite also. The only thing I would say is check their sweaters before you buy them. I bought one last year online for Christmas .I didn’t like the material it felt like acrylic. I bought a beautiful burgundy sweater just this week that was soft and beautiful.

I'm a similar size to you and I never look good in blazers. Also, I find that this works well - fitted tops over fuller bottoms, and vice versa. The merino wool dress is gorgeous! I agree with that sometimes you need to go up a size so clothes pieces fit better. I don't look good in to tight clothes, so I make sure to get clothes that fit well and makes me look good.

When I was in my twenties I thought that Talbots clothes were so well made and so beautiful. But so fuddy duddy. I thought that when I get old these clothes will be perfect. No that I’m old and ready, I was so disappointed to find that the clothes weren’t addressing mature women anymore, and the quality just wasn’t like it used to be.😢

Thanks for sharing! I sell new and used clothing, accessories and home decor on Poshmark and have a lot of Talbots pieces in my shop. They're beautifully made with high-quality materials but they don't sell very well and I can't figure out why. I think they're classic styles and great for anyone who wears 1990s vintage (I'm 62 and have worn this brand for over 30 years.)

This was very interesting-I love quality above all, and Talbots always brings it to the table. I have a few shirts/tunics bought at thrift stores. I am going to pry open my purse strings and actually go to the store to get some pants and jeans, and maybe a jacket. I don’t see those at thrift stores that often.

I have shopped at Talbots for quite some time. I think they have the best clothes for a mature conservative classic dresser. I own numerous pairs of Talbots T pants. I have had them for years. They are perfect… I travel in them and use them for church clothing. They are just great with exchanges. I understand that this is for plus clothing but there clothes are perfect in a small misses size.

Your Talbots picks look very nice on you. My closet is primarily Talbots only because over the past 3 years,, I signed up for emails, took advantage of flash sales and end of season clearance and got their cc for reward points. They also give birthday and anniversary incentives on top of any sales. I payoff my balances asap however. After covid, I did see an increase in unnatural fibers, less wool, and thinner shirts and tops. I still like their classic asthetic. I haven't been able to get into Chicos however.

Ordered the merino wool sweater dress in maroon. The color is beautiful. It is a gorgeous piece. The weight of it is perfect, feels like silk. Tried it on…and discovered that I am allergic to wool! Broke out in hives on my face and back. Made me sad because this dress is a keeper, it fits and flows like a dream.

I used to love Talbots, but I so want to ask them what they have against v-necks. LOL. I do not like crew or turtlenecks and it seems like 95% of their stuff is one of those. I'd even take a deeper scoop neck, but everything I look at is up above the collarbone.

I love Talbots! I know I can order a size and it fits me. With ordering online, you don't know what you will get and I do not return. Too much trouble to pack it back up, print a label etc. I saw that first sweater dress in the catalogue and went gaga for it. I'm glad I saw it on you. Every catalogue, I ooh and aah pieces. I can go to the store and try them on. Many times the outfit doesn't work for me. I know that whether I order online or in store, the item will fit me. Certain pants styles are tighter cut and do not fit me, but others that size do usually.

Hi, I find that if I wash knits (even pj’s) with cold water on the delicate cycle, dry them in the dryer until most wrinkles come out but they are still quite damp and hang to dry they stay the same size. Sometimes, you can wet the item and stretch it back out while wet. It’s worth trying!

I wish Everlane was size inclusive. Their styles are much more “me” than Talbots. Universal Standard is about the only place I can find edgier quality pieces in my size at a medium price range. I need to go watch your Banana Republic video. Even though our style aesthetics are very different, I find your videos very helpful.

I bought a beautiful tweed wool blazer,a Talbot, fits great. $20 used at postmark. I buy good quality, inexpensive blazers at postmark. I wear on travel.cant wear in az,too hot!

I agree with you 100%. I shop at tablets all the time they are pricey but they have good clearance sales and they have good coupons right now. Everything is 25% off your order so it was 30% and if you sign up for the email you get a percentage off and they have reward points for a tablet’s credit card. I love tablet well hope try on hot pink coat .❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It depends. Much of my TLB is from 2016 or earlier. I have a lot of natural fibers and they look polished and expensive.

Have you tried fishnets? I really love how they look and you can find them in a "natural" tone on Amazon. You could also use something like a tanning lotion - Jergen's makes a good one. It's not a self tanner, it's just lotion that develops just a little bit. 😉

I shop at Talbots with a discerning eye. Quality and fabric selection is not quite the same as pre-pandemic. I’m also not into crew neck/turtle neck tops/sweaters. My older purchases are still going strong. 😊

As a tall-ish formally athletic post menopausal person, Talbots fit model works. It’s the only retailer I can buy without trying on first. That being said you have to be picky. No print Ts or sweaters, no glitter or beads. Stick to solids and classics.
