Anybody remember playing NHL 99 and whenever you loaded up a game, they’re being an announcement “welcome to the Nasseu Coliseum in New York” (or wherever) “where EA Sports presents” then list to two teams? Because I played that game so often that I memorized all the arena names (at the time).
I did the same in NHL '06, but they couldn't get the rights for every arena, so I remember names like the Wachovia Centre in Philly and the Gaylord Entertainment Centre in Nashville, but not Boston's arena, since the commentary just said "We're here in Boston, Massachusetts."
I got 13. The St. Louis Blues one I have never heard in my life and I've watched Blues games at home this season. I already forgot the name in typing this.
It’s hard as hell for me not to think of that building as Kiel Centre. I attended a Blues game when it was called Scottrade and didn’t realise they’d changed the bloody name again!
Got 27. Mixed up Rogers Arena and Place, wasn't aware of the change to Amerant Bank Arena, forgot about the change to Canadian Life Centre and inexplicably forgot Bridgestone Arena even though I was just there last month! >< Of course I am trying to go to all of the NHL arenas, so I had better know the names.
I have a challenge for Jesse Blake: Name all 32 present-day NHL arenas by the names when they were first built. So for the Leafs, it would be the Air Canada Centre. I will accept 20 out of 32 as the minimum passing grade.
I did the same excercise independently and only got 9 right. There were several ones where I remembered the old arena names (ie Pepsi Center, Joe Louis Arena) but couldn't remember latest ones. So don't feel bad boys. Like you said, it's not that important trivia at the end of the day.
I got 22 but Im a nerd for trivia I definitely got colorado wrong my head was like pepsi center then looked and saw ball and when steve said excel center first Im screaming at my phone no thats Minnie
PNC Arena’s previous name was RBC Centre when RBC bank (the US division of the Royal Bank of Canada) leased the naming rights and got the current name when PNC took over the assets of RBC Bank.
I only know them bc i looked these up a while ago bc i was watching a panthers game and they announced "from amerant bank arena at the beginning" and i was like ??? isn't it called FLA Live Arena?????? Not sure how I would have done bc you had the answer up on screen buT i feel like i definitely wouldn't have gotten more than 10 - sO i'll take my steve forehead kiss pls :)
