This Bassett triple dresser was structurally sound, but needed some updating. It had a laminate top that wasn’t in the best of shape, so I decided to paint the body and try to re-stain the drawers. I used Bin Shellac primer for good adhesion since I was painting over laminate. The key to painting laminate is a clean surface, a good scuff sand and the right primer. I did two coats with a light sand in between before I moved on to painting.
I used Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel paint in Tricorn Black. This is a fabulous paint for furniture. It is self leveling and needs no topcoat.
For the drawers, I stripped them and re-stained them and sealed them with Osmo’s poly hard wax oil.
