I don't use them pretty stupid idea a metal rack can be damaged if the microwave last long enough to get problems

Bit weird to me, in the UK most manufacturers recommend you put a spoon in liquids when using the microwave as it stops super-heating liquid :S

@@monicas2269 Certainly it's on the Bosch, Neff and Siemens though I'm not sure they put the sticker on anymore, the idea is the metal breaks the meniscus of the water so you don't have a contained heat in the centre of the liquid, metal spoons are generally fine is only thin metal like foil that causes sparks.

@@Delogros You learn something everyday. I always stir mine halfway through heating anyway rather than heat for too long at once.

@@monicas2269 That works as well :) Did you also know liquids are the only thing you are meant to heat on full power in a microwave? not that it matters everyone (including me) just whacks it on full power for everything except defrosting.

@@Delogros I do use different levels quite often. It's usually prepared meals that my Son buys that say to put on full power, stir, then on again. I very rarely defrost things, I tend to take things out of my freezer the evening before I need them.
