Clearly the Bodacious with Shaman like contoured scales would be very interesting, but the Benchmade like pricing is really something hard to swallow.

Instead of swapping scales, is it possible to swap the blades, thus keeping the liners that go with the scales?

I'll wait for the $400 release of the Spyderco BhodiShaman with custom black G10 and S30V! 🎉 It'll make a great addition to the other 6 Spydercos I have that are all +/- 10% different from each other. 😅

I have a lot of Spyderco knives and the only thing I don’t like about almost all of them is the G10 scales. For my large hand. I don’t like the thinness of them and sharp boxy sharp edges around them. I would prefer the Shaman style scales on all my Spyderco knives for a more natural contour and comfort. Also the G10’s scales texture feel like a metal file or semi course sand paper to me. I would love to shaman style scales available for pretty much all my knives with G1- ones.

The answer is why not 😂 but in all seriousness once the aftermarket makes rounded scales for it i might get one. If the grip is even 1/2 as good as the Caribbean I’d be happy. The Caribbean is so freaking comfortable in hand

Shaman scales look great on the bodacious.. as far as the front choil, nothing a Dremel wouldn't fix

be careful with the dremel to round the choil because it may be the stop point (on the stop pin) of the blade in the closed position

i know i know, dont buy clones.. BUT, you can actually buy a cloned shaman with surprisingly good micarta scales for like 30 bucks :O throw away the rest, put the scales here and it might just be a decent mix ;)

Spyderco did the wrong thing by not putting the choil in line with the pivot. They did the wrong thing again by not having a choil.

Nah I'm actually really happy this one doesn't have the choil. It's not necessary at all on a knife this size but if you still want to choke up you can get your finger right underneath the blade on the handle the way it's designed. I also think the choil area on most spydercos is insanely ugly, so glad to see it's gone on this model for a change.

You should be able to get right behind the edge so you shouldn’t need the choil unless you do a lot of pinch grip style cutting. I do wish I had more cutting edge rather than grip space since the handles are usually big enough already. The choil makes sense on the para3 and smaller but larger it’s not really necessary.

@shepherd2148 The choil isn't ugly, but because of how it was designed on the Shaman, it took up blade space. All they had to do was make the choil part of the handle.

@phil2082 the choil on the shaman isn't the worst example but there are plenty of Spydercos where it looks absolutely awful and if a choil was added on this knife it would just be the shaman without contouring scales.
