Former Jehovah's Witness elder/bethelite is discussing his own personal experience about what he knows about the practices and policies of the Watchtower, Bible & Tract Society.
This video discusses issues pertaining to how to rescue your family from the Jehovah's Witnesses. When most people wake up and realize the real truth about the religion, they want to tell everyone. Because Jehovah's Witnesses have been trained to shut down when others speak negatively about the Watchtower, Bible, & Tract Society aka JW.ORG, you have to take a different approach when dealing with your loved ones.
When individuals are learning about becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses, they do not learn about the religion all in one day. It is exactly the same when you leave the organization. You have to come to certain realizations and for many, it is difficult to accept what they have come to appreciate as being a teaching from God.
When speaking with your family or friends, it is important that you ask the right questions. Simply telling a Jehovah's Witness about the Watchtower Society's affiliation with the United Nations or providing them with information about the Australian Royal Commission is not enough.
Every Jehovah's Witness at some point in time have questions in the back of their mind as to the validity of certain Watchtower teachings. However, it is the goal of the Watchtower Society to keep their members busy and this will keep them from waking up to the realization about the fallacy of the teachings,
We have come to appreciate that most people leave the religion when they are personally affected by something that takes place at the Kingdom Hall. It's as if until they meet with what we term the cold hand of steel, they wholeheartedly believe that the Watchtower Society speaks for God.
The culture of the Jehovah's Witnesses is to keep all conversations positive where they do not talk negatively about the organization. Otherwise, it would not take long for them to collaborate and talk amongst themselves and come to the logical conclusion that when its all said and done, they are working for free for a book publishing corporation.
This podcast encourages you to take your time when trying to introduce your family and friends about what you have come to discover about the organization. We strongly encourage you to help yourself first. We use the analogy of when there is a need to put on an oxygen mask in case of an emergency, parents are instructed to put their mask on first prior to putting it on their child. Otherwise, you could pass out from a lack of oxygen and the small child would be unable to assist you. The same is true when leaving the Watchtower. You need to get yourself to safety before you go back to make an attempt to rescue your loved ones.

I came across many things that didn't make sense in the teachings of Jehovah's witnesses but I simply brushed it aside that the governing body knew better. But one question I couldn't get around. What evidence is there that Rutherford and his friends were chosen by holy spirit in 1919? It was a fallout from an attempt to get married that took me there. My boss is a Deacon in the church of penticost. He defends the indefensible until he run out of room. But he won't leave his beliefs. It is the same with witnesses. Even when evidence is slapping them in the face, the don't want to wake up.

So glad I happened upon this! I grew up in the so-called "truth" (as an elder's daughter) and I am the only one of my very large family that was brave enough to question the teachings and finally leave it 23 years ago. I forgive them for dissing me because it isn't in their hearts to do it, it is the brain-washing that instills fear in them. If they were really Christ-like, as they profess to be, they would have un-conditional love.

Just completely"woke up" in the last few months, after being df'ed for 21 years. I was POMI the whole time, suffered extreme anxiety and depression, always worried about Armageddon, feelings of doom and gloom....the list goes on and on. However now, thanks to you guys and a couple other ex-jdubs, I am fully awake and although I do have PTSD (no joke), I am happier than I've ever been, no longer do I have to judge myself or others and my relationship with God and Christ is better than ever! Thanks again, love you guys so much. 🙏💕

Also there will be a great tribulation "Matthew 24:29-31", which will lead to God's final War Armageddon "Revelation 16:14-16" to rid the earth of the wicked and of those who refuse to obey Him "Revelation 4:11, & Acts 5:29" 1 Thessalonians 6:1-9." Acts 4:12" says: Jehovah is the only means of Salvation, so I hope your Cosmetology license will at least try and save you!!!!!!! Of course that will never happen!

JT made a good point about how the witnesses are becoming tired. I've seen times when I'm out and about a group of publishers on their way out in field service and no one is smiling and they have a look like they'd rather be anywhere than going out in field service. It's quite depressing.

I was with a group Saturday and the brothers were making a joke (Laugh to keep from crying) about not having time to to sleep between workingF.s and studying. The other thing is that their bodies are breaking down (I got this ailment and that one) but they’re doing street work at 7A. SAD! I WISH THE KNEW TTATT!! Instead they’re “Slaving for Jehovah”

There may be hope for my JW friend as when I was talking on the phone with him catching up on the years he told me he is tired a lot of the time. He said after work before going home he likes to drive his car around just having a relaxing drive around before he drives home, If he was very strict as a JW I figure he would drive right home after work waste no time or gas. Hes not wasting gasoline that extra 5 to 10 bucks sped driving a half hour or hour is his greatest piece of mind time to himself to think about anything going on at home, Hes 33 and still lives at home with his strict JW parents who are ultra faithful JW followers.

Still watching the video and i gotta say this is amazing! I wish i had this information back in 2016 when i first woke up. I ended up “Word vomiting” to my mom (central figure in our family that everyone follows.) After talking About the ARC, false prophecies, my family started shunning me after their learning that i was now openly opposed and the elders announced i was no longer a JW. My immediate family is still in, I’m the only one out so I’m hoping my family comes out soon. Luckily i have my husband and other extended family i can turn to, but nothing hurts more than not being able to have a normal family relationship with your parents. It’s not easy losing your family to a cult, definitely don’t word vomit like i did!!! Great work Lady C & JT! Thank you both!!

Dream Reaper Exactly, it’s a tough pill to swallow that when you learn these things you can’t spill everything at once, it just causes more damage. The fact that I’m now disassociated (the elders did it without me writing a letter of disassociation, they said my conduct showed i no longer view myself a JW) i have no choice but to not speak to my family. Let’s hope they get out soon!

Hello dream Reaper, so is your mom still speaking to you? If so, then as was suggested in this video perhaps you could ask her if she has done any research concerning what Joseph Rutherford was teaching in 1919 and if (perhaps say "since" ) Jesus had assigned him and the elders working with him at the headquarters at that time the responsibility to "feed the sheep", then why doesn't the WT Org have his books and literature still available to read at their JW Org website? Why have they already discarded it as "old light" Does Jesus reward and approve of half truths and errors? Something to question

When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly." 1 Cor. 4:12-13 If your family has true faith from the heart growing in them God will open their eyes to the truth. In the meantime we can pray for them. Never give up on them, just as He never forsakes us!

Yup, when I “woke up” I wanted everybody who was in the .org to know. Wasn’t prepared for the backlash. And being called an “apostate”. Now I just allow them to believe with the hope they will respect my new way of life. And I pray someday they wake up themselves.

We all must rescue ourselves through critical thinking skills and hold accountable. I do feel sorry for all the families who are burdened by this cult. I also am sorry for other members of religions who are burdened by following false teachings. I'm glad to be out to the cult. I feel sorry for some friends who I had there who are still in it.

This reminds me of how when people first become Witnesses they rush to their families to tell them what they’re learning. Christmas being pagan, the condition of the dead, hellfire, etc and they are surprised after handing them a book or magazine that their relative doesn’t want to study or isn’t impressed. Remember, they would say at the meetings, there has to be a “readiness”. Well, I see that in Witness family members who just aren’t ready to hear the truth about the truth. I even mentioned the Australian Royal Commission, this was dismissed. Frustrating.

Thank you guys! I am going through this now, my mother has been a Jehovah Witness now for 40 years. I have determined I follow no "religion" KJV and a relationship with Jesus thats it for me. Pray for me as I already know I am being shunned. No answers to phone calls, its quite terrifying and completely against Gods teaching of no fear. TO me its just like ISLAM apostasy are killed...anytime you rule by fear RED FLAG. Anyway great advice.

This made me super emotional.😢 Ever since I was 15 I knew it wasn’t the truth. Honestly it makes me sad to admit but every time I see a Jehovah’s witness my stomach hurts because I just have so much resentment towards them. I know this feeling isn’t right because there are a lot of them that just don’t have the guts to leave so they just fiercely defend their beliefs regardless of their own doubts and others feelings. The best thing I could have done was leave and now I’ve been married 5 years to an amazing man who showed me that I can be happy outside of their organization and that I don’t have to feel like God does not love me because I left. My family is destroyed because of their ridiculous doctrine. All I want in life to finally feel complete is to have my mother leave and join me and the rest of my siblings and realize that she can be happy without being a part of them. You don’t know how many times I’ve cried just watching your videos and seeing that two other humans just like me can actually be rational and realize the same thing as I did and that I’m not crazy. Thank you so much for your videos. You have no idea how happy it’s made me!!!! Blessings to you both. I wish you nothing but the best in life.

I have been out for 17 years. I am 37 years old. It has come to my heart that I never dealt with the trauma I sustained in the faith. I shut it all away and got to the business of learning to be a human being and survive in the world. I find myself thinking more and more how abusive my entire childhood was, and I have been looking up these videos to find some commonality with others. I really appreciate you and other RU-vidrs. My younger sister was a JW and was criticized for not going out in field service during the time when my mother needed chemo treatments 30 miles away and she was the only one available to do so. My sister ignored them and did what she could do for our mother who died in 1986. I related this to a JW and she said that my sister was supposed to do her field service. I told her that she was wrong for her comment and that she did go out in field service on the weekends. They don't like for you to do things for non-JW family members, this I know for a fact. I was criticized for visiting my oldest brother who was in the hospital. I was discouraged from visiting my family and especially being around my younger sister. She was not disfellowshipped. Some of the JWs still visited her. I am not going to turn my back on family and I am glad that none of my family members are JWs.

Such a needful post! Thank you both for the care, concern and true love shown by those like you who reach back to try and awaken others! It is not the truth at all, it is a book publishing company that has appealed to our need to understand the world we are in so it is mind control, a psychological program that owns you! They carefully and deceptively mix in common sense answers to our questions swirled in with their dogmas that leads to unexplained depression, anger and anxiety! This leads to self- condemnation because you think it is you but the soul knows! It knows that there is something dead and dangerous that is heavy on the spirit in the wt/jw group! They weave in God's will and this places guilt and a feeling of helpfulness in the persons mind because it knows you are not free in anyway in that group and should you awaken and begin to question them you are considered weak, misled, under satan's control! No, I was under satan in the wt! It's a cult for sure! Thanks for reaching out to those who are searching for the door out! Respect! 💚💚💚

I just finished watching this video and boy was it refreshing. Throughly enjoyed the dialog between you an your wife JT. I found this message to be very power to anyone who has family in and they themself had never been. I remember the reactions I got from 4 of my family members. These are people that know me and loved me (noticed that love was past tense). No, they still love me :) but we do not discuss their religion. Again, I really enjoyed you sharing this part of your life and the personal stories. I would say it depends how long you fade for. If you do it gradually, you are giving yourself time to build a new life outside of Watchtower. That was what I did. I had realised for a long time that there was something seriously wrong with my beliefs, so when I stopped attending it was really not a problem. Certainly agree with you that we should encourage them to check out things themselves rather than bombarding them with lots of facts and figures.

OMG, this is so on point. Once i realized that Jehovah witness have answers for every question, i realized that I needed to ask questions that would spark their interest and to let them know that I was in search of the "truth" and by learning myself and what I want out of life. This has affected me for a lifetime with my grandparents,so I have realized that i needed the truth for myself and I did that.

I have been trying to wake up my family members that are still in the WT cult, but I too noticed that if you give them too much information they will dig their heels in even deeper than before (even after saying that they are open to criticism about the organization).

very helpful, I think I am mentally able to deal with life outside of watchtower, I wrote my DA letter in 2015 June when I found about the royal commission, and i will never support an org that treats members like that...it is discussing to me.

The passion you'all have to help your fellow man is beautiful. This is one of the best video episodes I have ever seen. It would be a crime for me not to share it-i have to. I have spent my entire life outside the watchtower control helping others, now I'm finally joining the ExJW activism community to do the same. After I learned the real gospel & who Jesus really is, my burying the experience of being a JW could no longer work for me. I prayed for 2-years asking God what I was supposed to do, to be a tool for him. Interesting, if God would've given me the answer then, I couldn't have done it-I just wasn't ready to be effective. Fantastic! You are so right about the way you came into the JWs is the same way that you'll come out, and by extension anyone else. I have already had a verbal argument with my mom on the phone but I'm going to let her worry and worry first, before I call her back. She said that I was ridiculous, and that I have left Jehovah. Nada. I pray to Jehovah every doggone day! I always pray that he will protect my spirituality. Your words are soothing and healing, thanks!

Excellent video. Using your mind and common sense is the best tool Jehovah could ever give us. Being a critical thinker not a companion thinker may just save your life. I was born/raised into the organization. Growing up my father was a elder and presiding overseer (old term) now it’s the elder coordinator, my mother was a regular pioneer. I too was a regular pioneer zealous with the truth gave assemble parts and service meeting parts....now that I’m woke and no longer in I don’t really talk to my parents...I want to save them but I know they will immediately say I am an apostate. I remember asking my mom a question in service when I was like 18 and immediately said that was apostate thinking... I was confused as to her response. It immediately shut the conversation down. That was over 15 years ago...I don’t remember the question I asked but I remember her reaction...looking back it was properly a thought provoking question that was beyond her doctrinated teaching and thinking. Since y’all have left do you still have a relationship with Jehovah and do you still search for him like sliver and gold...or has the lies broken your faith in God? I appreciate that you express your experiences and that your encourage people to do their own research?

Thank you 💗💗💗 My jw Mom told me my greatest gift is comedy, and it's time to use it because every time I talk to my Mom she is in distress. Worst of all, I had a dream my Mom died last night and I was crying and screaming so hard I lost my voice and no one would tell me what happened to my Mom. Thank you. Well said... When I was leaving the JW as a 19 year old . I had seen acouple young people around me commit suicide ....so I knew I had to keep myself together as I knew it was going to be very rough. I have been free 40years and from that person I have lived with no family and no connection to the friends I had as a young girl. I would not change a thing and I didn't waste time.

Great video. I drifted away in my early twenties in the early 1980's. I moved some distance from my family and we were never a close knit family. I found Jesus through prayer and finally reading the Bible for the purpose of feeling it in my heart, not thinking it in my head. Jesus does answer prayers. My mother is an active pioneer to this day and would always encourage me to come back. I just did not discuss it because I know what her response would be. Last summer during a brief visit, she asked why I had not come back, if it had just been too long. I told her that I disagree with some of the teachings beginning with the instructions not to question or to do research on your own. She disputed that as "old light" and we left it at that. She recently called me and said it is bothering her what I said and wanted to discuss it further. My response at the moment was that I felt that most of the teachings by the Society were "minutia". It does not matter. My example was with the Trinity. Regardless of anyone's position about the person-hood of God, do you really think He would be mad if we have trouble understanding the infinite? She asked me to think on the topics so that we can discuss later. I have compiled some potential questions with scriptures on requirements of salvation (faith vs works), the deity of Jesus including the "I am" versus in John and the use of Emmanuel even in the NWT. I have been praying fervently and researching as many questions as possible. I don't want to waste this opportunity to plant the "seed" for Jesus and help her and then the rest of my family. I ask for your prayers and suggestions. ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD, never for the glory of man.

Great video. And you're right, you can never leave the organization with dignity. The same thing happened to me, and I was never baptized. My study got stopped because I was taking "a step back", i.e. stopped answering questions at meetings was the main thing. On the evening I found out my study had been (abruptly) stopped I was publicly humiliated by the ministerial servant in question, in the presence of his family. I was labelled "a bad associate" then "one of the world" when I informed him that I would no longer be attending meetings. It was a horrible experience, one that I have never forgotten, but it did at least open up an escape route. That was 25 years ago this year, I have never seen the inside of a kingdom hall since and neither intend to. I didn't actually start to wake up until 9 years later when the child molestation scandal broke worldwide (BBC's Panorama- Suffer the Little Children in the UK). And once you learned all the other things (that took a few more years too) you can never unlearn them. Thanks for the video.

I concur, the first thing that I had to do was to was to think about my exit. Also by detoxing you must clean yourself or break free of the mental abuse that you received. Being one of Jehovah Witness you got to focus on losing you conditional friends, who are no more. It is impossible to rescue anybody if they're not ready. Being prepare is not the reason you leave, it is deeper than that. What has been been so beneficial. the first step are you sure, after that i read Raymond France Book. The most eye opening, still I needed more, your site ExJW Critical Thinker , Fifth , the cute little couple Keith & Shannon many more. I started listen to people who light had became Brighter as I have. I have self discover, Iam certain whether you leave or not. thank ya'll.

I still hope to have a relationship with my mom and sister one day but I have a wonderful and loving family of my own and we wil always be there for each other. Our freedom is the most precious gift we can give our selves. It will never be easy but it will always be worth it.

Renee Graves I don't know who told you this, but they are wrong. Again, you can separate if there is abuse going on of any kind. "1 Corinthians 7:11" is just to stipulate that she can at least leave and separate from him, for that matter, she won't be violated under that roof anymore! Eventually, with her gone, he'll cheat and then she can get her divorce. Remember the Bible is the holy sayings of the Almighty God Jehovah "Psalms 83:18" on matters, as I have shown from the scriptures; throughout the entire of "Leviticus" he stipulated his law covenant...

Some really good advice here. I made the mistake that JT mentions in that when I found out "the truth about the truth", I was very enthusiastic about telling my loved ones, and all that did was make them lock down even more in their JW beliefs. You can't make others think critically and reason, they have to want to do it for themselves, so now I take the position of just helping those within my family that are having doubts, and putting myself out there, and it's worked. Several of my younger relatives, cousins, nephews, etc. have reached out to me and have managed to wake up. As far as the older people, they've invested too much in to the JW lie to allow themselves to let go. It's very hard for someone who has sacrificed their entire lives to this cult to admit that they've been lied to all their lives, that every decision they've made has been based on falsehoods. It is a complete shattering of their existence to wake up, and nothing anyone can say or do will make them wake up, even if in the back of their minds, they know it's a lie. As JT said, there are some that will never leave the borg.
