What a great video!! Some people are way too serious, good work. The CNC in the background set it all off perfectly. Im a turner and want to texture a bowl rim and was planning to try this anyway. Im not going to die, its just wood. Ill do it with the lathe running as I want a rough finish for the texturing. Funnily enough Im not joking.

Idk... I have a Flex hammer drill. It has a 1 and 2 speed option but also has a turbo as well. I accidentally had it set to 2 with turbo on when starting to mix a 100 gallon tote of paint and pesticide mix. It sheered one of the paddles almost immediately as paint went flying everywhere. Idk how fast that spins but it's fast!

I see something interesting you’re trying to create canyons out of your wood for epoxy job this might be one of the better ways to do it. It creates a nice rough channel that you need for the canyon. Although it does seem you do need two hands on the drill to do the carving.

I don't think it's a stupid idea. It's about saving cost with all the gadgets and tools out there. All the tools out there is to facilitate and making it more efficient. But the money goes to those manufactures that creates a tool for 'every' single job. I think it's more about how to stabilize your hand and putting your driller vertical and stable. If we can do that, it's the same purpose as the router. at least that my opinion.

Actually this wouldn't be a bad idea, however you're not going to get the results free hand. But if someone could invent a universal attachment of a router/plunger that could hold the drill perfectly plum but then again it would just make more sense to buy a router. Routers are relatively cheap. The damn bits are what get expensive

Since I know nothing about woodworking, asking if you can use a router bit in a hand drill is a valid question. Since the answer seems to be no my question will now be, can you make a straight hole or long hole, if that makes sense) in wood without a router, and if so, how? Thank you. (is it a mortise... goes all the way through?)
@WesHamstra

Yes you can. Start by marking it out where you want the mortise. Drill out as much of the wood as you can then clean up the mortise with a chisel

That was "knot" a good idea. You could probably use the V-bit to countersink holes, if you didn't have a countersink bit. At a pinch. But it's probably not a good idea. What's an even worse idea is modifying your drill press to run at 20,000 rpm so you can use a router bit. No Wes, don't try it. I said it was a bad idea!

I hate the safety douches that have to chime in on every DIY RU-vid video . If your video has electrical, mechanical, or basically anything, people will die if they follow it. It's funny how they act like they actually care if anyone gets hurt. They don't care at all, they just want attention and maybe to feel somehow superior. It's kinda pathetic so just ignore them.

Here's a thought...start taking massive amounts of steroids until you get bulked up like "The Rock." Size ratio will increase on your hands, and decrease on the drill, thus making the drill easy to be held using your thumb and your index finger like using a Dremel wood carving tool.....just a thought.
