Hey, everyone! So, after I originally recorded the video, I realized that I got things backwards with the lid, so I re-recorded the audio to correct my mistake. However, it looks like I must've accidentally uploaded the video with the original audio. For the Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, whatever word (clear/rubber) is at the top left of the lid when you close it is the side that the lid is on. So, if "clear" is at the top left when you close the lid, it's on the clear stamp side. Sorry for the mistake!
I know this has been years already but I found your video truly helpful. I just purchased the mint and I experimented on cutting a square stamp in half so I can make two out of it. I have several cute rectangular stamp blanks. I use the ez mount as well as and it went really well. I enjoyed it so much! Thanks for the inspiration😊
Brilliant video. Thank you so much. I made my first stamp yesterday, I use the MISTI and therefore used EZ Mount (as I do with unmounted rubber stamps) to increase the stamp thickness. However I really did not want to stamp off so many times and decided to blot the stamp with a tissue AND also wipe it with a baby wipe until clean. This gave me perfect stamps from the first impression. I used a mint inker.
Hi Kristen, this is a very useful channel, thank you. Have you tried minting a stand using any other stamp sheet besides the silhouette ones? I have import them and it's getting quite expensive.
What sort of "limit" do you encounter when reapplying the adhesive, or is that not a factor? I counted at least six or seven times, and I'm sure there at others, off camera, that we don't see. If it does lose adhesion, it must be inconsequential. That is clever workaround. It's striking that all these centuries later, people still use, effectively, a printing press. Then, as now, it's used to create custom print jobs. The technology was a game-changer in its day, and now has become indispensable.
Keith - When you say adhesive, do you mean the cling foam? I'm still pretty new to using the EZ Mount Cling Foam, but I've never had a cling stamp (they have similar mounting materials) stop sticking. I'd imagine that the foam would stop clinging at some point if used regularly, especially if it gets fuzz on it or something like that, but it should last a good long while if it's kept clean.
I appreciate your videos and think your explanations and demonstrations are awesome! I have 2 questions/comments about using the Mint stamps in the Tim Holtz stamp platform. First- If someone doesn't have the EZ Static Cling Mounting Foam, what about putting something thick-n-squish-like below the paper to raise it up to meet the stamp that's temporarily adhered to the Clear Stamp side of the platform's lid? I have that platform and always use a "squish" stamp or that soft embossing mat underneath so that there's some gentle give below the paper and I get a better inked impression. (I'm still learning to love this stamp platform- mostly for the size and the removable lid, but in truth my little Misti is preferred for most projects). Secondly, what happens if you ink the Mint stamp with Black Staz-On and when it begins to fade, re-ink it with another brand of Black ink? Thanks again for sharing your great information.
Thank you, beoneofthemany! I haven't yet tried putting something under the paper to raise it, as opposed to using the mounting foam on the stamp to make it thicker, but I think this is a great idea and will definitely be trying it out. As for reinking a Mint stamp that was previously inked with Staz-On, I haven't done this specifically, but I have reinked stamps that had other brands of black ink and haven't had any problems. Some of the previous color of ink can be reactivated and show through, which is why I recommend sticking with similar ink colors when reinking, but otherwise I haven't noticed any strange reactions or anything like that. Hope this helps!
Holly Miller - Great suggestion. It didn't cross my mind to do this as I was testing, but as you mentioned it's definitely something to try to save ink and to prevent the blank area around the stamp from making an impression on the paper.
CleverSomeday - Hi, Kay! What I've been doing is removing the thin foam adhesive layer from the Mint stamp mounts and then placing the EZ Mount Stamp Cling Foam mounted stamps onto the Mint mount and pressing the lid in place. It's not as tight of a fit as it is for Mint stamps that are mounted regularly on the mounts, but the lid is still on there tightly enough that it doesn't come off if you move the mount around. I actually made a quick video that shows how I do it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-42z1r-s7cVg.html
Great video! Thank you for sharing! I can't help but notice that your using the platform wrong. For clear stamps the word "Clear" should be on the left and vise versa for rubber stamps. Just sayin.
Hi, Karen! Thanks for pointing that out. I actually realized after I originally recorded the audio that I did get things backwards with the lid, so I re-recorded the audio, but it looks I must've exported the video with the original audio. :/ RU-vid doesn't allow annotations anymore, so I'm going to add a note in the description area above.
The SAVVY CRAFTER - How do I store the stamps after using them? I remove the adhesive foam that's in the plastic stamp mounts that come with the stamp sheets, and I place the stamp with the foam backer into the mount and press the lid on. I actually made a video showing the process here : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-42z1r-s7cVg.html
Hi, chandra shekhar. The price varies depending on where you purchase the stamp sheets, but on Amazon the price range is currently between $4.99 for the xx-small stamp sheet set to $15.45 for the xx-large stamp sheet set. There's a link in the description area above.
