Tip of my hat to Latvia. You're here learning as you go and will only be better next year and the year after that. You can take inspiration from Germany's growth. Keep your foot on the gas.
buddy we did better last year, we had closer games like, in the quarter finals we lost to sweden but atleast it was a close 2-1 lose, this year we are getting smoked cause we have no teamwork
I think he got the elbow out, but how the ref saw that IDK :/ It was called boarding, and the contact came to the back of the Canadian player, it was a close call.
People seem to forget how much more strict the calls are in international play as opposed to watching NHL every night. If you're gonna finish a check against someone's back into the boards, they're calling that every time.
@@jeremyrafuse5330The calls are unfair towards teams like Latvia, Norway, Germany, Denmark etc etc. And that's the problem. Refs will always let to teams like Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and Czechia to play much more freely and won't penalize them as much as underdog teams.
Oh yeah? Your team is weak. See how weak it is, you clown? Team Canada needs refs to win against us. Just face it. If officiating was fair your team wouldn't have won this match at all.
@@red3here Keep on deluding yourself you clown. Canadian players didn't get penalized at all for misconduct. And Canada only then scored goals when they had power play, you clown and comedy piece and team Canada always were given powe play. Team Latvia never been given power play. If rules would have been applied fairly, team Latvia would have won this match.
Hilarious..Canada has won this 20 times while Sweden has won it twice. Levels is right. Hockey is Canada's game and the very best players have historically been Canadian.
@@wastedbread8036 Hurts as as Vancouver native to see the top 2 players produced here in decades go to our old arch rival, but it would be very cool to see them play together.
The truth is its hard to compete if it's not your nation's sport; Canada has hockey for all ages; has a high cost as barrier to entry, is a very physical sport, you need to have enough ice rinks, coaches, instructors, training and a good handle on skating just to be able to play the game. Every region in Canada has at least 1 skating rink (there are 8 in my area alone), so if you can imagine how this would pan out for anyone who plays hockey, they will naturally be better players even if they don't play as much. Canada has the infrastructure for hockey more than most nations around the world comparatively. I have no doubt this sport would be very competitive if it was the same globally.
They win by 3 or 4 goals and people say that Canada is washed, they run up the score and people say they’re classless. You really can’t win if you play for Canada.
Gotta run up the score in case it goes to Goal Differential in a tie break. You could see they didn't want to, but that's the nature of the beast when it come to international hockey
They’re grown ass men. You play your best till he end or there’s no point. So you got lit up by Canada. You got beat by the best so just learn from it and be happy you got ice time with players better than you. Props to Latvia for hanging in there for three periods.
being both a finn and canadian, the rematch for finland and canada is going to be great. Always an interesting game. As for this game, I think you need to remember that countries like canada, finland, sweden, and USA have teams that consist of players who are already playing at proffessional skill level, if not entry NHL level, even though they are young, they are already on a different planet.
@@wastedbread8036 I mean, I guess they could face each other in the semis or the gold medal game. Doesn't seem likely at this point, but you never know. Personally, I am more excited for a potential meeting vs. the Americans. It's always nuts when Canada and the USA meet in hockey, and unbelievably, in the last 20 years at the WJC, they've only met 4 times with gold on the line, and the Americans won every meeting (once in OT and once in a shootout...also 3 of the 4 tournaments in question were on Canadian home ice - Saskatoon, Montréal and Edmonton). So a little payback would be nice, especially given how good the American team is this year.
After the 2nd period was sat here for every highlight where Latvia hat the puck like “I wonder how they giveaway the puck this time for Canada to score” honestly though after that penalty on Canada was called back feel that caused Latvia to deflate they may not of won but they may of atleast gotten a goal could be wrong though just my thought
I agree. Goal differential matters in standings so playing hard and scoring, to a point, is important but no need for celebrations by the players and the horn has to go after 5 goals; we dont want to crush Latvia's spirit.
@@red3here If you have to ask, there's nothing I can say except the horn is essentially blasting out to celebrate a dirty beating. In the professional leagues, fine. These are kids who are not being paid. It would be like making fun of people who lose badly at the olympics.
It's Latvia guys chill We looked good against the Finns who are usually very respectable and can be a real threat. But they also got whacked today by the Germans. so.... The good news is the Sweeds only got 6 on Latvia.
@@user-nq4vs7ql2flol it just gives some insight What the hell happened to the Swiss today. The US ARE NOT that good. and usually the Swiss are a lot better then that. Also. really enjoyed the Germany Sweden game.
Canada stood no chance. Canada lost this match you braindead loser. What those braindead refs think doesn't matter. Rules is what matters and those refs will answer for their corrupt decisions.
What is with the video quality? Awful frame rate, everyone looks like they are doing the robot. There is no way that the 720p and 1080p resolutions are even close to being HD. Terrible recording.
If that call at the beginning was boarding (the penalty before the one they called back), then Celebrini should have been suspended for his hit on the Swiss player in their last game before the tournament. Freaking joke. Just cause he might be higher uf in the draft he doesn't get suspended...
