We need to make more co-ops, mutual aid centers, help the homeless, etc. We need to show the lumpenproletariats what we're really about instead of the media being their source.

Yes! We need to create dual power structures in order to help others get by, especially our civilization is on the brink of collapse. Take my words with a grain of salt, but the threat of nuclear war by Russia would incentivize us to help our communities quickly when our governments are failing us.

So the one thing that particularly bugs me is how the "skeptics" are saying, very loudly and condescendingly, that it's "our fault" for their position because of the "way we talk to them". And then "talk to us" in the same "perfect way to not be listened to". It's almost like there's people egging them/us on to entrench themselves/ourselves into factional language barriers on purpose for... dare I say... "unknown reasons" and definitely not to the"benefit of any particular person"

21:20 "when do we start making sure people don't end up homeless in a system that has no desire to help you out?" Well that's the problem right there, most people on the right do not want a system that is oriented around promoting the well being of the citizens. To them that's evil, that's anti-freedom, having obligations to society is anti-freedom according to them. Most conservatives believe this and try to pretend they don't b/c they know it sounds bad, the libertarians are at least honest, they know they want a system where it's every man for himself, the richest are the winners and losing means not surviving (hence why we call it social darwinism). - This is why it drives me nuts when socialists call themselves Libertarians. I don't care what that word is "supposed to mean" or what it means in other countries, in my country, my situation, libertarian means crazy a-hole who thinks taxation is theft, cp is fine and everything has to be monetized.

26:16 - ok, I'll bite. One thing I've been working on lately is participating in a group that's doing autonomously run political education, aimed at being accessible to the masses. They've got an introductory course that helps folks understand how capitalism works, that's run in three forms: the course in English, the same basic course in Spanish, and then a modified form aimed for high schoolers, which aims to be a bit easier and more fun to take in. Those who graduate that can take various other courses online, and we've recently spun off a group that's aiming to start an in-person campus for a full university program, including study abroad with another org in either Chiapas, Mexico, with the Zapatistas, or in Cuba. Pretty cool stuff. Others before me paved the way, and I'm helping to move it further along -- currently working on some stuff to increase technical literacy within the community, for example.

I'm Canadian and in the heart of an ultra conservative voting district in Ontario. So it's not just media I hear but neighbours. Some who bought into the hype of the rallies. So I went hunting for info.... The people who were collecting the money and organizing the protests were all (each and every one!) ultra right wing, political and supremacist groups who do these protests every few years. They are not in any way truckers or ordinary Canadians who are being hurt by the systems. In fact all the truckers orgs spoke against the rallies. All of them. And frankly it's stupifying that the Conservative Party is involved and they say repeatedly that they'd do nothing whatsoever to help Canadians get thru the pandemic, not keep their businesses or homes, Yet all you hear from the organizers of the rally is anti-Trudeau rhetoric when the Liberals have actually helped ordinary Canadians. The biggest tell was how often the Conservative Party spoke against the aid efforts, yet applied for each and every single program for themselves.

In ordinary situations, I'd agree that the govt should be less invasive and had it not been a pandemic, I'd be anti-mandate and screaming about overreach too. But this was a community need, And the alt was to let far too many people die. Mostly front line workers and health care staff. IMO the mandates were necessary. And they could have started some better strategies for the future ie work from home and building revamps so air quality and circulation were improved. Web connections could have been improved and costs reduced for them. They could have worked on improving local trade systems so people were fed no matter what was happening in the world. But as soon as they could they were trying to romanticize what we had in 2019 and earlier. John Hopkins had tried to educate media and govts after 2003 when SARS 1 came thru Canada. But media and govt didn't follow their playbook. And we were caught with our pants down. That's why the mandates were necessary.

Great talk, we should have this played out in public on TV. I liked particularly the call to action at the end. Hope your personal life goes okay. It seems like many of us are going through a rough time now, myself included. "Anti-mandate, pro-vaccine and pro-education". I agree, but I really don't see how anarchism would be against mandates. It is doesn't have to be decided in a top-down way or by the state, but as a community, or as a confederation of workers councils, we can collectively decide to require individuals to follow a set of rules, in this case for certain professions to have vaccines; just like we would require a semi-truck driver to complete a commercial road test, or for a doctor to complete medical training. It is simply that these rules should be decided in a non-hierarchical and democratic way, by the proletariat, and not the capitalists or the state. In the case of vaccines, a nurse can spread covid to many different people, as can a truck driver crossing international borders, and... we want them to be safe and healthy, and they are particularly vulnerable. Yes, covid vaccines are not quite as effective now with omicron, but hopefully vaccines will be developed that target omicron specifically.

The 3 vac cines available in the USA have been injected into over 160 million people. Your chances of getting an adverse reaction from the vax are about 8X less than getting serious, long term problems from catching c0v1d without the vaxx in your system. You're also more likely to spread c0v1d if you catch it and you're not vaxxed, because you'll have a higher viral load. You will be more infectious.
@8lec_R
@8lec_R 2 года назад
Don't trust them. Read scientific studies done by other people on the vaccines. The vaccines have been out long enough that we have 3rd party data to verify whether the claims are true or not. Yes to a great extent they are true. The only issue I have with this vaccine system is the lack of information for those who are either at risk (some kind of immuno-deficiency) of severe side-effects or at risk from getting blood clots. It's infuriating how no one is talking about the risk of blood clots and what precautions to take to make sure the people who are at risk can take medications to prevent it. There should be tests done to make sure people aren't at risk of getting blood clots. For people with immuno-deficiency, there's the risk from getting the vaccine and there's a risk of unknowingly contracting the virus. Both these risks need to be compared and must be taken into account before deciding to get or to not get the vaccine. I've seen a person die cuz they didn't get the vaccine, but they may have been able to get the vaccine and potentially still be alive. Another person I know got the vaccine, got extremely sick and had to be admitted to a hospital for a week, but when they contracted the virus 2 months later, they were pretty ok. This needs to be discussed more often

The biggest thing that should make us suspicious of this convoy protest is that they have no working class demands, and actually most people in Canada do not agree with them. The very idea that the only thing keeping workers not free is mandates, is itself implying that everything from union-busting to exorbitant housing prices, and low wages, is perfectly fine and somehow does not hamper ppl's freedom, but having to prevent infection to save workers lives does hamper freedom. Ultimately the movement is one of anti-science and divisiveness, creating anger against health workers and those vulnerable. A much bigger sign of fascism than of any rational workers movement.

It's an interesting topic (whether a vaccine mandate is possible in an anarchistic society). I think it isn't. However, you could still have people collectively decide to interact with people on an individual basis depending on their vaccination status. Say give a token of some kind to people who've gotten the jab, y'know? The token would have to be given by some council or elected body, probably (unless everyone in this society somehow knows how to do an antigen test). I know it's not an ideal solution, but if your society wants to impose vaccination at all upon its people, that's really the least-intrusive way to do it IMO. Just make it so people can tell whether or not someone's been vaccinated, and then make their own decision.

>anti-mandate pro-vax IS a consistent stance with antihierarchical beliefs. anit-mandate is not the same as anit-vax and too many people make them out to be the same. glad you voiced that. >outside of the conservative right wing angle on the protests, the message itself is something that a leftist could reasonably argue too. like you said, "these people these protesters a lot of them anyway were you know legitimately concerned with a lot of real world problems that they were facing because of the covid 19 pandemic and all of the ridiculous security theater that was put into place by the government in canada to make us seem like we were being more safe while more and more people were seeing that they really weren't that much more safe" "the concerns that a lot of the regular people that aren't nazis might have are based in something legitimate and if we're able to give socialistic solutions to a lot of those actual systemic problems then we can stop anybody who isn't a nazi or isn't a fascist or isn't a right winger at all from seeing that protest as anything beneficial and you know shepherd those people towards doing something that actually matters direct action mutual aid things that actually might change the system in a real systemic way" > im confused, yes the protests are a jumble of ideological issues but lets focus on the voiced point of the protests vaccine mandate. how can direct action and mutual aid address anti-vaccine ideas? "hey do know that there are problems and a lot of them do feel that within their families their communities and even yeah in their pocketbooks things aren't looking so good so they want to do something to stop this incredible problem that's happening then a lot of them are confused on what to actually do about it . so when they visibly see a bunch of people that are fighting against the system and those people somewhat getting concessions from that system they tend to actually think that it might be beneficial to them " >IMO it is a lack of available solutions. there is minimal guidance for people. just being a follower to a charismatic leader is not what i am talking about either. i am talking about organizations leading the way through their action. bringing to fruition sustainable working systems and having places for new people to work in the organization. there are plenty of people that are willing to join in and help make the change needed in the world, i find they just don't want to risk everything to be the people starting the process of change. the common person does not have that entrepreneurial instinct. you say yourself a little later: "so it should be up to us to give them those solutions and to teach the regular people within our lives people that might be sympathetic to this entire idea that there is a real way forward and it's together not divided". you also mention burn out. people are burnt out just surviving. i see people avoiding being the change in the world becasue there are not systems in place to make their actions easy. there is no support systems in place to get people able to do direct action. we need all hands on deck... but no one ever tells us at what port that deck is on and the directions to the marina. " entire workforce in general has isn't against necessarily the mandates themselves it's against everything else that caused these problems all of the real systemic things that make it harder for you to live rising prices inflation job loss the lack of proper medical care or pharmacare vanishing pensions the ability for people to actually work a single job and pay their rent at the same time having a family where not everybody has worked to death the idea of eventually owning your own home all of these things are what's really plaguing the canadian and american people right now " > a hard disagree here. yes, all the things you listed are much more real problem. but this protests is, on its face, about mandates. its a cop out to to not address this directly. what is the antihierarchical left response to people that do not want to get vaccinated? "these hierarchical forces that have been holding us down this entire time they're going to convince us every single time that we should never work together and we should never fight for something that would equally benefit all of us" > i could see this very easily being used to get the left to support the mandate protesters.

Societies have a right to defend themselves, and one way they do this is vaccines. The "trucker" protest is a fundraiser grift, pure and simple. It's run by people who have done other fundraiser grifts in the past.

You mean just like antifa and BLM? Protesters should not receive funds. and if they do it certainly means that all protesters are grifters, aight? Anyway, you're next. Watch when they block your bank account for protesting and don't complain.

@@sompompir There's a difference between sporadically protesting in various places on foot and permanently blocking selected infrastructure with machinery. There's a difference between a majority of people protesting for the equity of an oppressed-minority and an unoppressed-minority of people utilizing mob-rule to whine about their desire to oppress the majority of people. Ignorant working-class addicts who can't tell the difference are the reasons why the wealthy-class addicts instituted mandates in the first place. At least the disgusting wealthy-class understands that viruses don't care about your socioeconomic position. A large portion of the working-class have been rendered to ignorant to understand and too selfish to care.
