There is a documentary series in Australia that originally started with “Old people’s home for 4 year olds” followed by “Old people’s home for teenagers”. They are both carefully, caringly, and professionally controlled and measured social experiments that had wonderful results for all involved. I recommend it 😉
Highly recommend old people's home for teenagers too what a difference it made in both the teenagers and the elderly peoples lives aired on ABC television Australia might find it on RU-vid just found you very enjoyable and positive
The clip where the bus driver left her behind, was longer because a car stopped and gave her a lift, but it was pretty F'ed as the person also had a disability.
The unidentified animal at (17:25) that the guy was ushering across the road, looks to me, to be an Echidna. If you "google" yourself that puppy, you'll see why he was reticent to pick it up.
Exactly, where are all the good news stories, they do exist because people are basically decent! In Australia, crime does hit the front news because of its rarity, but we have local heroes every week who deserve time! 🙋 Yes it's an important connection between teens and the elderly, they are generally more calm and approachable than parents! I moved in with my much older grandmother at 18 and she gently but firmly transformed my thinking, and loved my friends visiting too! We have had social experiments with kindergarten children visiting local nursing homes and it was a huge success too - more stories, attention and confidence for the kids and more activity, and hugs, for the oldies! 🤗
There was a series here in Australia called old persons home for teenagers. It was really interesting to watch the old people and teenagers find common ground and become great friends. They also did a series called old people’s home for 4 year olds.
the little bird is a Noisy Minor and was a little fledgling. So stil a very junior bird, and the guy shooing the animal across the road that was an echidna
There has been trial programs in Australia where youth who do not feel connected, are introduced to old people in a home for the aged, who do no have family to visit, and it has been really successful in helping both groups to feel valued and worthwhile.
I worked in a nursing home in the 70’s and 80’s. We had kindergarten children visiting our residents about twice very year that I worked there. It’s not a new thing invented by the ABC. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I think that’s an amazing thing! I also think that grandparents teach their grandchildren things that they can’t learn from their parents! Also young people are more open to learn from the older generation than they are from their parents. So kudos to you for recognising that!and good luck! I think it’s genius to put old Leandro troubled youth together lol cause those old coots won’t put up with their B.S 😊
An Aussie who’s lived in the GTO for 10 years. There’s such a strong common thread between Aussies, New Zealanders and Canadians. We are so alike. Not sure exactly why. We are all outdoors people, all a smaller country although Canada is the only one with an idiot neighbor. All part in some way of the commonwealth although we all don’t give a shit about it. All have a greater sense of common sense justice than most. And all have awesome fishing!!! 😊
AFL GF starts in an hour....Go the lions!! Yeah, there are more good people out there than jerks. There's programs in Australia where young children visit aged care facilities/retirement homes etc because of the benefits that go both ways. Firstly, it gives these older retirees some young enthusiastic kids to associate with/nurture/hugs/teach/play etc and on the other hand it provides a valuable lesson to the youngsters to basically respect their elders, learn from them and make those friendships with the elderly that maybe missing in their own lives. It's really touching seeing some of the stories and relationships that are made with this fantastic program/initiative.
@@SueNicholls-95 good luck, may the best team win....I'm a bombers supporter btw, but live in Brisbane and hated living in Sydney....which kind of explains a bit more lol
poor bloke in the second clip get's home "you are hopeless Darren! sent you to the shop for milk and a snickers! but no,that was to hard....YOU bring back a child and a shopping trolley and no receipt!!!!What if we wan't a refund Darren? ya hopeless you great boofhead!" "sorry love"
A lot of young people don't respect older people. I didn't myself but now I'm older I help my older neighbours regularly sometimes there a pain but we are all going to get old this morning I had a knock on my door ar 6 which is early my old neighbour who is loosing it made me breakfast a bit early on a Sunday but the thought was there I have help her a lot lately as she in and out of hospital
I am not denigrating this video in any way, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you! I am tired however of other videos where someone is doing something nice, decent or just expected and the comments say things like "Wow! My faith in humanity is restored!" Well, my faith in humanity has never faltered and I feel sorry for others who feel that life, or the internet, has made them feel depressed. Nice things happen every day. Be nice too!
I only recently moved to the coast were you have internet I lived in what most people would call the outback no phone reception the internet is a eye opener im 64 years old and I can't believe a lot of the people especially women wanting their 10 second of fame but there is good as well like this
I think the bike rider was telling the driver to use his rearview mirror & when he was ignored he just turned the mirror in to show the driver he was really pissed off.
Great idea but stretch it to low needs disabled (people in wheelchairs) it works very well for this demographic, as well as the elderly or it does in Australia.
Don't watch this and think "we need more people like this in the world." Watch this, and choose to be more like these people. This isn't something we can rely on other people to be. It has to be all of us, too.
