Young man, the humility of respect you show gives the son of a liberated Dutch woman hope in a cynical age.

My father received a medal for this. He was invited to a class of grade 3 to speak to them. No kidding, but the very 1st question was a little boy asking if he knew Hitler. lol He had an honerary funeral. Couldn't be more proud.

My family is originally from the Netherlands and they always talk about how happy and thankful they were when the Allies liberated them. Canadian soldiers are especially close to their hearts. God Bless. :)

I wasn't around when the war happened or when we were liberated but I have grown up with all the story's from my parents and grandparents. When I see how they look back at the Canadians, Americans, Polish and British liberators I think we have no choice but make sure the victims and survivirs among them will be remembered and honored for ages to come. Thank you Veterans for our Liberty, thank you supercanadiandude for helping to keep the memory alive

I live and grew up around here. Everybody respects the memorials a lot. As kids we went there for school, and talked about the allies. With the boyscouts we went there once every year to lay flowers on Liberation day. The same town has a museum with wax dolls enacting Market Garden and a tank on a pedestal. Kids like me would crawl under the tank when we thought no-one was looking, and we'd end up inside the tank. bunch of 10 year old's talking about how the rust could be bloodstains.. I never fully realized as a kid what it all meant. I am now around the median age of the two thousand six hundred and nineteen men buried there. I still can't imagine what it must have been like to go through war here.

I can’t imagine the feeling of this young man. Geez when my Opoe and I went to a Canadian cemetery it was at request, I can only read who is there: That was my only request when I was asked if I wanted to go. I could not believe how well kept and respectful they are to the Canadian cemeteries. It was something special to see with my own eyes.

I have 2 distant family members buried in Groesbeek among the 8 distant family members buried overseas. (2 in Groesbeek, 1 in Belgium, 3 in France and 2 in Italy) An honor to have them in my family tree. Utmost respect for the deceased and very happy to see how well kept these cemeteries are in their memory. Rest In Peace dear soldiers

Dan - Have you heard of the program Faces to Graves? Check out the website - www.facestograves.nl . You can send them a story of your family member buried in any of the 3 Dutch Canadian gravesites. If you scroll down to James Earl Hoover, that's my uncle.

Thank you for showing love and respect to our Canadian soldiers that didn't come home. A lot of people don't realize how young most of them were. My father was a sniper for the Canadian Army in WW11. He was 16 when he enlisted, as he lied about his age (as did many others). Respect

I see it in your eyes young man. You need not say a word, The heart felt emotions and how proud you feel, listening to you speak, I see and felt your emotions and that is because my grandfather was at battle of the bulge WW2 in US Army, Tank Division. How proud we are of him, and miss him dearly. It's good to remember and carry that pride with you always. Never forget, god bless.

Deep respect...it's often believed by some folk to be understated how much Britain depended upon brave servicemen from the whole Commonwealth, (or Empire as it was then), just to hang on in those desperate years from 1939 until 1942/3 when Americans started to actively enter the conflict...as a child of the early fifties I understand how this belief has arisen, but I for one freely acknowledge the debt we all owe to the Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, Indians, West Indians and all the others who bravely fought in a war which didn't immediately (but which would eventually perhaps) involve them... Something similar arises out of the First World War, when even more incredibly most of the Empire wasn't even immediately threatened and yet responded valiantly. Bless you all...your sacrifice most certainly IS recognised by Britons of "a certain generation"...we can only hope to suitably educate the later generations before we go!
