Spent a busy afternoon at Dorval and saw plenty of CN/CP/VIA and EXO trains plus lots of aircraft taking off from Pierre Trudeau Airport. This visit brought back memories of my frequent Canadian rail travel exploits.
Great video!! . Many of our Canadian relatives worked for CNR or CPR in several capacities. I had 4 years of French in school and like you probably couldn't have a conversation. I can read menus and street signs Thanks RR😀😀💚💚
Montreal is a beautiful city!!! American Airlines has non stop flights from LaGuardia to Montreal and they used to fly nonstop to both Toronto and Montreal from JFK but stopped ever since the pandemic
As someone who grew up near Budd's plant, I am anti Bombardier (I'm joking). I have always loved CP's PAC Man logo and watching them with the Delaware and Hudson geeps in South Philly when they had would work down there. Love the VIA F40PHS, my favorite passenger locomotives.
Glad you were able to make it to Dorval! It has more activity than I would have thought. I live near the CP mainline in Toronto, so some of the trains I see on overpasses must be headed that way.
Took the train from Montreal to Toronto back in March and it was probably the most uncomfortable train ride I’ve ever had lmao. We weren’t delayed at all on the way there, but my goodness, I’ve been spoiled with the comfortable concrete ties and moveable point switches! Very bumpy and rocky when going through switches.
Very interesting and informative video. I nominate RR to be the new star host of Smithsonian Channel's Mighty Trains series, which is produced in Canada. Our family arrived up north by boat (not train) in the 1840s (settled in Elora near Toronto) but left for CT/VT/NH/ME and NJ in the early 1900s. Missed having that back-up passport and free medical care by one generation dang-it. Our bucket list includes a trans-Canadian rail trip. Go Avs!
do VIA's F40s have 645-series prime movers? they sound more like the 710-series found in the SD60s and PL42AC than the F40s on NJT and Metra. Also why do I feel like it has the same HEP system as the P42DC engines?
