Canal Fishing with Lures - Action Packed Evening Pike Fishing

Looks like you had fun! Lots of little pike, suggests bigger ones being removed?? Same problem in my neck of the woods. I'd definitely give the pike flies a go, I use a beefy trout fly rod designed for punching lures out into the wind. Don't worry about distance or back cast behind, most of the hits come when fishing parallel along the near bank. Don't forget a light wire trace, and maybe sinking polyleader if using a floating line. You'll jump out of your skin when a big pike follows and seizes the lure! Another option is old school float and lobworm down the deeper centre channel of the canal, throw in a few chopped worms in balls of molehill soil, and it won't be long before the stripeys turn up! Leave it a few minutes, and then twitch it back a foot or two. It's amazing how often there's a bite just after moving the bait. Great video, looking forward to more 👍
