Whats crazy is that they patented (trademarked?) the nemesis system so no one else can use it, and then they cancel the game using it. Christ WB needs to fall off a cliff

@thesaint717 more so overall wb just makes bad decisions, sometimes they make some good ones but like the news recently where they think live service games is the future yet suicide squad is a flop and hogwarts legacy made bank. Or canceling the finished batgirl movie as a tax cut yet there's conflicting reports from their heads and other people as to how the quality of the movie actually was.

Nah I didn't, the Batman Begins game they made sucked and this would have been heavily tied to the Dark Knight movie which means a ton of restrictions on what they could do. Plus we would have never got Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War which still are incredible games. Plus the voice acting in the Batman Begins game was horrendous, movie tie in games like that are generally never that great.

@@ezzahhh say what you will about batman begins it was a great batman game in my opinion and if it where not for arkham i still be playing it to this day.

@@user-zd1oc3pz8s ​ That's absolutely fair enough mate. I'm in full support of that as well, I'd love to see more Batman games of all types including that one being expanded upon. Didn't mean to disparage that game so much in my post. I must admit I only played a very little bit of it a long time ago and I admit I have a bias for movie licensed games. I am sure it's much better then I ever gave it credit for, especially considering the type of low effort AAA games that come out nowdays. I'm glad that you enjoyed it as much as you did mate and maybe one day i'll give that game the chance it deserves and do a full playthrough of it if I can get my hands on it again.

The executives at WB have absolutely no idea what the fans actually want, just look at how bad they are managing the DCU and even the animated movies now. These are dark times to be a DC fan, can only hope that Wonder Woman game turns out to be incredible since that's all I got to hold out hope for now.

You would have so many restrictions that it would defeat the purpose of making it, the game was only being designed as a movie tie in game like the Batman Begins game but for The Dark Knight instead. You wouldn't be able to have Joker in it since Heath has passed away and they wouldn't be able to get someone else to voice him since it would be in poor taste. In any case if you look at the Batman Begins game it wasn't very good, with very poor voice acting and mechanics overall. Movie tie in games are a thing of the past and their quality has never been that great. If they were to make an original Batman game with the nemesis system today set in their own universe then yeah I'd 100% be down for that, but in hindsight I'm glad they decided to go with Shadow of Mordor since that game and the sequel turned out to be amazing (apart from the end game grind at launch WB forced in Shadow of War that was fortunately patched out).

i feel ya while marvel is cooking with there characters in games. but i know DC fans are hurting right now i hope wonder woman turns out great.

Funny enough I think both games would likely have done better if their dates of release, marketing budgets and premises where swapped.

To be fair movie tie in games where I a VERY bad place at the time.. Batman begins did not sell or review well.. I can see why since the system was still untested

​@@timothypatch5080I'm Spideyranger here (Guy who posted the videos and pics) Monolith intended for this game to be ambitious. Asides the Nemesis System, the open world would've been filled with random crimes such as Bank heists, store robberies, car chases, etc And despite the core combat sharing a lot with Rocksteady's free flow, there was also gonna be the option of unlocking different martial art styles. The Tumbler would've been an optional means of traversal for those who wanted to go around quicker This is partly why the game was cancelled because Warner Bros didn't want two Batman franchises conflicting with each other.

It's actually not as bad as it was made out to be, Yes they were successful in patenting "The Nemesis System" but if someone wanted to make a game with a system called "The Revenge System" with some very minor changes to how it functioned then there would be absolutely nothing WB could do. Here's some info from people who have knowledge in this field that dug into into it all a little deeper: "As someone that actually read the patent, it is very weak and was rejected at least 7 times before it was narrowly scoped to details within their game (i.e forts with hierarchical command structures) to get it accepted. You can definitely make a system like this with very minor difference that does not infringe on WB patent, just most don't bother looking at the details of what is protected. The patent itself never should have been granted and it would likely not hold up if even weakly challenged in court. I do hope we see another developer utilize a similar system soon since it was a very fun gameplay mechanic in those games.

@@ezzahhhyeah exactly. AC Odyssey had a mercenaries system that was similar but distinct enough to not be caught by the patent. It’s easy to make a similar system - as the patent is narrow.
