Thank you for the encouragement Spirit of the wolf, the new video should be out in a week or two. I think you'll like it, it was filmed in a wilderness Area down here.
Great in all aspects. The intro and the acting in it, any two people could practice what were well chosen and effective defenses Joe knows the perfect stories to provoke inspiration and awe.
Thank you for incorporating your world view into your training, I'm inspired to do the same. I'm working hard on the forms you have taught in your videos.
It can't just be me who thinks that this would never work against anyone who has actually held a knife before. You usually don't make a single stabbing strike but a slash as well. Plus, the neck grab seems like it could be very easily avoided. The hook on a cane just isn't big enough to quickly wrap around someone who actually has eyes to see it coming. I'd gladly take a cane over nothing but if I could choose a sharp object like a knife, I would without hesitation
A cane made out of oak or preferably hickory (even harder) can break an elbow, knee or skull with a powerful direct or even a glancing blow. You have a 3 foot advantage fighting with a cane - use that advantage. My plan would be to scare the attacker off with some of the moves demonstrated here to show him your control and if needed disarm him (broken wrist would do it). By that stage there wouldn't be much fight left in him and with no knife in his hand I would want to leave but if he wanted more you can oblige. I personally wouldn't use a cane for in close fighting though you can quite effectively but you loose the big advantage of distance and after all, he could take it off you. You keep your knife, I will keep my cane. 😊
This isn't meant to actually be used for real life defense or any other horrible situation. Like real martial art, it's not about kicking ass, but mentality and spirit. These things would likely not work in a real situation, because first off, he'd have a GUN and not a knife anyway, but it's about keeping your spirit when you're old and depending on a cane. Martial art doesn't have to be fully deadly to be effective, it just needs to make the user FEEL powerful and have a sound mind.
@@werewolfking2646 The video is called 'Self defense' so, yes, this is meant to be used against an attacker. Your point about them attacking with a gun carries no weight either because I fortunately live in a country that outlaws guns. Martial art is about defending yourself in hand to hand combat btw
You need to shop around a little more on cane self defense. These tools can break every bone in your body, and these slow motion moves are for practice and demonstration. Performed at real speed the bad guy would have little chance against a well practiced cane operator. Whether the knife attacker was using short jabs or this overhand thing, you still have 30 inches more reach than he does
@@joebruno1380 keep at it man. I dont personally practice Cane Fu but I find your vids to be very informative and relaxing. Really appreciate this content 🙂
