I remember hearing this for the first time on the a train ,my homie passed me head phones ,I couldn’t even talk it was dope. I jumped off the a train on Hoyt schemhorn and ran to beat street to get that clue tape . 90’s rap come back
Greatest emcee of all time. F anyone who dismissed him because of his debut album. He has plenty of classics that followed up but you won't listen to them because they're not party tracks. GTFOHWTBS!
@@calienteelfriende5842 and a big Canibus fan too, wasn't afraid to show it either. Samples for Super Lyrical on his debut album was Canibus and Biggie. Pun was a beast with the bars.
Me too when a Chilean dude let me listen to it one day. His best best freestyles were that one and that Ice Cream freestyle on Funk Flex Volume 3. I literally gasped for air @ the very last line. When it came to guest spots and freestyles, Canibus in 1997-98 was that n***a.
Canibus was my #1 all-time influence when I tried my hand at rapping despite not having the confidence or the personality for it. I remember always checking for him just to hear what he had to say next so I could come up with my own version. I loved how he spaced out his punchlines to give them their much-needed effectiveness.
I finally found this freestyle today ! When I heard it the first time I knew not a single letter in English language !! Hahah but remembered the rapper’s name
That’s legit af. If anyone gets mad at your comment they obviously don’t like real hip hop. I would’ve rather they collaborated then battled. Especially if it was on a Dr. Dre beat.
everyone can pretend like Em was better than Canibus.. just because of his commercial success.. and don't get me wrong.. white black, jamaican hatian, puerto rican.. whatever.. Em is one of the dopest lyrical mc's to ever touch a mic...but............ he WAS NOT better than canibus... canibus had so many quotables for a rapper with no album at the time it was ridiculous.. plus he was very intelligent how he set up his bars... and what really blew my mind was.. he's jamaican..lol and can speak patwa... and is probably (IMO) the illest lyricist i've ever heard touch a mic.... PERIOD.... bar for bar..... "on the microphone i'm sicker than those who've acquired immune deficiency syndromes".... damn...smh
Eminem wanted no parts of Canibus in that 2nd Round Knockout period . Eminem hid behind the machine for a couple of years before releasing that silly song Can-i-bitch and some half ass lines on Square Dance. Eminem can setup the rhyme schemes and make shit sound pretty and razzle dazzle-ish, but when it comes to intelligent, thought provoking lyrics Eminem isn't in Canibus league and I personally believe Eminem knew this . That's why he took comedic route with Canibus. Like you said, Canibus had so many quotables from freestyles and didn't even have an album out. I wish Canibus would've gotten his just due . Canibus is incredible.
@@BlackMusicGenre I 100% agree, thats why em went the comedic kinda childish route, its like when your with a group of your friends in an argument, it doesn't matter if you are completely correct with stats and facts to prove it, if your friend roasts you and makes all your boys laugh, he wins the argument.
@@markbrown4597 I don't understand why people don't understand this. Eminem knew Canibus is a dope MC. Canibus was to dope for his own good. Eminem couldn't see Canibus on the mic back then . If you ask me Eminem isn't secure about his legacy in hip-hop it seems. He's still trying rap like he has something to prove and not in a good way . It's like he's still try to chase the brilliance of MCs that were in they're 20s and even some like Rakim were in their late teens when came into the public eye to present their art . Eminem isn't doing this in climate of stiff competition in the mainstream, but in the climate of mumble rap, emo, and whatever other current put together genre is out here. Eminem is good at contorting his words and having a bit of witticism with his approach, and toss in a bit of double and possibly triple entendres into that salad. It's cool, funny, and even entertaining for a while. At the end of the day what did you learn or what knowledge did you gain from decoding his "layered" bars ? Again, can Eminem rhyme? Yes. Is he one of the best ? I wouldn't deny that. Is he in my top 10 ? No. What's crazy is that Eminem still gruding with Canibus. I believe he bragged on a Conway song about how he destroyed Canibus and wasn't true.
I remember back then a couple cats in highschool use to call Bis wack. They use to freestyle during lunch. When I was listening to them freestyle. THEY WOULD RECITE BIS LINES. I called them out for it and they swear the lines where originally from them.. smh
@@Crates94 he litterally tride to neo the whole world of mr andersons. canibus is goat and trid to save us through bars. and thats why he is the goat. not only he tried to save us, but at a lyrical level unheard of, even till this day there is no one that comes close. canibus goat.
Freestyle: In hip-hop is an improtu style which hasn't been formatted to a song or has, but it's not the original song. It could be a pre-written verse or off the top.
this guys lyrics are still fire even today. he was ahead of his time. wyclef just couldnt do him justice, if Canibus would have came out after 2000 the game would not be the same right now. the stuff he used to say in the mid 90's was jaw dropping his Beast from the East verse is one of the best verses ever in hiphop
Now this how you make a goddamn entrance!!! "I speak at frequencies dogs will have trouble hearing Canibus is the lyrical version of German engineering...."
Damn this man was no joke on the mic after hearing cannabis Ron is hard to listen to other rappers his s*** was just crazy even now in 2020 they still nobody f****** with him
For all ya eminem fan boys this dude actually wrote his rhymes..plus this has soul that we can relate to..eminem has always been hyped and overrated to me..i noticed after Proofs/ghostwriters death eminem was never the same and went into hiding..you give lyrics to an average white dude and itll sound extraordinary because were not used to hearing shit like that coming from a white dude.. I actually heard this live back then. I was in my 20s driving my sc400 lexus on the southern state highway in NY and I literally had to pull over and turn it up to the max on the nakamichi system...lol. people in their late 30s and 40s know what I'm talking about. I wish m.c.s were still creative and hungry like this..I miss the 90s..shit was so real back then.
The first beat is fire!! Thats rza at his best!! Damn im tryna find the original I think it was cappadonna tho,, not sure the second is rza also raekwon incarcerated scarfaces..
