Rise and go through those bags of cranberries I pulled out over 15 berries that where rotted mushy or just needed to go into the compost. We gave those to the chickens. The rinse water was also full of particles as I double rinsed them. 3 bags of berries I bought and each bag had about the same results. I was making a fermented cranberry jar with honey and stuff to sit out 30 days.
I canned 4 large 2 lb bags of cranberries yesterday. The way I do mine is a spinoff from a RAW cranberry relish that my mother use to make. I use equal amounts of diced pears and apples. Grind up whole oranges peeling and all. Combined them all in a sauce pan to cook. And then add sugar to taste. And then process them. I prefer to water bath can mine and that’s what I did. It is so delicious. There’s no recipe for this. it’s about the same amount of apples pears and cranberries. And probably one to four oranges depending on how many fruits you cube. Cook sweeten and can. So good. We use ours on top of oatmeal. It’s the best. After watching the complete video. I left mine all chunky. Chunky pears chunky apples chunky cranberry the only thing I ground up was the oranges.
Ann M Laughlim, that sounds so delicious. Thank you for sharing your recipe. New all I have do fine fresh Cranberries in Australia as so far I've only found dried Cranberries. 😋
Sometimes, when I watch your videos, I'm so into your instruction and voice, I don't wanna be interested by an ad --- AND that's meant as a compliment! Thank you. For all your content. You have gracefully opened so many people's eyes and it's a blessing. You are a blessing for the messages you bring.
I make orange cranberry sauce. It's always a hit and sooo easy! ½ cup fresh orange juice, from two oranges ½ cup water ¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar 1 (12 oz) bag fresh or frozen cranberries (do not use dried) Zest of one orange, about 2 teaspoons Pinch salt Bring the water, juice and sugar to a boil (or at least heat until the sugar dissolves). Add the cranberries, zest and salt and cook down to desired thickness.
OMG I get so down on myself sometimes because I have a serious self image issue... When you said "I'm 140 and 5'3"." I could have cried... I'm 140 and 5'3" too 😭 and I think you're such a beautiful lady... Maybe I should give myself a little break ha? Lol 🤣 Thanks once again for another great video ❤️
I love that you pureed the fruit so there's no waste or dehydrating the pulp! I love how easy this seemed and that I can put into smaller jars because a whole store bought can is too much for us. Now you got me thinking about the 2 cans I have if it's possible to recan them...ugh, you get me into trouble more often than you know! LOL
Looks beautiful!! My family avoids sugar so we would probably sweeten with stevia. Would I need to add anything extra or are the cranberries acidic enough to can with just stevia?
Beautiful to look at and I am sure the taste will be lovely. Wish we could get fresh cranberries in South Africa!! Thanks for the recipe, might try it with cherries. Stay well.
1 bag of cranberries fills a 1 quart jar after sorting and removing any mushy berries. So 2 bags is 4 pints give or take. I see those 6 bags gave you 9 jars not the 12 I assumed you might get. Due to the 10 min boil down time and the air pockets removed once cooked down no more air pockets between berries... GOOD DEAL. I love mine as whole berries but this blender idea is also great I might try that with have the berries and combine them before caning. I'm doing a quarts of fermented cranberries in honey and other goodies that sit 30 days before ready.
Oh my gosh the part where it holds it’s shape! I’m in! I made my first ever home made batch of cranberry sauce last week and I LOVE it. Going to make this as soon as the cranberries go on sale after thanksgiving 😂
Looks lovely and delicious. I just made a big batch of cranberry sauce and bought more today to make more. I don’t blend or strain mine. We LOVE the berries in it.
I add orange juice, fresh oranges or clementine, maraschino cherries and a cinnamon stick to my cranberry sauce. I haven't canned any yet though, but it's on my list of things to do.
I am going to make this…I love cranberry sauce and this video has given me the courage to do it. I’m a newbie canner but this I can do…I’m glad you showed using the blender because I don’t think I could strain all of that using the strainer I have😊. Thank you!
Great job! Looks wonderful. When the cranberries were on sale after Christmas last year, I bought a bunch and made jars and jars of whole cranberry sauce plus other cranberry based items. Love my cranberries.
New sub here! One of my subscribers recommend your channel and I'm so glad they did! You seem so down to earth and I can see us being friends! Thanks for the delicious cranberry sauce recipe! I love cranberries as well! Thanks for sharing!
I love this idea! I'm going to make some with the open kettle method, since the cranberries are acidic and so is the large amount of sugar that's needed to sweeten them. I'll use more water since I'll have to boil my berries for a longer period of time to get them up to temp. I'll also boil my jars and lids to sterilize them. It probably won't be until after Thanksgiving, but I'll let y'all know how it turns out.
Ok, so I just canned my cranberry sauce. However, since I already had a pot of boiling water on the stove, I decided to boil the jars a little. But it was not for 10 mins because I started timing with the chatter, and one of my jars even stuck out of the water. I doubt the sauce inside the jars had enough time to get any hotter. I filled the jars to about ⅛" from the top. They all sealed beautifully. (Not to discredit Leilani's method, but I just want to share how I did it.)
This looks so easy. How about using jelly jars to give as gifts for your single friends or the elderly, who just don't eat as much? You also just reminded me of the best cranberries I ever had. Spice it up with cloves, nutmeg & orange peel. A splash of spiced rum & a dollop of honey. Yummy Keep on cooking & canning girl...love your channel!!
I have been impatiently waiting for this video lol. I had searched to see if you had a cranberry sauce recipe and was so sad to find out there wasn’t one. And then I saw the short and was like yesssss! I froze my cranberries and now I’ll be canning them tomorrow. Thank you!
Thanks for making this video I been waiting for you to make this so that I could watch. I will be doing mine this weekend. Keep on canning and sharing! Always enjoy watching your channel.
Looks so good! I've watched the video a couple of times. I'm wanting to dry can sweet potatoes but haven't seen anyone on youtube do it so I guess I'm gonna have to wait since I'm not a leader lol. I think you've done the water bath version but the liquid in the jars takes away some of the flavor.
I made cranberry sauce for the first time this year! I found that adding orange and lemon zest along with orange and lemon juice, plus a cinnamon stick while it simmered, really brightened and added a more dimensional flavor profile. I also used and immersion blender to purée some of it but just a little.
Do you think I would be able to make this recipe without the blend. My mom loves the cranberry recipe on the bag freshly made and not blended. She is not a fan of canned jellied like cranberries. I was thinking how nice it would be to have the cranberry sauce anytime without all the work. I'm just not sure if it would turn out ok. Ps love your channel. Thank you so much for sharing your cooking journeys.
You always inspire me to try something new and I am very excited to make this. Thank you for giving me the confidence. Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!
FYI, in case you want to make more, BBs has cranberries on sale, I just bought two bags today to save for juice, but I might have to get more to make this 😉
You should put at least a wire rack, face cloth, or use canning rings between your jars and the bottom of your pot, your jars should never be directly on the bottom. The jars can and do break thermal
Good morning when making cranberry sauce and I've never done it, I'd like to try does it set up like a jam without pectin and is that because of the acid in the cranberries?
