I have never canned meatballs, I have always frozen them. I am curious on the texture of them after canned. I think it is a great idea to add the broth before you add the meatballs! I also enjoy watching Bev! I just finished making 20 hamburger patties and 5 meatloaf for the freezer. I also debone a rotisserie chicken from Costco and filled my crockpot with the bones and skin to make broth. While I was at Costco I got a huge watermelon but it doesn't have much taste so I sliced half and then diced it up to put on my dehydrator. If I get up th he energy I am going to peel 35 pounds of potatoes so I can get them canned up tomorrow. Food preparation is tiring 😳😏 But I love having it ready for meals for after work

These meatballs are perfect. Because they are partially precooked, and then canned in broth I find the texture to they would be if you cooked them in say spaghetti sauce. I restarted canning a few years ago and based on current events and some life changing issues in the past I am so grateful. I love that I am eating at last years or 2017 prices lol. I also dehydrate, but tend to purchase Thrive Life freeze dried foods monthly. Can't beat the shelf life. I hope you will subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and enjoy all my videos. Stay save and healthy.

Can I use ground pork mixed in with my ground beef for canning my meatballs?

Hi. Thank you for the video. I've always been curious about whether meatballs can be canned. It made sense you using all those spices as a binder. If no starch so breadcrumbs were out. Is fermented Parmesan cheese an exception to the no dairy rule? I think you're feeling the jars first with broth was a brilliant idea so it's not to beat up all your meatballs while the bubbling! I don't remember any canning recipes that include eggs but I don't remember there being a rule against it. If you could help me out with this I would appreciate it so much as I have hand problems and can only make meatballs sometimes. I would really like to be able to make a whole batch of cans on a day where my hands are good so that I can pull them off the shelf on a day when they're not so good. Thank you so much for this informative video. . 😊

In stead of buying freeze dried expensive food, we should get a group together and chip in for a dehydrator. We could all get a schedule for use and make as much stuff as we can!!!

Check your thrift stores often. I found some, but I already had 3 that I bought in adds. I got my large Excalibur (9 trays for $100.00). I love to dehydrate for my family.

How long did you have them in the oven, and at what temp?

I think 350, and you just want to partially cook them so they hold their shape during the canning process.

Is this a Rebel Canning Recipe? Ijust wanted to ask because I was told you could not can dairy products and you added eggs and cheese. New to canning so just asking to learn. Thank you.

I don't believe so. I don't typically rebel can.

While I love canning, I just can’t eat ground beef that is cooked in sauce. I need the partially crispy sides. I am going to can some ground beef, but maybe I should do just 2 pints to see if I like it

Not criticizing, but I am a new canner and it is my understanding we are not to use eggs or cheese in canning recipes. There is so much conflicting info, it is very confusing.

You are correct. Raw egg should not be canned. However, since I practically precook these and then they are processed for no less than 75 mins, I feel confident the eggs are cooked. Trust me when I say, these don't last more than a year on my shelf, I love meatball sandwiches. The cheese is minimal and they are primarily referring to say taking a block of cheese and canning it. If you go through my videos you will see some of my "rebel" canning. Like making and canning lactose free evaporated milk. I am still using it 2 years later with no issues. If you haven't done so, please subscribe and check out all my old and up coming videos. Happy Canning.

I seen in can with and without the eggs and cheese. I for one won't can anything with eggs until I feel it's right. I've seen canning cheese so I'll add cheese. It's really all how you want to can.

Every canning book I've read explains why you should NOT can meat using raw eggs. Your REBEL CANNING.

Her house her rules. I've made meatballs with eggs and breadcrumbs for years and I'm still alive and have never gotten sick.

I canned meatballs YEARS ago.....like....8 years ago....my regular recipe too, bread crumbs (light on the seasoning only because some of them get bitter over time ~ no pun intended) and guess what! They tasted like the day they were fried!! And nobody got sick, or died, or hollered, or got scared (we get scaredshitlessabouteverything) so.....make your recipe. I canned them in tomato sauce, some were canned in beef stock, some were canned dry (all of them fried first of course). I did them in quarts, and I did them in pints. They say you are not suppose to can macaroni. Oh, just the manufacturers can can macaroni huh. Two things we all should consider. Either we are being legally killed off with some serious tonnage of chemicals in that "macaroni boy R dee", or they are bullshittingus about canning macaroni. Maybe put it in dry, so the canning process doesn't turn it to mush? I dunno. I got mesmerized by the "thought policestapo". Can it and be happy.
