Ending to Part 1 & full episode "Small Cargo".
Cannonball was created by Robert Maxwell, one of the producers of The Adventures of Superman and the man responsible for Lassie. The New York Times reported on July 8th, 1958 that the series would be produced by Normandie Productions, Ltd. (the Canadian arm of Television Programs of America) with production set to begin in Toronto on July 14th [1]. Television Programs of America was responsible for filmed programs like Private Secretary, Fury, Halls of Ivy and Last of the Mohicans, among others.
In September of 1958, Television Programs of America and Normandie Productions were sold to the Independent Television Corporation [2].
On December 3rd, a full-page advertisement in The New York Times for Independent Television Corporation called Cannonball a "stirring human-interest series about truckers on the highway to high adventure" [3]. It was one of four shows the company had in production for "national sale" (the others were The Four Just Men, The Adventures of Tom Swift and Interpol Calling).
Paul Birch and William Campbell starred in Cannonball as Mike Malone, nicknamed Cannonball, and Jerry Austin, truckers working for C & A Transport who spent their days driving a big rig across Canada and the United States. Howard Milsom played Harry Butler, their dispatcher. Rounding out the cast were Beth Lockerbie, Beth Morris and Steve Barringer as Mike's wife Mary and his children Ginny and Butch.
The series premiered in Canada on Monday, October 6th, 1958, broadcast by CBC. Because it was syndicated locally in the United States there was no nation-wide premiere date. But it appears the show wasn't seen until 1959. Cannonball premiered in Los Angeles, for example, on Monday, May 18th, 1959 airing on KHJ from 8:30-9PM. In New York City, the series was seen on Fridays from 7:30-8PM beginning October 16th, 1959. And it aired on WGN-TV in Chicago from 8:30-9PM (7:30-8PM local time) starting on October 30th, 1959.
A total of 39 episodes of Cannonball were produced. In addition to Canada and the United States, the series was also seen in the United Kingdom. I'm afraid I don't know who sang the theme song.

I remember how much I loved semi trucks as a kid. This show was on one of the Chicago stations that came in very weak in our area in Indiana. So nice to see these again (in much better quality). It brings back good memories. Thank you for uploading.

I remember this show, I was about eight years old, and I didn't remember it being done in a Canada, but I sure did like this show when I was a kid, and I think it had something to do with me becoming a truck driver, and let me tell ya, the trucks I drove weren't buch bigger, or better than the truck mike drives their, they were plane jane cabover freightliners, with a Detroit ten speed in them, but I still love the sound of those Detroits.

My favorite show as a kid growing up in Detroit. It came on the CBC station, Channel 9. It didn't surprise my family one bit when I started driving.

I think the reason so many are commenting that they watched this as kids is because it was not a prime time show, but it was aired on US stations when kids had adult-free access to the tv. That was true for me. I loved the show.

This is the 1st time I've seen this in a whole boat load of years. I may write less proficiently than the other people, who have commented, but I Love this show. It has a gentle feel to it. Believe it was a Canadian TV show that was syndicated to the US. It would be nice if there were some DVD's of this show, though I doubt that would happen. If you have time to Upload some more Episodes, we'll all be watching. Thanx for what you have been kind enough to do already. Melanie MusicGal

@@christopherstubbs9333 Well then, how's this?? "You write, very well. Concise, and to the point. Thank you!! BTW, I am a retired, English teacher". There, I've cleaned it up, added punctuation, and brought it up to date (the BTW, reference). And this wasn't, an English class correction, but an American one😉👍.

Mike had to ring the doorbell 3 times at his own home. And if that's not enough, his children had to ring bell as well. Things must be cold at home. Seriously, I grew up watching what few episodes of this show there was. Paul Birch acted in several westerns of the 1940s. Usually a heavy.

Technical glitch: The children left Mike's house at night, but when everybody was chasing them through the switching yard it was day light. Two things that I would have preferred: 1. Train starting to move while the uncle is crawling under it. 2. Mike and his wife making an heroic "We'd rather to adopt them both ourselves than to see them separated" speech to the social worker and the other prospective parents.....and then they all say "OK, they're yours."

I thought this series seemed odd, it was Canadian! The police uniforms, license plates and dialogue were dead giveaways! Shot in Ontario Canada and distributed by "ITC" (Independent Television Corporation) which indicates it was likely run in the UK. Even the vocal theme smacks of a foreign series.
