The Jekyll stands out on the descents because of its short chainstays and ground-hugging suspension. It stands out on the climbs because of its secret weapon, the Gemini shock, which makes it potentially the best climber in the bunch.
I own this bike. I thought the Gemini was a gimmick. it had a bad knock in it and got it warrantied, but I honestly couldn't tell a difference between climb and descend mode. Just felt like a compression switch vs travel switch. I switched to a super deluxe and a lyrik and the bike came alive. the climb mode on the rockshox was way better for me. one of the most fun bike I've ever owned.
Do you have sizing advice for an In-betweener? My large 2016 trigger frame is being warrantied with the 2018. Looks like the reach is 11 mm longer on the 2018.. similar geometry to the jekyll. I know jerome clementz sizes up. Makes sense for high speed performance but will I be compromising comfort. I'm a few mm shy of 5'10" and have a 32 in inseam. Probably will have very little stand over on the large. Unfortunately, the medium is considerably smaller.
Hey Boys! I agree 100%. This bike was the perfect ride for long uphills and rough descends. However the short wheelbase esp with the short chainstays take their toll on the speed sections. I´m 82kg and it was super difficult to find a plush and progressive setup(special "Fox Ramp Rings" availabe for the gemini volumespacer). worth mentioning, super expensive spares. If you have to change the bearings on the swing leg you need to by an entire leg. 130€. That sucks. After 1.5 Years the colour fades. Still a cool and extremly agile bike. Absolute beast on uphills
Ebay has this bike for 3200$. I found a 2018 on CL hardly ridden for 1500$. I have not biked in decades. After testing my friends sauca I am hooked and amazed by these new bikes.
Been told by Fox that you cannot add volume spacers to a Gemini shock but this review States That you can If you know something that Fox doesnt know please post it so that we are all informed.
i got the 2018 Jekyll 4 and absolutely fell in love with it. The bumps feels so plushy. its just the price which gives me a lil chest pain once in a while. still worth it.
What type of trails are you riding? Do you use the full travel very often? I am thinking about getting a left over 2018 Jekyll 4, but fear it would be overkill and not very playful unless descending. Any idea what your Jekyll weighs? How much heavier is the Alloy vs Carbon Jekyll? Cheers!
Im really late, but did you end up getting the jekyll 4? I found a lightly used one on marketplace for just over 2k. Wondering if the bike is good for downhills, thanks!@@JZMartinez
Man ever since Vernon left you guys really don't have a strong personality to pull this thing together. Besides that dude on the right looks serious rockabilly especially when he rolls his eyes around. Come on guys get a real interviewer on here you need it
The Scott Genius design was brought over to Cannondale by the designer(Peter Denk) when he moved over. He now consults for Specialized, but I doubt we will see this type of system over there. :D
correct and the whole bike is nothing more then "a less expensive to built" 2014 Jekyll. same geo but they changed the low sitting pullshock to a high sitting push shock. They even quit building 160mm Lefties... (which are as good as any Fox 36)
