Robby and I hit up a canoe spot near Columbus along the Mad River in Western Ohio. It's an easy and simple canoe spot with camping sites available.

Ohio's great! I grew up canoeing on the Mohican River. It was pretty popular. There were a few spots where land owners built paddle up snack bars and you could buy chips or hotdogs etc. Ramshackle places. Lots of long lonesome stretches as well. A-frame trees covering the way. Good memories.

Another great video. Thank you. The rented canoe appeared to be an Old Town 169. They're very stable, durable but a bit on the heavy side at about 93 pounds. If you do a boundary waters trip - Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, consider renting an ultralight kevlar/graphite canoe - they're half the weight which is huge when portaging between lakes. They're not as durable long term but OK. If you can rent an older model Mad River Royalex canoe, they're exceptional and mid-weight about 70 pounds.

You guys were made to canoe the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, with all you bushcrafting skills, and I bet Thomas could even catch a fish there :) Its beautiful there. Its crazy up there you pick your route through and may not see another soul your entire trip. Look it up boys, Andrew would be in heaven, When I was there you can collect water right out of the middle of the lake and drink it. It was sooo much fun

I think change is definitely a must for me in my life. That's why I like hiking and camping so much you can visit the same spot 100 times and the plants will be different, the wildlife will be different and the weather as well. So being in the same spot still creates a new experience. Outstanding and scenic video as always.

If I may, If you are seriously considering a long distance paddling expedition, I strongly recommend invest in some instruction from an ACA certified instructor. Paddling, especially in flat or slow moving water, may seem straight forward, but if you are talking about a long distance with a lot of heavy gear without support/help close by, it really helps to be trained in the proper techniques and know what to do in case of emergency. Also, you need to do some research on the proper gear to take with you. For example, those type-II horseshoe-style PFD's you are wearing, don't really cut for a long distance trip. You need a comfortable type III or IV PFD Such as the NRS Ion or the Astral Blue Jacket. Astral also has some more economical models like the Ronny that will work as well. I love what you do with this channel. Stay safe out there and remember people are looking to you for an example so promote safety.

This is probably the most stress free episode of AA.; for a river called Mad, the canoe trip was the complete opposite. I don't blame Robbie at 04:24 after that disaster in Manistee. I would be traumatized as well.

Hey, guys, if you're looking for a good long-distance canoe trip, consider Missouri's spring-fed rivers like the Current River or the Eleven Point. The Eleven Point has the h "wild and scenic" distinction from the NPS (meaning is is mostly undeveloped, very natural), has GREAT on-river camping spots, and is perfect for a 2-day or 3-day float. Also, it isn't hugely traveled the way the Current River can be during the warm seasons. STRONGLY recommend both rivers! :) Please keep making your awesome videos!

Quapaw Canoe Company is based in Clarksdale, MS and offers overnight guided trips on the lower Mississippi River. October would be a great time of year to experience the huge barges loaded with cotton bales. With advanced planning you could schedule the trip during the King Biscuit Festival held across the river in West Helena, Arkansas each October. (cancelled 2020 due to Covid) OMG...food, Food, FOOD and amazing music on multiple stages!
