After viewing this video I am more and more convinced that this is meant to be a sports camera and that I should actually return mine and wait to see what they have in store for us ! I believe a version that is more for event photography is on the horizon, and although I shoot in manual for 99.8 % of my work, I would be very appreciative if when I do go to the Program mode (or the alternative modes) there should be a true new and modern program built in for iphone like exposure ( though with photos that are printable at large sizes)

Yeah, I'm guessing it will. I'm hoping for a video firmware upgrade for the ii that gets rid of motion jpeg for 4k video and gives us some usable formats

This is a great hybrid camera but extremely expensive. Only makes sense if you are a 50/50 stills/video shooter and want the best of the best. Makes more sense to buy an S1H if you are a video shooter or A9/1dx mk2 if you are a stills shooter and buy glass with the other 2-2.5k.

Pentax has DSLR cameras with sensor-shift IBIS. The reason that Canon can't do it is not the mirror. It is that the EF and EF-S mounts are too small in diameter. Canon could make a bigger DSLR mount but I doubt they believe there is enough demand to support it. I only wish Canon made lenses for Pentax.

@@learningcameras How about the R5 vs R6 ii which one will you pick ?
@learningcameras
@learningcameras Год назад
@@papabear7875 The R5 takes the edge for photos and the R6II takes the edge in most cases for video. The R5 does have more video framerates/resolutions, but it overheats easily, has time limits, and 4k60 isn't oversampled so I actually tend to use the R6II more for video and the R5 more for photos

I can never understand why Canon omit some features such as no autofocus in 4k 60fps mode. They always like to hold back on something rather than develop it to the full!
@PeaceLogic
@PeaceLogic 4 года назад
They are not holding back. The amount of processing power it takes to shoot full-frame 4K 30 fps is significant. When you go to 60 fps, the processing power needed doubles. Canons autofocus is currently the best in the world. Again, when you go to 60 fps, the processing power needed doubles for the autofocus as well. When you combine the needed processing power for autofocus and reading the entire full-frame sensor at 60 fps, it's just too much for the camera to handle. You can shoot 60fps 4K using a cropped sensor mode. Part of the challenge is keeping the camera from overheating. The more processing power the camera uses, the hotter it gets. Panasonics new Full frame camera uses an internal fan to cool the chip. However, Panasonic's autofocus is not nearly as good as Canon's. I think Canon would need to add an internal fan in order to do 60 fps 4K with autofocus. The fan would make the camera significantly larger.

@andrewnguyen881

I would have like to have seen a flippy screen (similar to Nikon's, not flip out). Sport shooters like to shoot from low angles, sometimes even laying flat on the ground. A flippy screen would mean they could use live view from a kneeling height, making it safer for the photographer and the players. And, video users could hold the camera up against their body for stabilization and just look down at the screen. My EM1-II was able to to shoot high speed continuous with tracking/CAF while holding my finger down on the LCD screen. I loved it, and I ignore the comments about "real photographers only using the view finder". If you get the shot, you get the shot.

Flippy screens have hinges that can and will break under rugged use. What 1DX pro user has been crying for a flippy screen? lol
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 4 года назад
@@michaelbell75 I would say that flip screens are extremely secure when they are not flipped out. Also, EVERY pro photographer has blindly held up their camera over their heads trying to get a shot especially after sports games or events. Can you imagine throwing it in live view and being able to flip a screen down, tap on the subject you want to focus on, and let the camera shoot 20fps!!! That would be a dream for many pros

Curious what you thought was negative about this one??? Compared to the video I have going live in a few minutes, this was very positive lol! Actually really liked the camera and didn't really mention anything bad that Canon did. I do mention some limitations just in case those matter to you. For example, I shoot weddings and sometimes shoot 120fps but with audio. Not having audio is a big deal for me in case the bride were to say something special I don't have to slow the footage or so I can have natural audio in the background. I would feel like that is valuable info not really a negative review

@@learningcameras There is not a perfect camera yet, nobody has invented it yet; it is just that some cameras will be better for some situations compared to others. If you were the only reviewer of cameras in you tube, and if I would follow only your videos to seek a good influence to buy a new camera, I would never buy it. Camera manufacturers, as any other manufacturers of any good, try to stay competitive with new technologies, but there is always technical and market constraints that will define the blue print and final design of a new technology. After I watch your videos, I always end up with a bitter taste of whatever camera/accessory you are reviewing. There is no clarity on your recommendations/suggestions, because for every + you find a - right away. Your followers are not only professional photographers, there is also a bunch of amateurs like me or advanced photographers, trying to learn something new based upon an experienced opinion. My suggestion to you is that, as other camera reviewers do here in you tube, present a good summarizing table with all the pro's & con's and show a more positive perspective on what is the full potential of the camera and if the con's are realistically unimportant for any level of photographer, make emphasis on that. I know and understand when something is bad is bad and you have to say it, but you need to present a balanced examination. Put yourself in the shoes of the engineers developing these new cameras and ask yourself why they did not do what you were expecting, there must be a good reason for that. If tomorrow you get a brand new Mark IV, you will find right away what are the flaws of the new design and focus on that, rather than emphasizing the FULL POTENTIAL and you need to be more critical of what were the technical barriers that engineers found that impeded them satisfy your expectations. Even the Hubble telescope cameras had technical issues, but look at the bright side of all THE GREAT DISCOVERIES AND AMAZING PHOTOS THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE HUBBLE TELESCOPE. Famous astronomers like Nicolaus Copernicus will be amazed by just looking at them and the advancement of technology.
