@seriousslyseriouss The video was shot with a combination of the 7D with Zeiss 35mm lenses, Mike's 60D, and the JVC HM100. We only had access to Mike's 60D, otherwise we would have used a second 60D instead of the 7D.

Sold! Canon owes you a piece of their advertising budget. Great review.

@LZmiljoona It's the same 18MP sensor as the 7D and 550D (t2i). The major advantages for still are the larger viewfinder, easier access to manual controls, and flip screen. For video, the flip screen and manual audio control set it above the T2i. We're not sure about the K-5, as Pentax has been unable to set us up with a pre-release model.If I do not see one before release, I will test a production unit and post my thoughts on PhotoRepublik.

@eroz18 Both have their strengths, though we haven't been given a production sample of the D7000 yet to test. Based on the prototype, I personally love the handling, shutter noise and viewfinder of the D7000. However, the Canon is quite a bit more flexible if you are looking for a still/video hybrid, as it offers variable frame rates, a (very solid feeling) flip screen, and finer audio adjustments. Both are great cameras though, so I suggest handling them both before making a decision.

@sushilbt I use a class 10 Panasonic card. It lets me shoot to the full 12 minute limit of the 60D.

@dannycurtean This video was mostly shot with a JVC HM100. However, our newer stuff is shot primarily with Zeiss Glass, except extreme wide angle which is usually shot with the Canon 16-35 F2.8. The Zeiss lenses are much easier to manually focus than the Canon, and I find their out of focus rendition (bokeh) to be smoother. The next video I'll be shooting with Panasonic AF100 with Zeiss glass, so it will be interesting to see how the images compare to the 5D. Jordan @ The Camera Store

@ectobuilder The 12 minute limit is based on the FAT32 file structure of memory cards, not overheating. All Canon Video DSLRs will stop HD recording after 12 minutes. However, I do not recommend shooting continuously for longer than hour uninterrupted. Jordan @ The Camera Store

Thanks! Great 'real world' test of the Canon 60D - having a hard time deciding between 60D and 7D. I do plan on doing a bit of video so the flip screen and manual audio control of the 60D is steering me in that direction. I could put the extra $500 dollars I save into an IDC follow focus system.

@Laquun If you want the large sensor camera look and don't mind manually focussing and exposing, I'd go 60D. If you want a great quality camcorder with a more conventional video look, and great audio controls built in, go XA-10. Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

I bought the 60D because of this video and I fel I made the right choice , great phtographer and a good presentation of the camera .

I'm usually much the same. As you said, cameras are a little different. Just because it's an older camera, it doesn't mean the performance and quality has decreased. Not like computers where it would struggle to run in todays environment with more demanding programs. It's actually a good thing that it's been around for a while, there's so much more help available compared to new models where people are still learning about the bugs and issues. Good luck in your purchasing!

Very helpful! Feeling much better now about spending some cash on my first "real" camera. I use my iPhone more for taking pictures than phone calls! :) This will be a very big step up! Thanks again.

Thanks, Dan. You're right. I did do a lot of reading, but it's always hard to buy a camera that's a few years old. I think this is because of computers...always waiting for the new model to come out before buying, lol. I'm an Apple guy, so I'm always thinking like this, but I'm finding it's much different with cameras. I do thank you for getting back to me. I'll get it together and buy one over the long weekend. @xxbluejay21 Depends on what you plan to shoot. The NEX-7 is much more compact, and image quality is quite a bit better. I would love having it as a street shooting camera, or a travel camera. The 60D is a better choice for shooting sports, wildlife and action, as an optical viewfinder still works best for that type of work. Also, the Canon has a more complete system of lenses and accessories. Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

@flipfiasko The 60D is a much more usable body for enthusiasts. It has more external controls (most notably the aperture wheel), a top LCD, and more durable body. The T3i has the same image quality, but is smaller, lighter, and has the video zoom feature which can be nice for extreme telephoto. Jordan @ The Camera Store

omfg AN ACTUAL PHOTOGRAPHER THAT USES ALL FEATURES

@CYNFELYN23 The Canon 15-85 is the only game in town for a walkaround with a substantial wide angle. There's a reason full frame zooms often start around 24mm, it's very useful. If the wide angle isn't as important as low light ability, the new Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4 is an absolute steal for the price. You'll much better light gathering ability.

Is this still a great camera in 2012? Better than the Canon T2i & T3i? Sorry, rookie getting ready to spend a lot of cash! Also, should I buy the lens that is offered with it, or just the body? Thanks for any advice? Thank you. Tim

Hey..You guys ROCK! So glad I found this video and Camera Stores Page! Enough of the clinical lab reviews with all the stats and tech stuff. Cameras need to be taken out and used in REAL situations like this to show how they perform. Looks like the 60D can handle some extreme handling there. That LCD does open up a whole range of possibilities for photos and video. Decisions... Decisions :)

I want this camera so bad!

Hi, I have recently brought a 60d. When i am trying to shoot full HD or HD the video stopped after few second atomatically. I am using SDHC card class 4, speed 15 MB/s. I want to know which card should i use for unintrupted HD video shooting. Thanks

Drew, how do you find the reliability of the 60D? Namely the overheating? Most DSLR's overheat after 12 minutes of continuous video shooting, does the 60D do that as much?

@ectobuilder Yes I am aware that it does stop recording after 12 minutes, however there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest that all Canon DSLR's other than the 60D suffer from overheating. The average time seems to be between 12 to 20minutes, some lucky ones take an hour. This is evidenced by the fact that the overheating icon flashes.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick response. I want to start film some short films and just some casual stuff around city etc... I do not know whether to go for the 600d or the 60d. Im heading towards the the 60d because of the bigger battery, better build and a couple of other features. I will be studying film at university so if any one could share there opinions it would really help.

The only thing I can say, is that I use the top LCD on my 60D ALOT. And the 650d/t4i does not have one.
