Just digging into my new Canon EOS D70 and this video on WIFI setup was extremely helpful. Not only walked me through connecting camera to iPhone, but helped me understand important limitations. e.g. When wifi is set to on on camera, you lose ability to video. And u can move images but not videos via WIFI. Video screenshots, yes. Videos themselves, no. Thanks for an awesome tutorial Omar!

Advait Thakur They've probably updated the app since I filmed this and it probably offers the ability to record video. Check out the app in the App Store and see the details.

Thanks for the clear instructions! I have a older EOS 70d, I used to be able to connect it to my iPhone easily . I haven’t used my camera for a while and now I can’t connect them anymore ! Watched your video realizing that my camera setting gives me a different screen at this step shown at the Connection Method. My camera screen doesn’t show the choices of camera access point mode or infrastructure mode. Is the software of my camera too old ? And how can o upgrade the camera software? Thanks !

This video is 9 years old so there's a greater likely hood that the software featured in the video is out of date and the newer software looks different.

Omar good to see this as I have a new 70D. The problem I am having is wifi connection to a smart TV . In my case Sony Bravia. I can get the connection but not the step to show the pictures. Some part of the process I have missed. So if you do another video can it be EOS 70D to a smart TV using Wifi?

Wait the 80D doesnt disable the WiFi movie mode, does it? I dont recall it doing that with the Canon Camera Connect app... but then again this video was made in 2013 and lots has changed since then.

1. No 2. Not sure about range, probably as far as 100 ft 3. I believe they have an android app now also, but it also works with a computer with the included software

Am I able to transfer large numbers of photos from the Canon to my iPhone or computer through the wifi function? If I am taking photos with the camera and have my iPhone with me, will the photos automatically be transferred into the iPhone photos?

great video, connecting it to my iPhone was easy! I'm trying to connect the 70D to my Mac, and I am having no luck. the wi-fi instruction manual starts with "These instructions are continued from chapter 5"... great, chapter 5 of what? the main manual says it "does not have the wi-fi function explained in this manual".

***** unfortunately, no. Sorry. I gave up and deleted the software. must be a different team working on the Mac (if you can call it that) software, because the phone is pretty easy to set up!

Hi Omar. Found this very helpful. I can use the EOS Utility to shoot remotely, and the usb connection is fine. I can connect to my I phone using the Eos App as your video shows. However what I am having trouble with is connection my EOS70D to my lap top using the new EOS Utility v2. It just won't connect to my hub ( pressing WPS is ok) and therefore isn't recognised by my laptop via wi-fi, so never pairs. Are you able to help or point me in the right direction ?

Have you tried both methods of connecting your laptop and camera to the same wifi network and also connecting your laptop to the camera as a wifi hotspot like the app does?

Are you using the touch screen on the iPad to tap on the spot that you want it to focus on. I believe it treats the iPad screen the same as it would on the 70D touch screen with the tap focus.

The camera comes with a disc that installs EOS utility which is the remote.

+amora beauty there's no "best settings" for every situation. But if you can help it, keep your ISO setting as low as possible. The higher that number is, the more grainy your images will appear, especially the dark areas.

you might have an option enabled in the settings that is adding another image like an HDR images to your camera roll for you to pick from. I would scroll through the menu settings on the camera and see if you spot anything like that

I believe you can setup multiple phones, but only one can control it at a time. But if you have a team of people using the camera, you should be able to set them up so you can quickly switch between phones for controlling it.

It's not intuitive, but select "Exit" from the settings review menu to "disconnect" WiFi. Then you can reconfigure it. During that process it will show you its preselected auth token if you use one.
