I chose the M6ii and couldn't be more thrilled with it. It's truly a beast of a camera. My girlfriend got the M50 soon after and wow, another monster! For their respective price ranges, they are really amazing. But i gotta say, the M200 looks good too as an interchangeable lens option in a point-and-shoot form factor. With the pancake lens it's certainly way more pocketable than the other two. Definitely worthy as a secondary cam, probably more for stills than video, especially if you're a content creator with the need for a mic jack. But i'd easily recommend it for more casual users who are starting to get into photo/video as an introductory cam or for family members who want a simple cam with great quality.
This video is helpful to me as well. I know many that use it as a vlog camera and are very happy with it. This video is awesome. Going to subscribe now…
I just want to say thank you for this because you are one of the only channels that have a breakdown and comparison of the M200 vs ANYTHING. I mostly am considering getting an m6 or m200 as a 2nd camera since I already have an m50. Thank you for this.
Dang! What a GREAT video! Thanks for making it SO efficient--and bypassing all the extraneous noise, trance-beat soundtrack, mega-hype, etc. Just an informative, thorough (without going too complex), well-edited, easy to follow instruction/guide.... like it ought to be. WELL DONE! (Now I know, 200 for me. Thanks!)
Hyun Ralph Jeong the M50 which I have researching info about it since a few weeks ago. Your video convinced me 100% (and i’ve watched maaaany many videos about it haha) hug!
Hello I like your presentation I think you laid it out on the line and you did a great job on the interview on each camera I subscribed to your post you have a lot a lot of knowledge on cameras thank you for sharing
Hi Hyun. I d like make video of my house restoration. I already have a canon t5, but I don’t like the Auto focus. I m not professional. Which camera do you suggest me, also other brand. Thx in advance
Hi, if you want to stay with Canon, the M50 is probably the safest option. If you want to shoot 4K, you should either get the M6 mark ii or the 90D but they are more expensive. For other brands, I’d recommend Sony a6400.
So what did you do to increase the battery usage on these cameras? Like really, what did you do? I got 1017 photos out of my M6 Mark II before having to charge it once. I turn it off between photos. I don't have it on continuously.
Why thank a fantasy figure for new videos on youtube, rather than the actual video content creator which created the video? I will never understand american's and their need to thank a fantasy figure for the acts of humans.
This video was perfect for me, I was struggling to decide between these three but leaning towards the M50, so glad I found this video as it's made me more confident that the M50 is a good choice! Thank you
We've used the original mark i EOS m50 for a few years and love it. It's been an incredibly robust camera! Today it began glitching out on us and it was decision time for a replacement before it completely died on us and left our channels in the dark. I saw the m200 and your video was the only one I needed to watch to tell me everything I needed to know! Just ordered an m50 Mark ii from your amazon affiliate link. I hope they give you the kickback! I appreciate your awesomely informative and educational video! -Sam
I would have got the M50 but it doesn't offer clean HDMI out for live streaming. Picked up the M200 but not thinking I might just make the jump to the M6 Mark ii.
Peak Time Racing now you can fet clean signal with any of these cameras with this app: www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/self-help-center/eos-webcam-utility/
Incredible that I've had my M50 for two years now, and it's still hard to beat!… I just love this camera, and wonder what it would take for me to upgrade it!… Good luck with that one Canon.
Great video!!I just picked up the M 200. I love the humble size of it. Not to mention the price was great. But I did slap the Sigma 18 to 35 lens on it with the viltrox adapter. It takes awesome photos. I’m comming from a t3i. I love the touch screen an all. Thanks again.
There isn’t really a point to buy the M200 if the M50 is the same price. They didn’t really think that through 😂. Unless you want to vlog, then the M200 is a better buy probably.
M50 is still better for vlogging. You can flip the viewfinder up and see what you're recording, and there is no mic input on the M200. M200 is only the best for vloggers who happen to know nothing about tech and want the simplest camera with good quality.
One huge factor that wasn't mentioned, however is that the M200 has clean HDMI and the M50 does not. mic jack vs. clean HDMI? I'd rather have the clean HDMI.
Nice video. I just found an M200 for $350 so went with that as couldn’t find an M50 for under $500. Allowed me to grab a nice secondary lens with the money saved and really not missing any features I’d need (although I imagine I might wish I had more physical buttons after a short while)
Hello ..I have m50 and I do really enjoy it .its not first camera for me but I love it because it can cover more focus in the frame. Thank you for your video and I wish you good luck.
Helpful vid. Pretty stuck between the M200 and M50. I've used DSLRs before but want something a bit more modern and compact. Still kinda stuck but leaning towards the M50 to have a little more control that's easy to access
Exactly the video comparison I was looking for. Packed with tons of important details (even tho I feel that the M200 needed more illustrative shots and photos) but very short and well paced. Thanks!!
I think the firmware for the 24p for the M6ii has been out for a few weeks now. I had the M100 before my M6ii and I really enjoyed it. The M200 is nearly identical to the M100 but is the successor/next generation product. The really nice thing about the M100/M200 form factor is that it makes a great travel camera. Small, lightweight, and with the 22mm, can fit your jacket pocket. The M100/M200 are really entry-level cameras. If you are looking for a basic camera that can take video and photos, and you don't want to spend money a lot of money... this is a great place to start. If you are traveling and you want to keep your backpack light, this is the perfect option! The M200 was released November last year. Amazon and several others were selling the M100 + 2 lens (15-45mm and 55-200mm) kit for $450-$500. If you wanted to upgrade the body later, you are not taking a huge financial hit.
Always loved the M50, I will never sell mine, but for livestreams or video through a camlink, the m200 is the better option. Clean Auto Focus in the clean HDMI mode is huge. I really with the m50 had this. M200 now a days can be had for around 450!
I'm really wondering what has happened to the M5 mkII - some people say that the M6 mkII is a replacement for both the M5 and M6 but Canon is not saying either way. Ralph do you have any inside info on this? 😊
Rumour mill only but it looks reasonable, there are two new M lines in the pipeline orginally slated for later this year but may be delayed due to the Coronavirus situation until next. Looks like an upgraded M50 MkII and a higher quality M5 replacement although not an M5 MkII as such ( ? ), have a look on Canon Rumours etc.
In my country there is M100 in sale still. With the kit lens it's the equivalent of $320 with 2 years warranty. Since the 4k in M200 is a gimmick, that's the one I would buy.
My first camera was an M100 and it is an awesome value camera. It might not perform as well as some of the offerings, but if you are just using it for personal photos and videos... hard to go wrong. Value town!
In 120fps, you only loose “Servo” auto focus. You will still have “one shot” auto focus, which is easier to use than trying to hit focus manually. Especially on the M6ii where you can press the back focus button to get “one shot” focus as your shooting, where as the M50 you’ll have to half press shutter to get same effect.
Having a compact camera is very useful especially if you're out casually and want to take photos or videos or even when travelling. Carrying my 80D got not fun quickly..... Problem is with the price I guess... For a 2nd camera it's a hefty price tag. Amazon Canada lists m6ii with 15-45mm and EVF for $1200, and 18-150mm and EVF for $1450. M200 is for $700.
You did a fantastic job at preserving the details in the highlights, mid-tones, and shadows which is amazing to see since some people end up crushing the shadows! This video also helped me out to make a good decision on what camera to get!
Apr 29 2020 I purchased the Canon EOS M100 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 2 lens set (15-45mm) & (55-200mm) Lens Kits Black Brand new for $416 on EBay, then I sold the long lens separately for $200 because I didn’t need it. I believe it was a great purchase. Always keep an eye on eBay deals.
Wow I really love your presentation you did such a great job explaining these cameras yeah the M50 I like because it has the viewfinder and you know sometimes when you're shooting outside that viewfinder could come in handy I'm not going to spend 200 extra dollars for a viewfinder to put on the m200 anyway thank you thank you very much for sharing this video God bless you brother
Hello, I am a happy owner of a Canon R5, but two weeks ago I bought a canon m100 for 300 dollars. I did it mainly to do Street photography and I am frankly happy. Thanks for the video.
Query! Hi, i am regular viewer of your channel and higly praise the content and your charater. My worry is on shooting potraits of my kid in vertical mode with m200. I want to use it as my 2nd camera when with my family. Thanks.
@@Saad-gy2gf the m6 is an amazing camera.. It hasn't let me down you. It's uncomfortable for me to vlog with, I'm use to using the Canon G7X M2.. But I feel I'll get use to it..
i just take m50 for 460 euro 2 days ago. i read good about this canon, has all i need. my first real cam. light, flip screen, good autofocus i can put rode mic, i'm not a pro. if i take an more expensive, more great than m50 i will need some experience to use it on full capacity. i hope to a good choice. p.s. was a gift. thanks piggy :)
Great video - one thing worth mentioning, is that the m50 does not have clean hdmi with autofocus, and is therefore not a good option for those who plan on livestreaming. I found this out afterwards, and ended up returning the m50 and got an m6 ii
I see, thanks for the update! i'd be interested to see how the user experience is. From what i've found, it looks like it is a USB 2.0 connection, rather than hdmi capture card. I dont have my m50 anymore, so if you end up testing the streaming experience with the app, i'd love to hear about it - specifically whether the autofocus works, and if the image quality is comparable to a typical hdmi to usb 3.0 capture card. Appreciate the responses, and love the videos! Keep em coming
could this cage for the m50 work with the m200? is the bottom hole center the same and the cage allow for better grip? Baugger Camera Cage,Camera Cage Aluminum Alloy Video Cage Replacement for M5 M50 M50II Mirrorless Camera with Cold Shoe Mount 1/4 Inch & 3/8 Inch Screw Holes
@@ethanleung3296 it's fine up to like 3200 -6400 ISO, but the latter the absolute highest i'd go. You deffinitely see the difference from a FF sensor, but it's not really bad in any way, but still yeah there are othee camera's that handle it better, not just FF camera's either for that matter.
Anybody who wants a lightweight camera the choice is obvious: M200. The quality is acceptable and easy to carry around even with the basic flip up viewer. Or none of these. The Sony Alpha A6100 with similar size is a better deal for comparison, Many of these low-end cameras come with a basic lens. The lens that usually comes with the Sony is a 16-50mm F3.5 - 5.6. The basic lens that comes with the Canon is a 14-45mm F3.5 - 6.3. The zoom range is similar but the aperture is off by half a stop when zooming in. The Sony lens you have a 5.6 aperture but the Canon is a 6.3 meaning the Sony has a better lens. Talking about lenses if you want better ones for the Canon you need a EF-M to EF adapter bought separately to fit bigger lenses. Otherwise you're stuck with only EF-M lenses and there are not many. If you buy a Sony with a G-mount, you can put on more lenses without an adapter.
Great video! First time in your channel. I would like to buy the M200. If you allow me one question please. When you use the camera in OBS for a zoom call, does it shuts down after 30 min or just keep running? If so, for how long? Does the screen stay active? Thanks in advance and sorry for my English; i'm still learning Have a Productive and Healthy day!
Really helpful guide. Since there is hardly any difference in picture quality of M200 and M50, I went with M200. I will spend that extra money of Sigma 16mm prime lense. I think that would give me best bang for buck. Really appreciate your review.
very useful comparison :) thanks for uploading! I recently found Canon Live Chat very useful for some custom controls in the camera menu on older models but that's different topic all together.
@@jleib I did yes, I don't know much about photography and I mostly keep it in the auto setting but I find it works really well. Photos look way better than on my phone, I take a lot of 1080p video and those look good as well. Transferring the photos / videos to my phone over Bluetooth / WiFi is pretty simple too.
Very interesting seeing the size comparison between the M200 and the GR III. The tilt screen, APSC sensor and shutter button in just about the right place to trigger with your thumb does sound very good for street photography. I guess it's pretty much just missing snap focus modes, internal ND, IBIS, and uncropped 4k. I have an M6 v1, which is great up to ISO 1600, has DPAF in 1080 up to 60p, and works nicely with a focal reducer and EF lenses-if you don't need 4K, it is probably the best bargain in the EOS M lineup.
I find when people try and compare more than 2 camera at a time it gets messy, this was so easy t understand and follow. I'm binging your videos. thank you so much for being clear, concise and easy to understand
I want to get a mirrorless for use with streaming and video content, can the M200 be used as a webcam? I just find the picture is clearer and crisper than using a traditional webcam (I have the Razer Kiyo Pro) but it doesnt look as good and with the latest firmware update it drop FPS real bad.
Basically all the canon bodies, dslrs or mirrorless, the exact same sensor. You'll get more megapixels, or a better focusing system (if it doesn't have dual pixel its not even worth buying). Noise level is almost identical, I tested the 600d, m, m10, m50 with the same lens, same light and settings, it's 99% identical. Think of what you'll use it for, the image quality will be the same
omg!! this save me..took me 2 weeks to decide which one and I keep watching this and made me convinced to go with m6..Mahalo nui loa fam!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 i went with m6 just becAuse im not a beginner anymore..Lol..m6 is like a combination of m50 and 200..it has a little bit of everything ...
