I've been looking into the M50 to stream some events later this year. This video has been very helpful in showing me the best way to live stream with it.
Dude, great video! You covered exactly the questions and solutions I've been looking for for a while now, but haven't been able to find. Keep up the great work!
Quick questions on the sparko cam and capture card option. You have both hdmi and usb connected to camera and pc? And have sparko cam running in the back(for no auto shut off) and capture card for the video in obs correct?
@@Blasten I was simply trying to get that great look with the m50. I had my setting in the camera all wrong so even when I followed your steps it did look good at all. But I finally got them figured out. I’m a new streamer still learning.
Hey, I see you replying to comments. I bought all the stuff to do this, but for some reason when I attempt to use the elgato it simply doesn't work. It works with a direct connection. Please help I don't want to have wasted money on this!!!
Thank you for the video!!! Also would you happen to know why my m50 isn't showing up in the camera drop list on Sparkocam but it's showing under webcam? :(
Hello, please forgive my ignorance as I'm new. I purchased the capture card you recommended. Do I use the capture card , OBS, and Sparkocam together to stream?
This has helped a newbie like me who just purchased an m50 for live streaming. The link is broken to the $25 hdmi video capture card with audio and I couldn't see the brand when you showed the box. Would you please let me know the brand? Thanks!
Hi, very usefull video. I would ask you which kind of auto-focus mode did you used in with the m50 in this video, and which kind of video quality is 1080p al 24fps? Thank you
Sparkocam works for windows only. I have the AJA U-TAP HDMI capture card, and I have the eos ultily app on my iMac. I can connect it but my question is, if I connect it straight with the hdmi would it last more than 30 mins? If not is there another program I can use on Mac so it can last more than 30 min? Thanks in advance
Hey bro, how would I use my external elgato hd60s with my Canon m50. Like what to plug where? As far as input and output from camera to elgato and elgato to pc
I’m currently using a usb cord and eos webcam utility for zoom calls. The annoying issues are it freezes and sometimes or most of the time, disconnects. So now, I just placed my order of that same capture card and micro hdmi for my eos m50. After watching this, I felt kind of sad about losing the autofocus tho I don’t really move when in zoom. But I hope and pray that the capture card solves my freezing zoom video issues. 🙏🏻💪🏻 Thanks for this btw. Stay safe!
Do I need to run Sparkocam only in my Background? Or do I need to choose SparkoCam as Device in OBS? Because I want to use E50 + AverMedia LiveGamer Duo + SparkoCam.
Does sprakocam still have a 25 min refresh when using a capture card? I noticed when I use my cam link my m50 goes to a webcam. Also would I buy the canon product link or a different one when I plan on using my capture card?
I don't quite get it the portion where you mention with capture card + spakrocam. I have camlink and m50 but can't figure out how to use it with cclean hdmi and autofocus. Would it be possible to use the capture card+ the sparkocam to remove the box in my face if I am running autofocus?
Sparkocam cam plus capture card only keeps the camera on longer than 30 minutes. You get no autofocus but are able to get clean hdmi if you press “info” button until everything is off. But again, you’ll need to be in manual focus mode. If you need autofocus, you need to use sparkocam by itself with the usb cable only and select the camera source to be sparcocam, not m50.
@@Blasten Thanks I am trying to set it up now. Thanks makes more sense now. I am using a Ef- 22mm macro, I'm not sure what it means but hopefully it works.
@@Blasten I just got a elgato 4k camlink which I will connect with hdmi for the better quality. And I have a USB to connect to webcam utility. So is this setup ok?
@@ChimneyCakes yes it should, as long as you put the camlink as the source in your streaming software. That is the same way i do my live streams but with sparkocam since I was running into issues with utility
@@Blasten when I pick camlink in obs nothing shows up if I also have the USB plugged in. It will only show a picture if I unplug the USB. So I guess I have to use sparkocam as well ((
@@Blasten new cable fixed it. What solution are you currently using? I tried HDMI capture card and it looks all good but I miss having auto-focus. I don't mind paying some money, so I was looking at EOS Webcam Utility premium version (Free has got terribly low resolution, can't do Full HD) or Sparkocam. If you have any advice, please let me know. thank you.
@@Blasten yeah, it has got clean HDMI output. In my case I just have my Mark 1 laying around home doing nothing. I'm not much of a photographer and with modern top-shelf phones I can get decent pictures anyway. Kinda makes no sense to upgrade to Mark II just to use it for recording talking head videos. Thanks for your video and feedback.
Man! Considering that I have 3 cameras (Canon M50), connect via HDMI to a Switcher (Atem Mini), how can I use the SparkoCam for all these cameras at the same time?
Hi, bro, love your video.... Canon dslr has 30 miniute recording limit.... If I want to record 3 hours long podcast with canon dslr using canon utility software..... Then in the computer can i full screen the video in the utilty software with out any info in the screen and record it in obs???.... So a 3 or hour long podcast can be recorded?????
Wazzup, i used canon m50 2 and camlink for streaming, but there is a delay of 0.5 seconds in terms of video in the OBS. How could i fix it? I already used a lower resolution
i use this ball head amzn.to/3b0zD9p, and I use the stand amzn.to/3pMpxNh amd its attached to the end of my VESA monitor stand, but if you dont have the vesa arm mount, you need this amzn.to/3pOwZb3
@@Blasten oh ok. I know you mentioned in another comment thread that you haven't tried it yourself, but do you think it'd be possible to do the same with Mac using CameraLive/CamTwist
Great video. i kinda have an issue my usb connection it gives me just the storage. sparkocam detects my camera but i dnt get any camera settings and No live view on my camera and PC. i tried with both 60D and 6D cameras.......please help am kinda new
How did you upload the video of webcam utility and sparkocam in 1080p? The M50 using these apps only records in 570p, did you upscale it? Can you get 570 to 1080 p in post production?
Hey @Blasten, two questions for you after watching your awesome video. 1. Have you tried this setup with MacOSX? I have ordered the exact equipment you have (Sigma 16mm 1.4, CamLink4K, have an EOS M50, with al the cables). SInce Sparkocam doesn't exist for the Mac, I was going to use the EOS Utility (to keep the camera on) and OBS or any other tool without the autofocus. I heard ecamm live could be used in a similar way with the combo of eCamm via USB and HDMI via the CamLink 4K. 2. Does the RodeMic have its sound recognized through USB and/or the HDMI feed? I have a 3.5mm mic and a USB one on hand in case it doesn't. Thanks so much!
Hello James, 1. I have not used this setup with a canon yet but I have used it with a sony a6000. I believe you can use an app called Camera Live bit.ly/CameraLiveApp and also CamTwist : bit.ly/CamTwistStudio. But these arent anything Ive tested myself. 2. I have ran sound out from the camera its self but i choose to go through the usb. My audio routing is as followed. - Mic, XLR cable, go xlr, usb to computer. If you get a Usb mic, just plug it directly to the computer.
my friend , i used the eos utility with sl1 canon camera in obs but i m, not getting full hd quality and have a black side bars . how did you achieved that crisp look @14:16 thanks for all the help
Thanks a lot for the video I have Atem mini capture card when I connect I see all the features of the camera like time and battery everything How I can get rid off those ?im using hdmi
I loved your video, I have a question, I have the canon 80d and when I use obs and eos webcam the camera turns off with error 70 after a few minutes, I turn it off and turn it on and it works again but only for a few more minutes and the camara stops, this only happens when I use the eos webcam because when I record or take videos I never get an error. Do you know what the problem can be?
so i have a problem where, when i'm using capture and sparko cam, i can only see sparko cam, and when i use the capture card, all i see it a laptop screen with a grey background as if i was just doing file transfers
Thanks for the video, when using the EOS utility, can you adjust the video settings on the camera while the feed is coming into OBS live? Just curious if you can adjust settings physically on the camera. Great video!
if you havent gotten the camera yet, get the mark ii m50 as it comes with clean hdmi, if you get the mark 1, you turn off autofocus and then press info until everything on the screen removes
@@Blasten hey. Thanks for the response. I have it working!! Thank you so much for your video, I got it and it’s working well. It lasted 3 hours on battery. No overheating at all. I have it in manual. I’ve used Sparko to set aperture, shutter speed etc. I single point auto focused and then switch to MF. Info off. I do need a SD card in the camera otherwise it gives an error. Now I just need to buy a dummy battery and Sparko. I’ll probably Sparko, lighting, dummy battery then speed booster. Your M50 content pretty much convinced me to get this body. Thank you :) my on stream quality is absolutely amazing now. Thank you thank you thank you.
Yes I did. Certain filters I used which I do not use any more more. I was devolving my own style. You can view my latest two video to see a cleaner image. I still use the m50 but mark ii versin.
Do it. I have the mark ii now and it’s great. Just make sure if you do decide to get that, turn clean hdmi off while doing recordings. it will limit some controls but just turn it back on when needing to livestream. Also I use the sigma 16 mm lens. I should have a link in description
Great video it did help me a lot! I Have some issue when I'm using an elgato camlink and EOS utility(for unlimited recording/streaming time) it does a weird bug... like a got ping with my PC (my PC has 1 seconde of latency when i'm moving my mouse or writing anything online... same for gaming) Do you have any idea to solve this problem?
@@Blasten well f*ck I can't find any solution ^^ If I find one I'll let you know bro so you'd be able to answer the issue if someoney as the same.... (btw this only appears when I'm using EOS utility) kinda weird...
Hey, man - thanks for the video. I cannot for the life of me get audio from my M50 + rode mic through either usb or camlink HDMI. Not in Camlink 4k capture or OBS. How did you get it to work? In OBS on the Camlink I can select my Camlink 4K as an audio source, turn on the monitoring for that in settings, but no audio levels have ever come through.
I have exactly the same setup as yours. Capture card + M50 in Video Mode, MF. Every once in a while (3 minutes) the camera displays a message: "Viewfinder inactive, press any button to reactivate". Do you have any idea how to get rid of this? It's a camera thing, because it comes with the HDMI video signal.
go to the wrench icon in settings, go to tab #4, click display settings, set display setting to manual, and manual display as screen. let me know if that fixes it!
EOSweb utility is just a driver. I use the other the remote utility control to change image settings and I find quite good and I comes into OBS through EOS. I found out yesterday that OBS and EOS started to crash, to the point that I had to remove EOS driver to be able to reopen OBS again. The image from the m50 through EOSweb keeps on and off in constant intervals. I’ll keep working on it today . :/
@@Blasten hey, thank you for taking the time to respond! I finally ended up using my computer last night but I’m still lost on how to integrate the gameplay from console with the live feed from my camera. Do I need to connect my xbox to the computer? Or the camera? All of the videos I watch suggested the Camlink 4k so that’s what I bought. Did I make a mistake? Should I buy the HD 60S instead? Thank you again for helping me!
Just commenting so I can remember to come back. The utility has such shit quality last I tried so hopefully this videos shows to raise it from 570p to actual 1080. Also when I tried the 4k camlink the camera goes to sleep or shuts off after 30 min continuous. Does this video help bypass either of those?
@@Blasten Perfect thanks. I have the 4k camlink and have no issues with paying a 1 year fee for sparko. Since I can make adjustments on the interface, I'll prob go with the 4k camlink and sparko option. I have a 1080 webcam that would be fine for streaming, but I don't wan to keep switching between webcam and camera. So I figured I would record everything in 4k and it can compress for whatever platform it needs to from there
@@Blasten It is super complicated. There is a way, but you don't get HD (1080) which is useless for me. The way is to use the canon ultility app. However, SparkoCam said they were developing a MAC version, so I guess I have to wait for that. My MAC just runs faster than my Windows 10, which is why I would love to have a tool to stream and autofocus in HD on my Canon M50 without buying a new camera. Otherwise, I will just cough up the money on the Sony EV-10 since it supports it straight from the box.
@@Blasten So I just set up my M50 using the EOS/USB method and the highest resolution it'll let me use in OBS is 1024x576. I get the 60FPS, but not even 720p. The camera itself is set to 1080p/60FPS. Is there any way to fix that or is that just the current limitation of the USB in the EOS software?
My experience: - Tried EOS webcam utility pro, can't buy it since I'm not in the UK or US. - Canon webcam utility with usb to OBS gives me low resolution. I have to stretch the output in OBS. - M50 Mark I doesn't have a clean HDMI output so capture card won't work. - In this video he says that there's no auto focus option with capture card. My decision - I'll buy SparkoCam to get 1080p output with auto focus - I'll use OBS for recording, sending the SparkoCam's 1080p output to the OBS. I would like to hear your comments about this decision before I buy it. Thanks in advance everyone.
Great video, been using this method. But I really miss autofocus..sometimes I switch to Sparkocam just so I get that autofocus back even though I have camlink plugged in. May switch to Sony for main cam. Nice work!
I just want to know all your settings to get this crisp quality ....from color grading to camera settings this is probably one of the best video quality I’ve seen using a canon m50...also what lens are you using...you should make a video dammit lol i have a Mac so no sparkocam
Yes because the camera does not have clean hdmi or autofocus, and shuts off after 30 minutes. Using the usb and sparko cam allows clean hdmi, unlimited recording, and autofocus. If you want to do the way I do, I use m50 as source, manual focused turned on, press the info button until screen has no hdmi information, and run sparko cam in the background so it doesn’t shut off in 30 minutes.
@@Blasten So I tried doing Manuel focus and I can't nail it. I have to be super close in order for it to not be blurry. Any tips on getting Manuel focus down?? Also, do I need spark cam if I have the canon app... I read that it was supposed to disable the auto shutoff because it gets a consistent signal... I may be wrong, any tips would be appreciated. Also, I am trying to live stream a Prezi video and my new Mac book keeps overheating. Prezi uses a lot of battery power and am wondering if the computer overheating is due to that or the camera putting strain on my Mac book? Have you had any experiences like this? Thanks
My canon m50 doesn't show up on the top "canon camera" tab in Sparkocam. I have it plugged in with a capture card and power is on. Cant figure out why it wont show up. I don't want to buy sparkocam until I know it will show up bc other youtubers are showing it without buying it. Any one have an idea why?
@@Blasten even with the usb and hdmi i use a camlink and the option still isnt there for me on the canon section on sparkocam only in the webcam section
what I did with some sonys that were overheating was make sure the led/lcd screen is flipped away from the camera and also run a dummy battery power adapter. I honestly haven't touched a Nikon before.
Good video and some very helpful info. Am just starting to finally use my M50 for my Live Streams. Need to get the hang of it. But love it for my weekly videos 😊👍🏻 Good work, would say add some more B roll and maybe edit a few bits. But on whole good video. Keep pushing your videos 👍🏻😊🎬
The cheapest & easiest solution for MacOS barely anyone knows about: Micro USB cable + Cascable Pro Webcam app. I paid less than 40 Euros for the app and I have reliable Full HD 30fps streaming (it’s much better resolution than the free Canon EOS webcam beta app)
So for nonstreaming video recordings, I have my boom mic plugged straight into my M50. IF I would like to stream using Cascable, does the app allow you to use an external Boom Mic to capture audio?
@@safetyhomeloans950 that’s a great question. I’ve never tried that - though I don’t think it would work. We plug our boom mic direct to the laptop when steaming.
@@Blasten Because none of the many guides mention that EOS Utility blocks the video stream. Needless to say after hours of trying to make it work I was angry. But the point remains, this should be a lot simpler in 2022
@@user-be1it9zi8v I was pretty clear. Use capture card with hdmi AND usb with sparkocam running in background. Hdmi will be your video source. If you’re using eos app, all you need is a usb cable ONLY to send feed through USB
@@Blasten Yeah that doesn't work if the EOS utility is running, which it does automatically when you plug in the camera, you have to close it down from the systray. But again, several cables and multiple pieces of third party software shouldn't be require to feed video into a PC
