Whenever I start a new job (warehousing), I tend to make cheat sheets for everything from layout and inventory location, to specific policies and procedures each place adheres to. I’m currently getting back into videography after a 15 year hiatus and have been putting together cheat sheets (though longer, so a “cheat journal”)… including some of my old notes, favorite transitions, crawls, post production settings, etc, but also how to use my new M50 Mk2. Basically, I made quick reference for each situation I would be using it for: - Astrophotography (Milky Way) stills - Astrophotography star trails (time lapse) - Indoor bright lighting - Indoor DARK (low light) RU-vid studio - Outdoor full sun - Outdoor overcast - Motion blur water, clouds, cars (time lapse) Basically, if I walk into one of those situations, I want to be able to go to the tab in my journal and say, “ok… it’s sunny out, I’m going to want put my ND filter on and use this this and this settings” and just GET TO WORK. It was hard finding good consistent information, with easy step by step procedures until I found you. I kid you not, you’ve knocked out almost all of my quick references so far. So, long story short, I really appreciate all of this. Great work, kudos to you for compiling all of this useful information and all the work that went into it!

Tell you what, I actually have some quick questions for you if you have the time… This journal / quick reference of mine is great for setting up for planned scenes (photo and video); I can simply thumb to the tab of, let’s say, a dim light interior shot, read what’s on the page and then just set my camera up and be ready to roll. But… what if I need to act fast? 1) Does the camera return to default, auto or a baseline setting, or does it stay in whatever mode / settings I had it in prior to turning it off? 2) If so, what would do in the following scenario: Your camera is set up for a low light interior video, but the following day you see an eagle sitting on a fence. You race for your camera bag, grab it and run outside. What do you do to quickly get the camera up and taking that photo or video without disastrously missing the shot? Honorable mention: I have everything completed in my journal (indoor low light, indoor normal, astrophotography, star trails, motion blur, etc) but I don’t have specifics for “full sun” and my “overcast” section could use some more suggestions. I’m talking shutter, aperture and ISO. Any go-to quick settings you use on the fly? Thanks for any help!

Thank you! And no, it does not save individual photos. You'll have to do a screen capture on your computer.

Can you use this feature to record time lapse of aurora? Thanks for the awesome video! I’ve learned everything about my M50 by watching you!
@attrell
@attrell 2 года назад
No unfortunetly the slowest shutter speed you can use it 1/30th. This means night shots won't work.

So the m50 cannot do long exposure timelapse for star movment?
@attrell

This MIGHT work but I never tried it. It is an app for your phone. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.booman.intervalometer&hl=en_CA&gl=US&pli=1

Can it do timelapse at night...for astrophotography shots...?
@attrell

No sorry, slowest shutter speed this camera will do in timelapse is 1/30th a second.

We should leave "af on" while taking video timelapse right? I took milky way timelapse from after Sunset to milky way came up and it was all blurred >
@attrell
@attrell Год назад
Yes Manual focus only
@chadwick1466
@chadwick1466 Год назад
If I use Manual option, what does the auto exposure do?
@attrell
@attrell Год назад
Nothing, it becomes a toggle switch between aperture and shutter speed.

Will this mode be able to do stars at night in the mountains. I think I heard you say it doesn't work well at night?

I have an m50 mark ii. Is there any option doing longer time lapse video (like 1-2 hours one)? If so how? (Also got a dummy battery so charging shouldn't be a problem.) I would like to shoot neither fast or slow motions but normal life stuff like drawing or so. (With the best quality possible.)
@attrell
@attrell Год назад
I never used this, but check this out 'Intervalometer for Canon" on the app store
@wulfpv
@wulfpv 2 года назад
So you can't charge the camera while its in timelapse mode? So I can't do like a week long timelapse?
@attrell
@attrell 2 года назад
That is correct. You will need a camera with more advanced options, or you can see if an external intervalometer exists for this camera. Otherwise you will have to do each photo manually.
@paiged186
@paiged186 2 года назад
There is no intervalometer for the m50 mark ll - no slot to plug it into...
@Artur-cm1hx
@Artur-cm1hx Год назад
Hello! Was this camera suitable for recording sprouting? Timelapse should be about 10 days, with an interval of 1 photo, every 20 minutes
@attrell
@attrell Год назад
Only if you can change the battery every 8-10 hours. Otherwise you may need to get a camera that can plug into the wall. I am not sure this one has an adaptor fpr that.

Hi Chris, not sure what I did wrong. But the video are normal speed instead of going faster and it recorded a heap of videos about 5 minutes long. I had it set at 300 for 10 seconds. Any advice? Thanks, Alice
@attrell
@attrell 2 года назад
Sounds like you just recorded a normal video instead of a timelapse. Got to make sure timelapse is activated in the menu before recording.
