Today we dive into the world of Canon's eos mirrorless cameras - specifically the R6. The Canon R6 was released alongside the R5 back in 2020, but there have been some huge improvements to Canon and Sony's mirrorless lines in these past three years, which raises the question: is the Canon R6 worth it for photographers, youtubers, videographers and creators here in 2023?
The R6 has a lot going for it with its world-class autofocus and high quality video formats, but the same old demons continue to haunt it. The camera's built-in record limit makes it useless for long form creators and documentary filmmakers, and it's MASSIVE overheating issues continue to cripple the R6 when shooting 4k - especially 4k 60fps.
This review of the Canon R6 in 2023 will hopefully shed some light on whether it's the right camera for you to buy, or if you should go for one of Canon's newer offerings like the R8 or R6 Mark II.

What a lot of crap ! I've been photographing digitally for nearly 20 years, owned the 500D (rebel), 6D, all of the 5D and 1D-series but the R6 is the best in my opinion. I don't see why I should buy a new camera every year when a new one is released.

I had an r8 and had that thing overheat in stills mode in an indoor event. I returned it and got another and did the same thing. So i searched around for an R6 at a good price and found one for $1500, never been happier.

@erickr.1265 Yup. Canon deliberately crippled the R8 in order to keep the price low. I shoot with the R6 and R6 MK II, and I am very happy with the 6 series of Canon cameras.

I have the R6. I don’t do video, only stills photography. It is perfect for that. Beautiful sensor, amazing AF. I probably won’t look to get another camera until the R5 Mk III.

I'm having exactly the same problems with my R6. I just started a youtube channel and I can't tell you how many times I already had to restart recording because of overheating issues or 30 minutes block. I think I will hold on though and wait until the R5 mark II comes out and see how that looks like or I will bypass the 30 min block with the ninja atmos V+. Thanks for the focusing issue, had the same, and it's now gone.

I still have that, i was going to buy R5 but i got impatient saving. But i have no regrets because so many website dont let you use full 8k uploads anyway and when i really need to upgrade I am sure it will last me until that day, prob 2 more years before online switches to 8k. Omgosh thanks for the focus tip, I am going to change that setting now because i have a shoot tomorrow and i noticed that this morning when i was doing test shots.

@@JosephMartin pain in the ass, annoying, YES, useless, Nope, this has been the norm for a decade. All cameras have limitations that make them suck. I'm use a blackmagic 6k and it sucks. Video tech is not in a good place right now. All I want is a full frame NO CROPPING camera that has stabilization and films well in low light, can't find one, they all suck. What do you recommend?
