Congrats on the new camera, I got the R6 MK II when it first came out and I love it , the auto focus is amazing. Dont get rid of the canon eos r, that is still a good camera. Enjoy. When using the camera with the atomos ninja v, you do see a slight improvement when shooting in prores. it is nice not having the 4k crop and the ibis when paired with a rf lens with image stabilization helps a lot with handheld footage.

Man I love the 4k footage that I got out of the R6 II! For the first time I felt like I’m not completely incompetent, that good video specs are actually important to get good footage hahah
oh man. that's exactly the set up i'm hoping for. a r6 mkll and a c70. i really thought the overheating issue with the r6 was just overhyped, but it really does overheat quite a lot.
The autofocus issue I’ve seen on another channel too. Maybe you guys just brush it off since you’re already committed and don’t want to feel bad about the purchase. I really hope they fix it.thanks for the video btw.
The thing is that the autofucus is otherwise really really good, so when it makes some mistakes like that, it's definetly not because the camera can't detect my face on that distance. It can do it much further than that. I think it's either a bug when switching on the "Detect only AF", or it's overcomplicated and makes these kind of obvious mistakes, or it's some sensitivity setting on the AF menu. Anyways I didn't intend to ignore the fail at all, I even made an own video chapter about it. But now we also have a comment on the issue, so I think we're covered. Thank you for your comment! 🙂

I’ve had the R for a couple years and it’s been fun. Tried the R5 and it was great, but it froze up several times so I returned it to Best Buy for fear of being stuck with a lame duck. I’m waiting on the R5 mkii at this point because the R6 mkii has so many elements that are steps backward, even from the EOS R. Like MICRO HDMI…. IPB compression only….smaller and lower resolution screen……. And no C Log……and I’ve heard the build quality is lacking as well….. The R is boring and lackluster in a lot of ways but the thing is so reliable and has never overheated or frozen up… it will record all formats, even 4k 30fps ALL-I to Sandisk V30 cards without a single glitch…..so until something better is made…..R all the way.
True, the EOS R never fails hahah!! It’s also true that the R6 II is a downgrade in some ways, but it’s always about what best fits your specific needs. For my needs it’s a great upgrade. I’m sure the R5II will be sick!
I know I am a bit late to this discussion but, the megapixel count alone does not give a full picture of the resolving power of the camera. According to Canon’s release notes the R6 mk II, even with 24 MP, resolves more detail than the Canon Eos R/ 5d MK IV. If resolution is the concern, Canon has addressed this.
Thanks a lot! It took a while to figure out how to get this info from the videofiles, but I just managed and with the LOG turned off, both in neutral and standard picture profile the files are recorded in 8 bit 4:2:0.
@@juljanskurani ah thank you so much for finding this out for me. Superhelpful! Really useful to know as I film weddings and LOG isn't always the best choice. I still have nightmares about the time I filmed a lowlight wedding in December on the EOS R in 8 bit C LOG. I made A LOT of extra work for myself cleaning that up! Thanks again!
