My R6 came with the 24-105 kit lens and I loved it. I travel a lot and do lots of landscapes photography, always though making the big jump to an L-series was going to be day and night difference.......I just realize it is not!! ;/ at least for what I use my camera for. I recently order a 24-70 f2 and after running multiples shot comparisons I can't justify $2,500 comparing it against my kit lens image quality. While watching this vid Im still trying to convince myself not to return it but its going back..... :(
I realize this is 2 years old, but it is still very relevant. The RP is still offered with and without the RF 24-105mm f4-f7.1. I was hesitating but at only $250 US more roughly for the model with the lens, it seems like a no brainer after having watched this video. Thank you very much! By the way, your English is very good and quite clear.
Great video, thank you. I have the 24-105 f4-7.1 lens and really love it.... but for portraits 105mm + f7.1 is not so good!!!! But I do get a much lighter, smaller, cheaper and better macro lens. I pair this with the RF 50 f1.8 - that way I get the best of both worlds. A great light travel lens (24-105 f4-7.1) with a fantastic bokeh/portrait/street lens (50 f1.8).
My EOS RP came with the 24-105 kit lens. I bought the camera a few weeks after launch. At that time the kit lens was the RF24-105 f4L. The STM lens did not exist at that time.
This is a helpful in-depth comparison, thank you! I plan on picking up the f4 as my first L series lens. It seems like a great all purpose lens and I like that it’s weather sealed.
Excellent, very fair review. I have both lenses. Yes, the f4 is better, but my copy of the f7.1 must be exceptional, as it's pretty sharp everywhere in the range ( unsceintific comparisons of the same objects photogphed with both lenses on an rp). And in daylight or bright light for casual photography, I'll take the slower lens, as it's easier to carry. Indoors and/ or for more 'serious' photography, I'll bring the f4. But none of the L glass I have is as good as my equivalent m43 pro lenses, in my findings.
One thing to note, zoomed out, the range of focus for the kit lense is insanly small, its a macro shot for sure. I kidd you not you can almost touch something with the glass and itll be sharp.
So for portraits the 24-105mm f4 is better? I see it as a big investment for the future so I don't have to change after a year. Or is there anyone who would recommend me 1-2 best portrait lenses? I can't decide😄
What if I wanted to do portraits and real estate photography? The salesman at the store told me the 7.1 would be able to both but that seems to be conflicting what I'm seeing out there. Thanks! Great review
don't have a full frame camera i have a crop sensor camera the canon 80d i guess when the prices goes down I'll buy me a full frame camera but for right now i only have the 80d and i want a good lens that can do everything with. I want a few pointers. I want to know how good this lens is and would it fits my canon 80d
Bang for your buck = f4-f7.1, f4l is just better but you have to use your camera daily in order to really justify it or for special conditions (shooting in extreme weather conditions etc.) So overal the che😊aper one is better (value per dollar wise)
Native speaker here, I had no problem easy to understand. If you are not however, I could understand as English is not so easy. Best of luck with the study.
