I've used the Canon EF-M 18-150 mm lens on the M6 II for several years, and the two cameras have similar specs e.g. 32 MP sensor, 14 fps, 2.3 million dot EVF, etc: In all honesty, I swear that I've never had so much fun with a camera. Although I mostly shoot birds with EF zooms, the 18-150 is my "walk around" lens, particularly for video, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It's compact, sharp, and fills a variety of niches that would normally require multiple primes. Although I was initially worried by RU-vidrs who claimed it wasn't sharp enough for the 32 MP sensor, this just isn't the case. I think one of the dangers of listening to gear reviews is that there is an inherent bias when reviewers regard the APSC kit as a "second camera", which - consciously or not - they insist on comparing to their R3/R5/R6 with costly L-series primes. Not all of us have (or need) that sort of gear, and such comparisons just aren't relevant. Although the R7 is very similar to my M6 II, the addition of bird eye tracking and in-body stabilization makes an upgrade very tempting, as does the availability of the Canon 18-150 zoom.

I think the upgraded AF and the IBIS is a good reason to get the R7. The kit lens is like I said in the video a good lens to grab along for walks/hikes and the small and compact form factor but still with such a variable focal length is a good quality of the lens.

I don't know if this is just a first impression of the lens, but it would be very helpful for us potential consumers if you did a review to really see how sharp this lens is. We know that it is not very bright, but if the lens is sharp, it would be a real alternative to consider. we would greatly appreciate knowing the sharpness, vignetting, etc. And also see, as far as possible, observe unedited and large photos in order to see the quality in a better way. I'm thinking on the same deep review of this kit lense, I'm upgrading from Canon M50 to the R7 and want to make sure this lens is worth for the price, also I think if this lens could be use for my internal youtube studio but with a good lithgning maybe will be nice too, but definitely I want to see this lens for some B-rolls videos outside and some angles from 35 to 85mm to see how is looking for video, thanks for the great content and keep us informed with your new R7, if you can do that review will be awesome 👌 👏 👍

Think twice. Menu interface on Sony cameras is terrible apparently. See Ken Rockwell reviews. Rockwell points out correctly that Canon is a camera company, Sony an electtonics company and the difference is glaring.

Canon is actually calling it a ‘travel’ lens, and I think as light, small, all in one lens, it’s ok. The plastic mount is a bad joke though.

Why? Makes it lighter, doesn't mean it isn't sturdy. I own it myself and it is a great lens if you get it in a kit for a good price.

No, it’s only for RF mount, and Ef/EFS with adapter.

@@thegreatvanziniphotos5976technically not possible , ef was mirror so sensor was more in the back , adapter increase the distance to make focal distance the same , m is mirrorless too and even a thin adapter would change the distance enough to make it unfocused whatever you try.
