Mountain house are camping eats. MRE'S are for stressful tasks. I like the little shoves and small bottles but you can't refill them . I'll keep carrying heavy propane bottle, you can refill them.
They can be expensive. I have subscribed to there ad space and last year they emailed me numerous sale opportunities. One was for 35% off w/free shipping. That was a steal. I backed up the truck. A later sale had 30% off free/ship at $99. No need to pay retail. Especially now they know everybody is gobbing this stuff up. The buy low sell high theory somewhat applies here. Buy when prices/need is low and get great prices. Use when needed. To buy now would be like purchasing lumber after the tornado. Be prepared ahead of need and buy on sale when no one else wants the products or at least not a run on the market. Takes time but well worth it. IMO Mtn Hse is one of the best freeze dry meals out there. Wise brand the worst.
I look fwd to viewing all you vids. You do nice work. But, If you ad hot sauce to everything what's the point. Everything you consume is hot sauce flavored. Not a hot sauce lover so maybe I just don't get it. If I want all my meals to taste the same I'll go back to Wise meals.......na, I'll stick to mtn hse.
For the price of a single portion of mountain house I could get a Uncle Ben's chicken infused rice and a can of chicken and get so much more. I myself I have the shepherd's pie Mountain house that I'm saving for better warmer weather. Thanks for the video Matt
I buy the 2 serving and also carry dehydrated pearl potatoe I use half the meal and supplement adding in potato mix it all together and it makes a filling meal and I still have the other half for another meal .I section hike the applachian trail and weight is everything. My total load out weight is 18 pounds that is everything I need. I could lighten it up even more but i carry a few luxury item and will live with the weight. Great video I'm a new subscriber and look forward to seeing more of your videos.
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival they are pricey but I look for bulk deals and can get the cost down I also buy knorr pasta and rice sides they cost a dollar at Walmart weigh next to nothing and are a good quick lunch .
I just dont get why some think those meals are so awesome. For what one of those meals cost, you can go to a Dollar Store or Wally world and get a small box Minute rice, a couple cans of chicken, a jar of bullion cubes and container or two of seasonings and have a couple or fulfilling meals. But to each their own. Great job as always. 😉😎👍🧀
Do both. Mountain House needs no rotation and is extremely light weight. Imagine the space it takes to store 3-6 months worth of food for you and a family. When you consider the weight/space factor in transit you will see the light. You can only carry so much/have limited space. Rotation is essential if you really store meals for a few months. Now rotate an entire closet of food, label each can, ect. It's work. If you don't have a closet of food stored then your statement is of no relevance. If you do, then you understand. Try it and prove to yourself I am wrong. But you probably won't, don't. I'll be very happy to be proved wrong and you will be happy to know your family is provided for in time of need. Good luck.
